Do you people have any education at all? I mean one has a total lack of punctuation and the other isn't sure where the space after a period goes or the proper use of commas. I mean, these are elementary tasks! Is this a lack of education or an example of our education system?

If these people cannot perform such simple acts of writing properly in 2013, how can we hope they know who to vote for? Can they even read at a level of comprehension required to make sound decisions?

Pull the Popsicle stick from your butt and worry about something that really matters.

Really? Education doesn't matter? I have to agree with the above poster, Americans are pathetic today compared to the rest of the world who put education first. Most graduates of other countries are bi, and tri-lingual, forget about just English and writing. Americans should be ashamed.

"So sad", it is also a certain amount of laziness brought on by kids learning how to read "text" on their IPhones. Why do these kids bother to learn proper usages of vocabulary, grammar and structure when they have auto-correct? Do they even teach Cursive Hand Writing anymore?

I was told that his most recent arrest (not sure if he has more than one) was a couple of months ago where he must have been tailgating a police car at night. Why, guess you would have to ask him? He was pulled over and I was told he refused to show his D.L. and other documents. I think he was taken to jail and made bond but don't know that for a fact. Judge Brandon did find him guilt last month on the tailgating issue but I was told he was let off on the other charges. I guess his brother was his lawyer but don't know that for a fact. This man might be the only candidate that would be a worst choice than Councilman McRady. What a circus it would be if these two were on the city council. The other councilmen would probably resign rather than serve with those two. I believe I would be leaving Lewisburg or at least out of the city limits.

Voting and having the right to vote has nothing to do with someones grammar on a topix board. These are rights given to every citizen of lawful age according to the Constitutions of the United States and Tennessee. Also, just because they can not spell or punctuate properly doesn't mean that they don't know what they are talking about in trying to tell other people about a particular candidate or person.

Your statement just goes to show you have no inkling of the correlation between education and voting. The better educated have higher comprehensive levels and are able to make better choices based on "their" research and not just listening to the company around them. The lower comprehensive level a person has, the less ability they have of making an informed decision. And yes, this is evident in their grammar usage/ability.

I said nothing about anyone's rights to vote. My comment was about how shocked I am at today's level of education based on many other areas, not just here on Topix. A low/uneducated mass have a better chance of being controlled by their government. Just look to Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and other countries where the mass is suppressed by class or caste. Our society is being dumbed down and you don't have to look far to see the effects. But you just close your eyes to it and continue to pretend everything is peachy keen.

I am shocked that people would want to ignore the truth about any candidate because of their loyalty or kinship to that candidate. The original poster seems to be trying to informing the topix readers that this candidate has had several issues that would not make him a wise choice for councilman. Being thrown out of a meeting by the police and being arrested for what could have been a serious traffic violation to me are serious issues for anyone. Instead it seems as if you are more concerned with his spelling errors rather than the message he is trying to impart. This man was thrown out of a council meeting by Mayor Woods and did give an inappropriate sign as he was leaving. There were over 100 people at these meetings and it was replayed on WAXO during the time period. During the cemetery issue a few years ago I remember people saying that he did not stand for prayers or the pledge of allegiance during these meetings but stayed seated with his girlfriend/wife. How does this make him the better candidate for the job regardless of the original posters lack of education, writing ability, and reading and listening comprehension. Facts are Facts!

And then read the second post.

I was not knocking the message, just appalled at the overall state of things. I am not familiar with this Dalton person and if I were a citizen of Lewisburg, I certainly would take that into account and research it further. However, my comment was more about the level of education. Perhaps this Dalton person is further evidence of that inadequacy; that someone of such unrefined, unscrupulous nature would even attempt to run let alone someone else might even approve of him is even more shocking! Is this what we have arrived to??? In 2013?? I feel as if this should be 1813 instead.

Perhaps the city council is trying to do what is best for this community and Mr. Dalton has beliefs that do not support the welfare and future of this city, as other citizens do.
His election will be based on the size of his local family and any friends, if any.
Just imagine someone not local showing up at a city council and showing their ignorance just as he has.
Mr Dalton is determined to protest any changes in this city by his behavior, his focus is to insure that the history and heritage of this city is passed on, not a bad thing but our future is here and now.

If he's elected, it won't matter about the prayer and the pledge. His first act will be to try to get rid of them. He's probably already got one of the anti-prayer groups lined up to support him when he makes his motion to stop both actions. Get ready city taxpayers.

My prediction is: he will be elected and fit well with the rest of the city council. This election will be a repeat of past failures that have been detrimental to the growth and future of this city. It is a duplicate with the same anticipated results, Einstein called this behavior as insanity.

You people, especially 'visiting' are the most pathetic people I have ever witnessed. Your city will either get worse and die out, or just continue to falter along until someone better comes along.

How do you really feel! You must be an anarchist also. Have seen his brothers law office and he used to fly an anarchist flag out (half black - half red divided cross-way) in front of the office instead of the American Flag. Many neighbors, American citizens all, were greatly opposed to it but could do nothing about it until last Halloween when it went missing. Was told by a friend that he would not let one of his renters, who is a retired Navy veteran, fly an American Flag from his property. He asked a neighbor if he could fly one from their yard and they gave him permission. Vote for Dalton and you vote for anarchy, plain and simple.
