Making movies locally?

Full story: Berkshire Eagle

With a major movie production recently taking place in New Lebanon, N.Y., and a 60-acre movie studio complex under construction in South Windsor, Conn., the region's movie industry professionals are promoting the idea of building the region's film industry labor pool and attracting more movie-making business to the area.

Give me a break....it's another pay to play scheme or in this case, pay to work.....I have been in and worked on movies....maybe I should set up some bunk event and keep all the door money.....give me a break.

Until MA increase tax incentives to Hollywood, they'll always shoot in nearby states not in the state of Massachusetts.

We also had Mass Illusions, producing special effects for Hollywood in Lenox, MA - one of the few full effects facilities on the east coast. But were bought out and moved to CA in 1998.

Several movies that I was involved with directly wanted to film in MA but were discouraged by all the petty BS from local towns as well as the MTA and the Gov's office with regards to tax credits.
Great job folks all the money (or at least most of it) ended up being spent in NY.
There are folks actually making a difference locally but are getting hamstrung by state and local gov't. pettiness

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Virgo

You aren't fooling anyone - it's easy for everyone else to see that inexperienced people are unaware of their obligations, Virgo. You're grumpy about starting a familiar process from the beginning again, but don't let that get in the way of getting on with it. Sour grapes have no place in your daily dealings. Although you may 'own' a project, it's ultimately in the hands of someone else. Deal with it and then move on.
