I don't live on government assistance, I am over weight, but I have no health issues with regards to weight. I don't cost anyone any money. I have a job and pay for my health insurance. Not all fat people are government blood suckers.
But please note..... This is something that is coming in healthcare. Many companies are already charging a smoking supplement charge. It's only a matter of time before they hit the people who are over weight as well.
What ticks me off about these supplements is there are tons of people with health problems that DONT smoke, or are over weight.
Another thing about the Fat tax in health care that ticks me off is basically they are punishing a lot of people who have genes that make it very difficult to lose weight. It's an unfair assumption that all fat people are unhealthy. Maybe they should pose a tax for people who actually have the health problems so the people who don't burden the system don't have to pay for the people who do.
Anyone can get sick, this is true, but studies show if you are obese it is going to cause you problems sooner or later. It is not a possibility, it is a certainty. Our bones and joints were not designed to carry that much weight. Then there is a problem of circulatory issues, breathing issues, and more. If you are under 35, your metabolism is going to greatly diminish between now and the time you are 50, a time when many begin battling the bulge and you already have a head start. One only needs to look at the statistics of the obese to see your life span is shorter than others on average. Your body is busy dealing with weight issues that your immunity begins to drop. Let's not pretend that being over weight is okay. We all have gene issues as well. If your genes tend to cause you to be an alcoholic, you shouldn't drink, if they make too much fat, you should learn how how to eat properly to keep from getting overweight. It's not rocket science, it is called personal responsibility. Get help. It's out there.
