It's typical for people who DO NOT own pets or DO NOT like animals in general - to want to propose these idiotic laws for the pet owners in town. And better yet, they go on to suggest we try to change the natural behavior of animals too??!! These kind of people don't care that the majority of us are law abiding; they don't care that you are keeping your pet healthy or on your premises, licensed, etc. Nope -they don't care. It's a personal agenda for them - and wanting others to pay for their left wing ideas - these are the coolade drinkers! Scary, but thank goodness most of us stick to water!

I found 3 2day old kittens on the night the Red Sox beat those damn Yankees in game 7 (10-17-04) they were abandoned as some jerk dumped them in the woods as I was walking my dog,I took them home, cared for them (was not easy)and had all neutered,my son took one,and I have 2 the best cats I ever had. Glad I found them when I did as they make me laugh every day!

Great idea. I could declare my dog as a dependent! Better yet, I could ignore the law all together and get social security benefits for my little "illegal alien".

If you don't own a dog , that is your right. It is also my right to not have to put up with a dog that my neighbor wants to have .
I have no desire to listen to your mutt bark every time someone walks by the property. I have no desire to walk over my lawn and have to step in your dogs s**T. So, if you own a dog and he barks every time someone comes by and it can be heard by your neighbors, then shut it up. Further if he is outside and wants to come in, LET HIM IN! I don't want to listen to your dog barking to come in. I DON'T WANT A DOG. Ther are a lot of ignorant dog owners. Put your brains in gear, think about it. |

I have the exact same problem in my neighborhood. And if it's not the kids screaming, it's the grandmother screaming at them. Can we start getting licences for these kids too? |
|
So let me get this straight...JOHN W. SMITH wants to increase dog licenses to $50 each so he can PUNISH his neighbor for having noisy dogs. Does Mr. Smith really think that punishing all 2000 dog owners in town is going to endear him to the general population of Leominster? I assume that Mr. Smith is not a dog owner. Maybe we should petition the town to fine NON-DOG OWNERS for not owning dogs, because after all they are contributing to the shelter problem by not adopting those dogs.
Oh, I almost forgot...he wants to punish ALL cat owners who let their cats out because his neighbors cat pees in his yard. That should be good for pissing off another 2000+ people. Nothing personal Mr. Smith, but I think you are a real A$$ for trying to punish 4000+ people because you have a problem neighbor. If the price of a dog license does increase I'm sure your name, MR. JOHN W. SMITH FROM LEOMINSTER, will be on every bodies lips, and they won't be wishing you a happy birthday if you know what I mean! I'm sure you won't be able to leave your house without someone wanting to wish you a happy day, so you will stay at home and hide! Just think, you will be stuck staying right next to the problem you hate the most. Have a happy day MR. JOHN W. SMITH FROM LEOMINSTER! |
|
Don't they have to have a "green card" first? |
|
Dude! you need to chill! What are you sooooo pissed off about? There are a lot more annoyences in this country than barking dogs. I live in a neighborhood where there are 14 dogs, not once has a dog crapped on my property. So they bark big deal!It lets us know someone is near our homes.Yes there are some ignorant dog owners, but there are more who take care and respect thier neighbors and do not allow the barking to continue. Call your local dog officer and report the annoyance if this barking persits, |
|
If Mr. John W Smith (How ornery a name)gets this increase from $7-$11 to $50 I for one will NOT pay it,maybe there will be quite a few people go to his property and leave him a little something from Fido!OH crap gotta find out where he lives. |
|
You don't have any rights over a neighbor having one dog or two dogs or 5 cats or 6 birds, etc. IF they are not a nuisance, mind your own business!Just because a dog barks at you because you are near them or happen to be near the neighbors house, of course the dog is going to act protective - nature of the beast - and bark! Why don't you try talking to your neighbors if you have complaints?? Makes sense doesn't it? But, you really can't complain about a dog who barks on occasion at you...BUT, if it's barking in the middle of the night, early hours of the morning - for lengthy periods of time, then complain - this is where you HAVE RIGHTS! |

I feel horrible when I put my dogs out in the morning, afternoon and evening. My male is deaf and barks for no apparent reason, constantly, sooooooo I let them out there long enough to do their business and take them right back in, maybe 10 minutes, because I have RESPECT for my neighbors. My female allerts me to anyone near or on my property and it has proved to be effective once when someone was trying to take my 4 wheeler. There were no vehicles in the driveway as mine was in the shop and my hubby was at work. This bonehead thought no one was home and he could have a field day with my stuff. WRONG, dog barked (different than I have heard her do) so I ran to the window to see this loser trying to push my machine out of my driveway. Needless to say she got extra lovings and treats that night.

Full time animal officer in Leominster? Is the same person who runs the FULL TIME KENNEL also ? Once again, taxpayers money is being wasted. A year ago I called the "dog officer" in regards to a neigbors dog that was running loose and causing problems. The "dog officer's" response was:
I contacted the neighbors via phone and they assured me there is no dog. Based on their word, I will not be investigating the incident. |
|
OK PAUL, for once I will agree with you. There must be a BLUE MOON out |
|
I've NEVER had that problem with the Leominster Dog officer. He's always done right by me. I've tied strays in my yard to have him pick up if necessary, and called him with concerns of animal abuse. He's always treated me with the utmost respect and taken care of matters quite quickly. Perhaps it's all in the tact. |

I, on a very serious note agree with the licensing and restrictions of felines. They should be tied, for the welfare of thier own family. Cats come in contact with wild animals that could be rabid or sickly I am alergic to cats and suffer tremendously. I have recently obtained medication, why should I have to adminster on a daily basis because of the cat owners around me. Thier in my trash, on my cars, lawn furniture and the immense odor of urine is unbearable. Strays should be picked up, they are multiplying in the 17-19 Federal st area, there is an area where a women comes and throws food and has buckets on thier sides for shelter. I beg of you to control this problem. It would also bring in money for the city, dont go up on dog licensing, lets include the cats!!!!!!

“If not let us take care of the stray cats roaming the town with B-B Guns to help herd the population.”
Because the same people who want to make pet ownership prohibitively expensive and thus enact a defacto ban on the private ownership of most domesticated animals (except for those wealthy enough to afford the 500%+ tax increase) also want to ban your BB gun. ‘… One Nation under PETA with Liberty and Justice for none.’ |

$90,000 per year for an animal control officer? Then again, some of the police detectives make $100,000 per year from what I was told.
