If anyone has story ideas they would like considered for the next Americana Magazine, I'd love to hear them. The best ideas come from community members who know inspiring people, have a great family story, notice a trend or know about historic sites and their stories. If you don't want to post them here, you can email me at [email protected]

I've found some great story ideas from this site (excluding news issues) so I figured it couldn't hurt to speak up and ask directly for more ideas. I also want to invite people to join the Volunteer Storytelling classes so the magazine has more community voices. A lot of people on this forum say they don't feel connected to community life or they are disgruntled with politics. I hope the classes will turn out to be a place where people feel wanted and a way for people to contribute to community life in a new way. No experience necessary, really. There are so many great stories here to tell and they balance out the things we are unhappy about...that's just my two cents...

Is it true that Wayne Newton once had a house in Lewisburg? The place near Fairview Market?(Roberts house) I heard that years ago and wondered if it was true. What about one of the Black Crows (a rock group) owning a home in Cornersville? Anyone famous come from this area?
Some of the old folks have some good stories if anyone could take the time to listen to them.
What about buisness' that have employees that went above and beyond what they had to do? Just some thoughts. Even if it is fluff..lol

God Ďs Credit in Book
Should be
First you see
Because there is where the credit lays
For if not for he
You are the book
Would not be
The great scenes of Nature
Beautiful old Trees and Lakes
Doves, horses, animals
The begin of Henry Horton State Park

Some articles on the Big and small Churches
Their begins and growth
Are just survivals
Some of the older Preachers or teachers
As well as the new

Women should be
How about next
You are a woman
Donít you see how great they be

For if not for mothers
Where would we be
Behind every great man there
Is a greater woman
That we usually donít see
Some donít even need a man
Like thee
Single and free

The Beautiful Women
Like you and Quinn B.

How about her to begin
She will go down in the History of this Town
First Council woman a leader a leader she be
How proud we should be
If only the Mayor and council could See

The Brains behind the Great men and Leaders of the Community
There a woman be

The factories all around the head is usually a clown
The woman is behind
The books

Letís show the women
Who did the books
That keeps the crooks
Out of Jail
And some from going to hell

What a book it will be
If you only will listen to me

Ask and you shall receive
You just would not believe
I like to help when I can
I am different
From any other man
That is the way I want to be
Just some women can't see
So just call on me any time
24 -- 7
That don't rhyme

The building of the Columbia State College campus here in Lewisburg and the local people who funded and supported it.....how about wonderful local families who sponsor educational scholarships out of their pockets so people from Marshall County can acquire a college education.....An article on the Retired Teachers from our area would be very interesting.....Articles with pictures about schools, like Belfast and Petersburg that once used to exist and yet are still remembered.....

More great ideas! Do you have the names of some of the families that fund scholarships privately? If you don't want to disclose them here, you can email them to me at [email protected]

A story about J.D. Mealer who not only was the last full-service gas station to close, but who has been a bigger than life figure in Marshall County. There are few who do not know him.

Right now, I'm trying to build a community-driven magazine so there are many many voices and diverse stories. If you're interested in contributing a story to the May issue, I would love it...I welcome new fresh perspectives.(so, we're assuming rocking chairs mean the firemen don't work and they just rock? Aren't there long down periods that might justify killing time in a rocking chair?...I read the previous postings but may have missed the punchline somewhere.)
