If he gave the stuff back, then the police should stop looking for him. There probably was no gun. If they still go after him, then no one would do the right thing again. He did something wrong and then gave it back. Let it go and forgive, so others will not be afraid to fix something when they did wrong.

BULLSHIT! He still robbed him. Even though he returned the items, the act of robbery was committed. Then, there is the issue of the revolver. I'd bet the farm it's stolen. He should be caught and then shot in the head just like every other parasitic creep that roams those city streets looking to steal from somebody.
