Wow! Fitchburg memorializes some wino bum by naming a park after him? Are they serious? For what reason? Because this guy took a leak and left his sausage shaped "calling cards" throughout the downtown area.

Personally, I hope Fitchburg Plumbing Supply wins the property at auction. Maybe they will use it to display some of their product line. After all, it must be in the public interest to have a SuperFlush toilet, maybe a bidet, and a working urinal for all the homeless, druggies and bums to use.

The park was named after Harvey Acker many years ago. Big "A" was always picking up Harvey and they had a love/hate relationship.

The park and the naming of the park was part of a lawsuit settlement since Harvey fell into a manhole that the cover was left off and he died. Back in those days $100,000 was a lot for the city to pay out in a lawsuit so they had the land and was able to use that instead of the payment.

$100,000 is the most the city can be sued for. This is in order to protect the city from financial bankruptcy in a lawsuit. The city is self-insured. All city vehicles, equipment and buildings do not carry any insurance. That would cost millions.
