reading the tulsa news, gets me to wondering how serious people really think jail/prison is. i read about people killing, all the time and it baffles me. i'm a good person besides being raised right, i don't like getting into trouble. it scares me, and i'm kindof a tender heart... so i'm just wondering other people's opinions on the fear of going to jail/prison.

I have no fear of prison because I don't intend to break the law. But on the other hand, maybe the fear of prison keeps me from breaking the law.

If you have a child on drugs ,what's wrong with jail to keep them from the crowd?
If you take a life, jail is a piece of cake in comparison to what faces you elsewhere.
If you rob a bank, you have to pay.
And as the saying goes,
If you do the crime you do the time.So no need to think it over after the fact.If you get yourself in trouble ,you get yourself out and obey laws.Jail is for lawbreakers.I never intend to break the laws to see their four walls and thru bars.

so there's a lot of people that aren't afraid of going to jail. i mean i agree, what they call jail now days is a pretty comfortable place, people get a free life to live. and that isn't how it should be... it ticks me off actually...to think i'm out here working for everything i have, and the people that does break the law are living off of us. jail/prison is something that should be feared...and it sadly isn't.

Yep.

Cable TV, workout facilities, three meals a day, free laundry service. Sounds like a college dorm room to me. And then we pay for their education (granted we should be proud of those who want to change). Worst part is that 1/3 of inmates across the country are illegals. Not only do they drain our economy on the outside, but our taxes are paying for them behind bars. Um there is a word...Can't think of it... Oh, deportation.

So let's say I'm a homeless man with only a nickel in my pocket. Hmmmm. Makes you think.

I've been in prison - did 18 months and was worried about going in that time. It wasn't good being locked up but once you've been there a few weeks you sort of get into a routine and if you try to make the best of things it's doable. The worse thing is being told what to do and when to do it, not getting outside much and missing out on people and things you want to do. You also have to stay away from any fights or getting on the wrong side of people as that can get you into big trouble.

There are things that are never nice - like getting searched alot, having to slop out in the morning like we had to where I was. I definitely don't want to go back but I wouldn't be scared of it.

Heck...why me worry...Never...I don't look over my shoulder and I face anyone head on. I try and keep my chin up and deal with what others are doing. I am as responsible as I can be. I'm not at all a perfect human being.
I suppose at 53 that I have learned from my past and go on and forgive myself and others for mistakes. We here in United States have a "sort of"
judical system. I think it protects others' and I hope that when they get outside that they remember why they went in and go from there...
Best to all of you, just try hard, and take each day SECOND BY SECOND...this day by day stuff is too hard...I ought to know about recovering and changing...I'm fighting and trying to recover from pukeing in a toilet for most of my adult life...ugly choice...yes I know that...Let's all not cast somemany stones. Being human is hard enough...Next!
humm you judge...

I here the Ethics Committee can keep you from going to jail or even before the Local Grand Jury
Is that True?

If that is so, why don't all the crooks go?
