these dogs in general must be taught to be aggresive if you raise them to be mean and never try to control them then they will be as many kids are today.unruly and deadly.if you get a dog that has been ruined then it must be put down,if you find a puppy and treat the dog with love and teach it not to harm any thing then you will have a life long friend.i have a jack russel terior male and a pit bull that could eat the small dog but has never touched him nor has he ever touched my grandson my cows or my horses.when you do need a stand up dog its a pit bull terior.

No Pit Bulls should not be banned!!!It is a proven fact that the number 1 aggressive dog in the world is..........ownership!! Any dog can be made to be dangerous! ANY DOG!!!! I have a pit bull named Thunder and he is as big as my 2 year old nephew on all fours and acts like a big puppy! He is the best dog I have ever had, and I have had many. He loves my cat, my puppy German Shepard, my kids, me......and anyone who walks through my door! These breed of dogs are bred to be loyal to their owners! Try googling that sometime!

no, pitbulls should not be banned in Texas. People make them what they want. If you train a pit to obey it will listen. You have to know when its time to play with the pit and when not to. Who ever came up with this idea about pitbulls being banned in Texas is out of there mind. Get a life and find something else to talk about...

"PITBULLS should not be discriminated against. It is not the Breed its self that has the problem, it is the irresponsoble owners that inbreed the dogs that give them the agression by a natural defect.IT IS NOT THE BREED TO BLAME IT IS THE PEOPLE THAT BREED INCORRECTLY AND IRRESPONSOBLELY RAISE THE DOGS AND TELL THEM "GOOD DOG" FOR THE ATTACKING OF OTHER ANIMALS. PEOPLE TRAIN THESE ANIMALS TO BE AGRESSIVE."

My neighbor down the street in the Windcrest area of San Antonio owns 2 pit bulls. He and his gang banger kids get drunk and stoned on weekends and entertain themselves by sending them out to attack people and other dogs on the street. Last Sunday I saw a neighbor being attacked on the street. He ran into my yard for protection. We called the Bexar county police but they never showed up to take a report. My little dog was attacked twice and almost killed and the sherriffs department still did nothing. The sherriffs dept is more interested in giving out traffic tickets. If the police won't protect us we need to ban all pit bulls. The guy down the street who owns the pitbulls just got out of prison and the police still do nothing!!!

I have a 1yr old female American staffordshire terrier, it is a cousin to the pittbull and has a lot of the same characteristics/features. People want this breed banned too. My dog is the sweetest dog I have ever had. She is well socialized and very obidient. I have never mistreated her in anyway and she is in no way aggressive. When children are physically or emotionally abused they sometimes become killers. They kill their parents, siblings or friends. When animals are abused they too can become violent. So what is the difference? Humans kill humans and SOMETIMES the consequence is death. Should we execute all humans because some humans kill. NO. We punish the individual. Why ban all these dogs because of a few?

I have raised pit bulls for over 10 years and they are by far my favorite breed of dog. They are the most loyal and eager to please breed I've ever worked with. My 4 year old female pit is an absolutely perfect dog. She is trained, well socialized, incredibly smart, and always hanging out with my 3 year old daughter and her friends. The breed should not be persecuted for the mistakes of their owners. My dog would go to the ends of the earth to make me happy, just as any pit would do, so if you teach them that aggression is okay, they'll do it. Saying the entire breed should be punished for the mistakes of irresponsible owners is IGNORANT!!! Clearly anyone who believes in pushing an entire breed of animal one step closer to extinction isn't very bright... All terriers were bred to hunt other animals, so yes, pit bull terriers can be animal aggressive, but this can be controlled with proper training & socialization. Leaving any dog in a yard or chained up isn't the way to have a well balanced pet or even guard dog. If you want a great dog, invite them into your family, ensure them that they are safe and loved and that's what you'll get in return!

Wow, this is sad, you say it, your neighbors are irresponsible yet you think all pit bulls should be punished? I also find it highly unlikely that the police wouldn't do anything if they found evidence that what you described was happening. Of course! Beagles are bread to hunt, Collies to heard, Shepards to guard, Blood hounds to track and Pit Bulls were bread to KILL. Breading matters.

As an animal control officer,as well as an avid pit bull owner, your dog is what you make of it.When I was a kid,it was Dobermans.Every large dog breed that has ever been involved in an attack has been stigmatized through time.Hell, maybe it's time to get rid of all dogs that bite,my vote goes to getting rid of Chihuahua's,I've been bitten by more of them than any other breed of dog.Edu cate yourselves, people, before you speak out. It's not the breed of dog,it's the BREED OF OWNER,that's the problem.
