Child abuse in Marshall county

Why is it that the cases of child abuse or neglect seem to just disappear here in Marshall county? There are children that have been taken away from the neglectful parents and placed in homes then the parents are just released to do whatever. In other counties if a father abuses a child and the mother knows it both parents are charged and do time. The father for the abuse and the mother for neglect. Here in Marshall county there are so many children that are left in bad situations it is sad. Children living in homes that have no utilities or food, even though the parents get food stamps. The stamps are sold to buy drugs and the law knows it. The law is the one who reported the family to DCS. How can a parent choose an adult over their children? People watch the abuse of children and turn the other way. We see an animal being abused and are more likely to call in the authorities, Why is this?

It's the old testament view of children as your property to do with as you see fit, not as the individual humans that they are.

Also don't forget the huge child sex ring that was busted in Lewisburg a few years ago and quickly forgotten. Something like that shouldn't ever be forgotten or swept under the rug.

Lucy Fer, I moved here around 17 years ago. This is the first time I heard about the sex ring or I just don't remember it. It is a sad world we live in, children are now paychecks not blessings. Everyone sticks their noses in anothers business until it really matters then they turn the other way. It is easier to adopt a "foreign" child than an American child. There are almost as many "jails" for youth as there are for adults in the state. We even have 2 youth homes here in our town.

child abuse exists because we as a society do not place a high enough value on our children.We would'nt leave our wallets or purses or jewelry with people we barely know but think nothing of leaving a helpless child with a new boyfriend,or the people next door, or the "nice old friendly" man who always wants to spend alone time with your child.Parental abuse can come in many forms, neglect, emotional, and physical.I have reported abuse when I see it,urge everyone to do the same.

paradise drive has a lady that her and her boyfriend abused her little girl. how they got away with is beyond me but now she keeps other children in her home. dont think other people knows how she is but she knows how to get people to feel sorry for her, but just dont know how people can just drop their kids off anywhere especially on this house on paradise drive!

Driving through Cornersville reminded me of another disturbing trend there and here, child beauty pageants. How very distubing it is to me to see people judging underage girls based on their physical appearance. It's no wonder Lewisburg has high levels of child sexual abuse and incest when people feel it is alright to judge underage girls like this.

Physical appearance, you got to be kidding, is it like what family they belong to or the judges looking for favors?
I agree! What good does it do to judge or tell some child, another child is prettier than other children? Who knows what that does to young children’s esteem, not selected?
Do some might just call that child abuse?
Does beauty contests give children or and parents the big heads and others an inferiority complex, for have you even known some that go through school / life telling others / class mates, I am pettier than the others, or other children / people saying she thinks she is petty, just because she or he won a beauty contests?

It is a mother living through her daughter. In cornville, everyone is related to everyone, how could they judge fairly? I bet a true yankee would never win unless they dropped to their knees and worshiped the judges or friends of the judges.
Having children dressed up as adults to include a flair of sex appeal is wrong.

They should be judged on talent, personality and ability to express themselves (which will be a real test and reveal the real liberalism their parents will show through prepared statements) and not called beauty contest. It is who's your daddy contest and who pays for the most bizarre costume and a waste of money better spent to better the family.

Besides no one who wins ever really wins in closed minded places such as cornville, they are given the award.
I think in mc, drinking, smoking, and chewing selling stores are too abundant along with beauty shops/salons.

The poster is talking in general in response to another post. Are you the post police? If you know of child abuse, report it. Child abuse goes on many different levels.

Beauty pageants open the door to some. Topixs is not for witch hunters to point out suspected child abusers in this county or others, that is what the telephone is for.

Children taught by their relatives to hate outsiders and take their ugliness to school and direct it towards innocent students who come to live in MC is an example.

Furthering the needless pain and abuse is the school staff when they ignore such actions and do nothing. This too is a form of child abuse which is prevalent in MC.
