Just saw that Marshall County was on TN's list as one of the most significantly improved districts in the state. All that will be for nothing. JA has gutted and rearranged the whole system in a few short weeks. Looks like it's automatically taken a step back before school has even started. Way to go JA. Her one term should be an interesting disaster.

I agree!! I just read the new dress code. Seems ridiculous. No logos to exceed 2 inches. Do logos distract from proper education? Someone who wears a Nike or Adidas shirt might cause unnecessary trouble for others? Please!! What a joke!!

The school board makes dress code policy.

I don't know too much about the dress code and yes changes do need to be in place but sometimes they do go overboard.
As for significant improvements, you have to ask yourself, how so? I know how so and am not impressed.
I just met a 20 year old who went through school here and could not read or write. How did that happen? I learned to read/write by 4th grade. Same people, same time period.

A person who did not learn to read is just a person who refused to read or learn anything. I blame the person not the system. Thousands have learned to read but some refuse to learn anything that is being taught.

Well if you read WJJM's website, Jackie Abernathy is taking credit for the dress code.

I have read WJJM's website and cannot find your accusation.

Can you provide a link to your story?

I don't mind the dress code. I see nothing wrong with expecting young adults to take some pride in themselves. The 2" logo is a bit on the extreme side, but I think it's great that they are more specific with no holes in the jeans that show skin above the knee, no underwear visible, etc.

Maybe change is good! The school system has been doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results, but it is not all the problem of the school system, many parents follow the same pattern of behavior.

It is there, I really don't care if you find it or not. Why would I lie about something like that? Do your own research.

Good to see you all bickering once again instead of doing something about what you are bickering about! Some things and places never ever change.

The website stated that the school board established the dress code.

The director was making sure that parents are aware of the board's directive.

Read it slowly, then maybe you can comprehend the article.

Yes, I am wondering if anyone will recognize that this happened under dukes not the b@*#@ that is abernathy!! Of course all of our school board members are just concerned about settling grudges, not the children!

They don't care, all they wanted was Mr. Dukes out of there. JA will have a lot more room to mess up and with less opposition than Mr. Dukes had. That was made possible when they redid the district do that Ann Tears will not win her seat on the School Board.

No need to read it slowly, it clearly stated her name as the dress code origin. Maybe there is a new article you read instead of the original one. So take your time, be patient, and do better research before you try to put someone down.
