Go for it. Im tired of the grippin and wish people would get a backbone....if that is what they choose.

Using inmates to mow and other jobs sounds like a good idea, but i suspect doing so would set county up for law suits, because most of these people would'nt work in a pie factory, they won't even support their kids all they concern themselves with is where to get their pain pills and if made to actually work they know how to use the system to fake injuries and then tax payers would have to bear cost of law suit, but in theory its a good idea.

Much easier to grip on here than sit at meetings and not allowed to talk!
Never know some good ideas on here from people griping might get read, where they are not allowed said, at those so called School Board meetings!

Tell the school board members who care, to read Topic!

How is it if they use the jail inmates for recycling, can they not use the jail inmates for mowing, and grounds keeping?
Fact is why not use some as janitors in those public buildings like the Court House and Schools?

I totally agree with using inmates for jobs such as mowing and outdoor groundskeeping,I was just playing devils advocate as to what may happen given mindset of alot of these inmates, however I would'nt use them for school jobs, too risky for children.

Have there been worst crooks in the schools / public office caught and called mistakes, than those in jail caught and call shoplifting or stealing?

Over the years has Marshall County / Lewisburg had worse crooks, alleged drug dealers, thieves, con men, elected to public office, appointed to public positions, even hired in the schools teaching, coaching and on public boards misappropriate more taxpayer's money called mistakes, than the small time crooks in jail serving time?

Had you not rather work the small time crooks, like shoplifters, bad check writers, those who don't pay their alimony on time, just small time crooks, in the schools and public buildings, mowing, while serving their jail time?
Than hire or Elect Big time Crooks in the schools or public office who allow or misuse the school system or public office and taxpayer's money, to rob the taxpayer's blind?

I would not be comfortable with jailbirds working inside school or on school grounds around my children.I would not be willing to gamble with their wellbeing, thats my job as a parent.

What about on nights and weekends using supervised jail labor at the schools, public buildings, parks and such holidays during the summer, when school is not in cession?
Just Think do worse crooks walk the streets, eat in the restaurants, use the rec center, walk the walking trails, or serve as teachers, coaches even some so called public officials?
If the small time crooks did what was alleged / reported some of Marshall County / Lewisburg City Officials seems allow done, would they put those small time crooks and there accomplishes under the jail and throw away the keys?
Yet do the police and public officials seem to just look the other way and let those public officials call those just mistakes?

I am not in favor of inmates working at the local schools. There are sex offenders, thieves, persons who're angry at everything and assaultive, dope addicts, and more. NOT AROUND MY KIDS!!

"The teachers have been through so much turmoil these last five years," said Jackie Abernathy, a former teacher who now works at the Central Office. "It was a terrible situation. I would like to see our teachers have a year when they can just teach school and enjoy the children."

Abernathy from 2009 Tribune opposed to reverting to staggered elementary schools.

Kennedy summed it up by saying parents should be more concerned about what their children would be learning than where they have to take them to school.

Where did Kennedy's children go to school?

On this topic, nothing has changed in recent research on staggering the grades - just money involved (more money received by this route). If you are wondering on the recent research, read http://educationnext.org/stuck-in-the-middle/ this is only about 2 years ago and our state was part of the study. As far as attending board meetings, they have no interest in what a "citizen" has to say, try it and let me know if you fair better than I - want reason or disagree and want further discussion well, they may just have you removed from the meeting. If you want reasons, they may regurgitate all the rainbows and unicorn farts that it is all going to be a great commune with all the students together living in harmony. It's the typical we are going to take away your right to choose anything and you can't stop us - and they are right... Until people stand together and say no you won’t, that is what you get. If we had 200 parents state they will be pulling their child or children out to home school - that will put the breaks on - losing money per child wakes them up quick, fast and in a hurry. SO, go online get the paperwork and notify the central office of your intention - enough people do that and I bet some dialog will open and not forced down your throat. Cut the money trail... These people work for you, if they do not value your input – especially if you disagree – give them the same option they gave you, no votes, just a meeting to tell them to hit the bricks.

I don't like it at all. For heaven's sake, they just finished transitioning to K-6. Has the research changed in regards to what's best for students? Is consistency no longer valued? The fact is that students lose ground each time they transition between schools. That has been proven.
Lewisburg parents currently have three choices for elementary schools. I think having a choice is very important.

The public buildings like courthouse and annex does not want to be responsible for watching over the inmates if they are there working. The sheriff's dept does not have enough jail employees to send them out to babysit. Plus they would have to pay overtime for the ones that did.

Why not don't the taxpayers already have a bunch of crooks working at the courthouse and annex can you just read the findings of the county audit reports or look at the County Debt?
Could they use the Cornersville Cops who work radar on the interstate for to watch those jail inmates might not look as bad!

Daily Horoscope for May 20

Aries

As the Sun cruises into chatty Gemini, you are likely to get involved in a spirited discussion in which you can explain your beliefs and values to other people. Not only will this help you to clarify what you think, it will also give others a useful insight into what really matters to you. On a more mundane note, this is a good day to return something faulty to a shop because you'll be able to put your case well.
