But Sue... I mean, Mae, we thought YOU had all the information. Word is spreading! Isn't it? I mean... Topix has ALL the information, right? This is the go to place for all the news, isn't it? I can hear all the little keyboards just tapping away. Soon.... don't go anywhere. You might miss it. Oh golly gee! I can't wait!

In the mean time, you can play 100 questions with Bob. You know that guy you encourage to keep throwing all his ideas out to the 3 people that care. You, him and somebody in WV.

Last Thursday night at the rec. center when the vision plan was introduced to the public, Mayor Bingham said that he would be in favor of a tax increase to fund some of these projects. Ask anyone that was at the meeting.

Well thank you for that. There is so much BS on this site you cant tell who is trolling and who knows what they are talking about. Wished you had cited that in your first comment, but glad you followed it up. Wonder if they plan to put this vision plan on the net? I hope so. I'd like to see some details. Thanks again.

I don't know of Sue or Bob or even a Bobbie Sue. Topix is a community on things going on in the news or local gossip or just saying what's on one's mind.
I know the property taxes hasn't increased in 25 years. Brace yourselves for that monster is going to be a very heated Topic, too.
Investing in property is what it is to others but my wisdom tells me to hold out on buying something else in this city. We are debt free and have to stay smart.

Is Telling people that property taxes have not increased in the last 25 years" is the way politicians mislead the public who don't know what property taxes are?

This city is not "debt free" when the Lewisburg Water Department, Cornersville Water Department, City Industrial Board, Rec. Center, or any other city department continues to borrow and owes money!
Why don'r you run for Mayor or City Council you might be supprised how much Lewisburg Owes and how the figures can be made to look something they are not!

Debt Free HA HA HA !
Don't Make me Laugh!

Beside that extra charges for Garbage pick up, extra charges on the Light Bills, Sewer and Water rates gone up Accessments on Property gone up about 400 % in the last 25 years! Is the City of Lewisburg taking in more that ever before and spending more than any town can afford to Spend with the Debt This Town and County Have?
Does Marshall County at times owe about $80,000,000,00 Million Dollars, and the City of Lewisburg about $25,000,000.00 million Dollars and counting?

Before you speak or write, you sir to put it mildly are a dumb a$$ and should stay off topix. I don't know of anyone that said that the city of Lewisburg was debt free. they just said that there had not been a tax increase in over twenty years here in the city and they are correct. The state comptroller's office that came down on the county last week said last year that Lewisburg was in the top 2% of cities that owed very little money. I will agree with you that there are several things that need to be changed in the city but it is in 100% better shape than the county. Now with that being said, concerned citizens should contact their councilmen and mayor and tell them to get the city's spending under control and to raise taxes to help fund the "Vision Plan" is nonsense. The mayor needs to be help accountable for his statement! If there is a tax increase here in Lewisburg then vote those councilmen out of office next time. This should have already been done with most of our county commissioners.

You should read "all of" post 10# on this page!!! that 11# post was address to, in post 10# did it was said "Debt free!" Read it again?

I don't know about you but my Lewisburg Property taxes have increased sense about 35 years ago about 400 %!
Also paying for garbage pick up that was included in the city taxes 25 years ago!
Paying extra charges on the electic bill
Paying more for water and sewer!
Paying more County Taxes!

Paying for a Rec. Center that was not on the City Tax Rolls put on County Taxes more fair for all to pay who want to play!

Paying for Saddle Creek Golf Course to be build and then give away!
Paying for Cornesville's broke Water and Sewer Department purchase!
Paying for city water lines ran milies outside city limits!
Paying for Derogative Derivitives deals that was bad under table deal!
Paying for several walking trails and parks not really needed!
Paying for 1/2 finished empty industrial buildings built with city debt!
Paying for new industrial park when the old industrial park remains with empty buildings!
Paying for Women's Rest Room building remodeled not needed!
Paying for Rotten Dead Cow Water, people not told when that happened!
Paying for Department Managers living outside the city limits yet working for the city of Lewisburg!
Paying for up keep on Army surpluss war vehicles for the local police to ride in parades and sit rust away!
Are we also paying for the rich of Marshall County to buy local City Water Department Bonds at higher interest rates and keep, the rich wanting more City Bonds Debt?

How you going to vote out if do those who count the votes might matter more than those who vote?

Hey bimbo, I do believe they meant THEY were debt free. We ALL know NO city, county, state or country for that matter is debt free. If they did mean themselves, as I believe, congratulations on achieving what so many can't but should do!!!!!

Bob as others have already stated in other posts you are not just an idiot but a total idiot. No your city taxes have not increased in the last 20+ years much less 400%. You have the city and county confused. The only rate increases within the control of the city government has been with the water dept. and they did get a $10.00 rate increase in Jan. of this year due to the action of the vote of the mayor when the council vote was tied. This is the same mayor that said he was in favor of a tax increase but thank god he does not have a vote unless the council has a tie vote on the issue. Bob you only spread falsehoods and that is not good for anyone.

My husband and I became debt free, when we paid off a small loan. Our home is paid off. We are getting our house in order. His by doctor's suggestions because of his health. We would like sidewalks but we could try plywood (untreated) during this better weather time.

Why would the city put plywood along your road instead of concrete for sidewalks? That makes no sense at all.

You are reading too quickly. We as in my husband and me, not city.
A flat surface to walk on such as plywood would be better than none. Moles love cultivating the ground. Sink holes are noticed in the woods. My husband would enjoy a safe walk in our back yard. A city sidewalk may come after we are deceased.

Why blame the water vote increase on the Mayor? When all the rest had to do was delay the vote? Was that a set up deal to let the Mayor do their dirty works?

Only rate increase thats a laugh!

Was the added garbage pick fee monthly an increase?
Was the added monthly Customer Charge to the Electric bill an increase?

Don't when the property accessment by the State increases, then the City and County taxes increase? Don't that allows the city and county more money which both seem willing to spend other than pay down the Debts for both? Which has both city and county future combine Debt increase too around $100 Million dollars, or more at times during the year?

Do some of these public officials, remind some of the 3# Monkeys, that do they seem to want the public to see no evil, hear no evil, or speak no evil, as do those do their dirty works with their own made up rules, while at times breaking the sunshine laws of this State?

How many public officials, including board members, if any, are making lots of money off City Debt by owning City Industrial, Water Department, Municipal Bonds sold by if any City department?
If so could some might call that a conflict of interest?

Bob, this is the last time I reply to you. in a previous post you complained about the $10.00 extra dollars you are paying for water. Looked it up an saw where Cathey(water board member) and Thomas(electric board member) voted for the increase. The other two councilmen voted against it! The mayor broke the tie by voting for the increase. Allen was absent. So the mayor's vote did increase your water bill. No monkey here . Also since you are a dumba$$ every time the state does a new assessment the city, not the county, decreases the dollar amount per $100 value on your property so you city tax does not increases but stays the same. Garbage charges are within I believe a dollar of what they were before the old contract had to be renewed! City debt is very little. Less than 2% of the total city budget. One last thing the city and county have nothing to do with the customer charge on your electric bill. That is determined by T.V.A. Are there thing wrong in the city? Sure ,but very little of it has to do with debt. Now can that change. Yes and it just might in the future if the city does not get its future spending in line, especially with the vision plan. One last thing for you Bob, "RUMORS ARE CARRIED BY HATERS, SPREAD BY FOOLS, AND ACCEPTED BY IDIOTS."
