What does everyone think of the Lewisburg elementary schools being split up?

I love my children. I wouldn't send them to Lewisburg schools.

I don't like it at all. For heaven's sake, they just finished transitioning to K-6. Has the research changed in regards to what's best for students? Is consistency no longer valued? The fact is that students lose ground each time they transition between schools. That has been proven.

Lewisburg parents currently have three choices for elementary schools. I think having a choice is very important.

Like you have any authorityto have any input if a decision was made to change conditions.

No, research has not changed. Study and implementation should take at least a couple of year--at least a couple of years. This process is moving way TOO fast. Slow down, think it through before interrupting the lives of so many families, but most importantly, our children.

You have to realize the state has made new requirments for the schools, therefore the schoolboard is having to make adjustments to our schools. If you think about it now teachers, principals etc.. can focus better on age appropriate teaching. I truely believe this is a good move. I do understand that there is alot of emotion involved. I just think this way there will be more accountability. Just my opinion.

I believe the more socialism and spreading the wealth mentality is the best for all educational facilities. Obama is the greatest President ever. Sexy too. To bad he is married, well that would not be an issue for me.

I cannot understand the citizens of Marshall County. How in the world did this happen? No parents were surveyed! It seems as if it was all done under the table. Please don't say that the State has anything to do with this mess, it doesn't. MES was a K-2 school for many years, for about 4 yrs it has been K-6. It was built for little people not older children. Westhills was 3-6 for years. Now it is going to be 2-3, it was built for older students. Where is the logic? As a parent, with 4 children, I don't want have to drive to 4 different schools. It seems as though this was not well thought out. As a taxpayer, who works every day, I am concerned that this move is not benefical for the children and it will do more harm than good. The school board is elected by the people - why don't they listen to the people who elected them?

Your questions about why don't they listen to the people who elected them? The answer is most of them, probably a majority, don't care what you think because they don't believe they have to answer to you because they know better than the average person. Just to mention a few try caling KG, MK, BK, DM and see what they tell you and if I am wrong, I will apologize. Don't think JA would have even been chosen the director if not for them whether you agreed or not. She was the yes woman at the office from JDP for many years.

As a parent, you will not have to drive to 4 different schools. Just put their little butts on the school bus.

Is the only time they seem to listen to the people when they are running for office?
Maybe if they would read the old local papers, do real background checks, drug tests, on who they hire, they would have more money not spent on coaches extra pay but that could be spent on good teachers and schools!
Should they look at the schools in Alabama with sloped tin roofs and two floors high?
Get bids from some of those contractors?

I believe it is all about getting money and giving money. Getting more money from the state and creating and giving out new positions to those who helped put people in positions of authority. I believe the answers always lead to politics and money.

When has the public been allowed to vote on where to build schools, pay under the table extra to coaches or raise taxes?

Why not use the county jail inmates to mow and keep up all ball fields, school grounds, public parks, golf course etc if they can be used to work for recycling?

They should also take a bus over to housing and bus the welfare collecters and use them as well. It should be considered shameful to collect a check and not work if you are at least capable of doing some sort of work.

But, No...that would be disrespectful or belittling someone. Collecting a check and living in gov housing for life is disrespectful to those working for a living all their lives.

Getting people under their control and dependent is the first step. Once that happens...and they are not needed for votes anymore, what would happen to those who are no longer productive? Your guess is as good as mine, because they are nothing more than liabilities to an already drained system.

They could take the senior citizens bus over there and offer any who is able and wish JOBS! County and city jobs first!

Not dock their welfare or cut their housing not punish them for working!
But by using the jail inmates it might cost less and those might be more able, being the County picks up their health costs, food costs, and housing already!
Sure would beat paying some Foot Ball Coaches over $100 Thousand a year for so called extras like mowing the ball fields or what ever!
Might even be better than hiring all that mowing done! Don't they use some to mow the grave yards?

How is it if people are considered salary workers, do those think then they need extra pay?

I would sure not knock those on Welfare or living in the housing projects they need all they can get!
Just remember some public official approved for that welfare and knows more than looks tell!

Yes, they made it too easy. Maybe I am a worker type and dispise lazy people. You get what you put into life. If you work a little you get a little, you work a lot you get a lot. Your attitude, behavior and looks go a long way.

The young make themselves unemployable with tats, and metal throughout their bodies. Should I pay them for their own wrong decisions in life? I kept myself clean because I know it is a competetive world out there and I need every edge I can get. They seem not to care.

I don't dispise any people, just try to understand and learn from the worker and the lazy man! Is that not how life plays out young and a hard worker, so later in life you can become old and a lazy man?

I had rather hire a good worker who looks different, than a good looking worker who is a bad worker!

curious about people unhappy...do any of you go to the schoolboard meetings? no,people love to grip but no one attends these meetings. if u dont like it, show up to protest. make it known. stop gripping if you cant stand for what you belive. stop fussing and show up to meetings. everyone cries we didnt know....well go to meetings...stop beating school board memebers up.....Do you wanna do their job? Go for it. Im tired of the grippin and wish people would get a backbone....if that is what they choose.
