The YDR has always envisioned York County as one
village. That Is because they want to see the cost of the crime and poverty of the city exported to the county. It's called misery loves
company. The people In question made the correct
decision.

Maybe the Boroughs did make assumptions without a factual basis, but so did YDR. Better services and more cost effective? Unfortunately, most studies on mergers (for whole municipalities or just departments) do not support this supposition.

I dont understand how anyone in there right mind thinks that municipal mergers are cheaper. Think about it most of the boroughs have part time workers. When taken over by the Townships they will need to hire additional staff additional public works personal some are union to boot. And you think this ig oign to be cheaper. Now these two Townships mentioned in here Newberry and East Manchester think they will get the Fire co.s and EMS to merge. Please these guys need to wake up they are dreaming and wasting tax payers money doing these dcde studies. Yea Money from Harrisburg that doesn't need to be spent if all the players choose not to merge together why waste precious tax dollars on such things. Look how much has already been spent of the east manchester twp. manchester borough and mt. wolf borough study. I mean more than anyone reading here could think of like 30-35k maybe higher. I believe these yorkcounts need to justify there jobs and a few in harrisburg likewise. Now East Manchester Twp. wants the two Fire
Dept that serve there twp to come together and drag the EMS service in. There is not even a Fire Dept. in the Twp. They are in the Boro's. I swear these politcal people get voted into office and there heads swell Vote them out when there term expires and put people in who are for the taxpayers and not thereselves.

East Manchester Township, If you want a township Fire Marshall then appoint one. Why waste precious tax dollars on a study. The only Emergency Service in your township is EMS and you barely support them. They are pretty much self sufficient and it is dishearting to know that you dont support this Life Saving organization, like the way you support the Two Fire Depts. You have tried this at least twice in the last five years and it did not happen so now lets bring in DCDE to do a study blow money waste peoples time in meeting after meeting and it will croke just like your big municipal merger study. Let well enough alone.... SAVE TAXPAYERS MONEY PLEASE!!!!!!!!
