Here is the story from paper. This is so sad for all involved. I am sure there is more to the story. People don't just stab people for no reason, but still not a way to resolve issues. Sad.

Lewisburg man charged with attempted homicide

A Lewisburg man is being held without bond, charged with attempted criminal homicide. His victim was taken by air ambulance to Vanderbilt.

Scotty W. Blackwell, 33, of Bivins Road, allegedly attacked Michael R. Bass with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds.

About 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, police were dispatched to St. Ann Street "in reference to a stabbing that had just occurred," according to the report by Lewisburg Police Officer Amanda Binkley.

While she was on her way to St. Ann Street, dispatch told Binkley the suspect had left in a white pickup truck.

Before Binkley got to St. Ann Street, she was diverted to 1110 Glenn Avenue, about half a mile away, where a white pickup truck had just crashed into the house.

When she got there, Binkley saw the truck, with extensive front-end damage, and a man walking away from it with his hands up.

"I recognized him as Mr. Scotty Blackwell," Binkley reported. "His clothing was soaked in blood and he had blood on his face, arms and hands." Some of the blood was Blackwell's own, since he had cuts on his lip, face, and fingers.

Meanwhile, Lewisburg Police Sgt. Chris Sawyers arrived at 1426 St. Ann Street, where he found Bass lying on the ground, covered in blood, and immediately called an ambulance. According to the Tennessee Property Database, Bass is the owner of the home.

A local source who prefers to remain anonymous said he heard Bass came out of the house bleeding and calling for help and his Hispanic neighbors called 911. This source also said he heard Blackwell knocked on Bass's door, asking for a can of gas, which Bass gave him, and then Blackwell attacked Bass with the knife for no reason.

This contrasts with what Blackwell reportedly told Binkley: "I just went over there to play the guitar and hang out and he tried to pay me to have sex with him."

Detective Cpl. Scott Braden signed a warrant for attempted criminal homicide for Blackwell and he was arrested at Marshall Medical Center and transported to jail.

Blackwell was also cited for driving on a revoked license, and for failure to provide proof of insurance. His first court date is listed as Sept. 24 in General Sessions Court.

My heart goes out to both of those men, certainly their families and friends who never saw this coming.

Behavioral problems don't go away. They were learned and can be unlearned. I pray for those who are troubled and just can't seem to stay away from and out of trouble.
My husband's uncle was in and out of prison for stealing cars. He died in a police chase in Augusta,Ga. many years ago. He had hit a lady in the head with a ball bat and took her car. Her boyfriend called the police and that city heard sirens a lot that day. No one knows what will happen next but when a person is repeatedly in trouble their is a medical problem. Not sin but a medical problem. If anyone needs a reminder, alcohol kills brain cells. Is it worth buying, selling, and drinking?

Thanks for posting the news. It was very detailed. Thanks to those who helped and are still helping to protect our lives.
May both men fully recover physically as well as mentally from this traumatic situation.

Go get yourself educated. Alcohol does not kill brain cells. Sin and medical problems are not connected except in the case of cause and effect. Sin is intentionally doing something God said not to, like lying. Medical issues are caused by many things from birth defects to making bad life choices. Not everyone who drinks alcohol is irresponsible and in fact millions drink everyday without so much as a problem. You are overblowing the situation with your kneejerk reactions. As usual. Go outside and pick some weeds.

Not trying to be arrogant with you but alcohol is the most common drug in the world.Fuel of choice pickles the brain. Other drugs burn up the brain creating airheads or fried, old burned out druggies as termed.Look up dirrerent drugs on MD and read what each does.Never say no so much as a problem for things take place over time with anything abused comsumed into the body. The brain is often the victim.Yes,medical problems do bring on other issues.Tumors have effects. Don't make fun of a humble person thanking people.
You are saying they are over blowing it but they are not.Simply communicating with other civil posters.Thank you.
"Go outside and pull weeds" makes you sound like you're talking down to a poster with something to say just like you.As good as you.Read up on alcohol then post something civilized..

Careful what you say, it has a way of coming back at you. Saying they are over blowing it, is my opinion. If you don't like my opinions, don't read them. Don't like what I post, pass over my posts. You are the one that sounds like you have your panties in a wad. Relax, unwind, have a beer. Don't drink? Go outside and pull some weeds, it really does well for any mental state you are in. Feel the sunshine and use your pent up energy doing something useful for your yard all at the same time. Don't like my advice? Move on.

That was either a comment by a delinquent 3rd grader skipping school or someone with a very low IQ. I'm betting on the latter.

sounds to me he has to have some liquid courage in him to do the thing he has one. Heard he has in the past couple of months stabbed some one else. They were afraid to report him...Maybe he may get about 40 years...Such a big man. Put him in a single room with another man wanting to kick his ass...See how fast he starts crying...I do not feel sorry for him....Bubba is waiting for you...SCOTTY...enjoy
