I used to live in the River Glen neighborhood in Caney Springs near CHapel Hill and probably 10yrs ago there was a a few sighting of a mountain lion in that area in around the houses and on the Duck river banks. Mountain lions live in TN.. Any animal can migrate to different areas just as I believe they have to Marshall Co..

"Clowns to the Left of Me" is flat out WRONG. Heck, Nathan Bedford Forrest's mother was attacked by one when he was a child as she and his sisters were coming home, late, from a neighbors. She lived. After they fixed her up, he took the rifle and vowed not to return until he had killed it. A few days later, he showed up dragging it by his tail. The show that has the ex-pro wrestler that hunts artifacts was recently in the Smokies on a dig when one was right in front of them. It's on tape on his show. Reports are constant in the area between South Pittsburg and Monteagle and, last week, one was sighted on consequtive nights on the outskirts of Rossville, Ga. which is basically Chattanooga. They weren't "brought" here......they never left.

I saw one on Unionville/Chapel Hill Rd. in October of 2012 at about 6:30 in the morning. I was driving toward Shelbyville from Chapel Hill at dawn and I saw a large animal running across the field towards the road. I slowed down so our paths would not cross at the same time because I thought it was a deer and it was moving fast. I realized as it crossed right in front of me that it wasn't a deer at all but was a large cat with a very long tail and a black tip on the end. It jumped into the brush, stopped to turn and look at me, and disappeared into the brush. I grew up in Asheville, NC and am very familiar with cougars. I know what I saw. It was probably about 4 feet long with a 3 foot long tail and of a darker tannish brown color.

Tracks found near Henry Horton State Park and adjacent to Duck River during colder months of 2012/2013. No tracks seen in the area late 2014/2015. Tracks were sized at 3-3 1/2 inches indicating a large cat of probably 150 lbs range. Too large for bobcat./ One report in Verona stated it was perhaps a black panther, as it was seen from home about 100 yards away./ There have been reports of livestock killed. Photos of a goat show the flesh sliced with claws, and does not appear to that of canine attack./ Report of tarp ripped and claws marks of large animal trying to get at smaller game under materials stored on pallets. That indicating something with very sharp claws./ Hind quarter of deer found in woods apparently carried from place of kill./ Multiple other comments by individuals who own property around the area./ Cat paw prints are distinctive in that they have a "W" at the base, and generally do not leave claw marks when walking or running./ Although the Tennessee Wildlife Department will not make comment, the release of coyote to reduce deer populations in areas not suitable for safe hunting is a possibility. And then in several areas comments were floating around that to reduce the coyote populations that became a problem cougars were introduced./ Wildlife is a chain of happenings. Human debris and garbage draw rodents, which draw small predators, that are game for larger predators. That creates danger for livestock and humans alike. Due diligence for pets, and children is good practice all should observe.

I have a duck that had claws instead of flippers. It was from breding a big duck of mine with a neighbor cat. I once saw it tear into a dog chasing it. It could kill a ghost I'm sure of it.

Saw a track at the end of my road over 2 years ago that was feline & huge. I've seen a bobcat out here but this print was massive & had a good amount of weight on it. Scared me. I room pictures at the time but have since replaced & lost that phone. Just glad to know I'm not crazy.

In the late 90's I lived near Milltown and one morning as I was driving to town, a cougar stepped out in the road in front of me and then two spotted babies jumped out behind her. I called the conservation officer and he said he gets about a dozen calls a year of sightings. So, yes, there are mountain lions in Marshall County but fortunately, they're very secretive and hopefully as frightened of people as we are of them.]
