Bullying in our schools is still there, especially if you are not from around here. It is also present in local sports. Bullying does not have to be physical. Anyone who is quick to deny it is either blind or part of it.

To the one who ""JUDGED IT" on the negative side: which one are you?
Blind to the fact or part of it? Do you work for the schools?

Bulling is in our schools, it is a subject that no one wants to have a open discussion about. REmenmber the old classes for PE, it was really sex ed classes.

Parents must talk to their children, get involved before it is too late. Get in the teachers faces, let them know who you are. Demand that these bully's be charged when they are caught. some may be charged as adults. Teachers must be accountable,

A lot of hatred in this area. Hatred of outsiders and anyone who resided north of the mason dixon line.
Most the blast from the past reenactments they have, has something to do with the civil war period.

Wasn't or isn't there any other period of time or history in the area worth a flip here to re-enact????? Just the civil war?
I wonder what they taught the kids back then? I have the answer: Hate Yankees.

What does it remind them of today? I will help you again: Hate Yankees. No wonder we have all the problems we have here.

Some teachers and staff members are behind it too, most are pretty slick about it. Try to get a job teaching here if you don't know anyone. They rarely let anyone break into the ranks.

Too many messes here. Too many people with too many stories.
1- 30 years later, they still tell the stories. Yes, bullying does exist, just ask anyone, but don't ask them.

I don't know if that is it. There are some that hate Yankees. Southerners don't like change. That is why we have to bring it up to talk about it.

I am not sure about the change thing. I see it more as an attitude thing.
What are they made to change that causes bullying?

It is a shame our children have to endure it. Nobody there to help because they either don't see it as a problem or don't want to rock the boat.

Either way children are being hurt and families affected.

No one wants to talk about bullying going on. We need to keep people open to the fact that kids are hurting. Keep talking

The same people who do it to our children did it when they were in school. It even happens to adults in the general public by those elected and/or appointed to positions of responsibility. They do it by showing favoritism, denying one thing or another or by just spreading rumors to hurt people. For some silly reason or another, being from here gives people power and pride. They would be really pisssed off if they knew what people outside the county think of them along with people who come from other parts to live in the county. That is why they try so hard to keep locals in positions of authority and scare the voters into thinking having someone in charge who knows the people and area is best for them. It only spread further hatred of those who are not from around here and holds us back from any chances of advancing in anything which brings quality of life and most important fairness to all. Bullying in the area first starts in school and follows the people throughout their lifetime if they stay in the area. To change the course or cycle we need folks who are not from around here (ever) and put them in charge. That alone will greatly improve the chances of not being bullied. Maybe they will be smart enough to see that bullying does actually exist here. They are quick to swiftly sweep it under the carpet and move on with business as usual. If real steps were taken to eliminate bullying here, it could save a child and make life easier for the adults not from around here. That alone would be a breathe of fresh air for many families.

Yes we do have a problem with bullying in our schools. Can any teachers honestly deny it? We wish to hear from some teachers. We care for our children.

Looks like the same person every time tags remarks with spam, clueless and nuts symbols. I guess we do have a problem and they are trying to sweep it under the carpet.
The carpet has a very huge lump in the middle of it which is obvious from 50 yards. Did we hit a nerve of some teacher who encourages it or is from someone who works within the management department of the schools system? I would rather hear from that person versus they just blowing it off with negative judging symbols.

bullies are in all schools,I think schools should hold assemblies to address this problem and bring in parents who lost a child due to bullying, put a face on this horrible behavior and make it crystal clear this behavior will not be tolerated.Parents and teachers must work together to show the ugly consequence of bullying a child to death. This must be started in grade school while a child is learning acceptable behavior, also the elite kids in schools could help the cause by speaking out against this behavior.Be a leader and speak out.

Yea bullies have always been in schools. It is almost always one student that enjoys nothing more than making another students life totally miserable. Teachers don't always see the bullying and in most cases the bully lies when confronted by the teacher and it becomes one students word against another. Here is where the other students need to stand up and tell the teacher what is really going on but most don't what to be a tattle tale or nark. Also if some parents who actually talk to their children amount being mean and acting superior to other students this would never take place. Teachers do what they can and in most cases are in a no win situation because children lie and others don't want to tell! Sad but true!

In this area they bully because the person is not from here and is taught and fueled by the parents or guardians. In some cases it allowed by the teachers who did the same when they were in school. If you ask any of them from here and the will deny it exist or ever existed.

Good for you. Some lived here so long they feel nice and cozy and are somewhat protected. This is one messed up school system. They say they have it under control, not under control, under the carpet.

I hope we get a person in charge who was never from here. Until that happens we will get the same ole same and things will get worse before they ever consider getting any better.

While all that is happening, our children get the abuse. Too many people related to too many teachers to ever fix the problem. We are in desperate need of fresh blood.

Bullying will continue because most of the time the one being bullied is not believed. Or it's simply because the staff doesn't want to believe it's happening in their schools. A bully can be someone that has been taught by their parents they are above everyone else, or they can be because of abuse, it can even be because of things happening that they can't control and are angry about it. I guess theirs a chance that it could be the Civil War thing. Even if parents or teachers talk to the kids it will still continue. In most cases nothing is done.

A lot of good points. It is a shame. We do have a major problem without a doubt.

With a sports-first school system like we have, the so-called (ha ha) athletes, get their way. Bullying is wide spread by sports players and students who relative are teachers and staff. They ensure for the sake of playing sports they are never the wrong or guilty ones.
I believe others should be involved with hiring of teachers in the area. Outsiders who never ever lived in the area should be given a better chance to teach here. They are afraid to let outsiders in because it would open tons of cans of worms and may put an end to the bullying and selective favoritism of students.
I am not proud of our school system
Look at Franklin/brentwood; near the top in education, quality employment and best employment rate in the state.
Look at us, near the bottom of the education department, near the bottom if not worse in quality employment and one of the worst, if not the worst unemployment rate in the state.
For the real sampling look for yourself at what types of teenagers walk around Franklin/Brentwood and what types walk around here.
The proof is in the pudding.
