A 45-year-old Fitchburg man was arraigned Wednesday on charges he helped set a fire at the West End Diner on Nov. 13. Judge Maura McCarthy ordered Joseph J. Phillips, 129 Boutelle St., Fitchburg, held on $25,000 cash or $250,000 surety bail, according to court documents.

No, he was in the diner and started the fire as his friend was still in the basement. He wanted it to look like his friend started the fire and died in it.
He also was in the process of hiring a hit man for his wife too.
DA isn't dropping all charges. There have been more charges filed.
