What are our Caldwell County schools educating our youth on exactly? Oh yeah, chemistry at it's finest. BTW - the article states he was making meth "the old fashioned way". Is that one of the 3 R's? Scary to even send my child to school anymore...

If you do your job as a parent and teach your child right from wrong instead of depending on the teachers at school to raise your kid, you won't have that problem, none of mine ever done nothing like that!

Old school, judging by your grammar I'm guessing none of your children have an education, following in the footsteps of their father... You're a loser

Small town small minds. Expecting today's way to be as it were 20 years ago. Hibriten has parents pulling kids out of there because of their drug problems. I think if you reread what the parent was trying to get across is how bad things are now in schools and what IS being taught. Not that their child was flawless or had done any wrong. Comprehension is a subject most Caldwell Citizens should be required to take yearly just for residing here. It would eliminate stupid comments and alot of slow drivers in the passing lane. Goody for you and yours that you walk on water. That comment had zero to do with what the writer stated. That comment sounds like a Baptist looking down their nose at everyone around them.

If residency depended on annual comprehension test by citizens here, that along with removing bad drivers and over judgmental baptist, the place would look like a deserted desert ghost town. Then again, maybe that's not such a bad idea ..lol

Thank you "geez". That was exactly what I was expressing. I have a child in kindergarten and worry about what type of characters the school system is exposing children to these days. Recent news reports indicate he taught middle school age children. What a sad reflection this is on our schools.

Kids may take a chemistry class but I feel sure their not teaching them how to manufacture meth. The kids are learning that on the street where parents allow them to hang out with the wrong calibre of people. I made sure I knew the kids my children knew and their parents. Look, my kids aren't perfect and all we can do as parents is try our best to raise them right and hope our hard work pays off in the end. I've been very fortunate that mine grew up and never got in trouble with the law, they all have good jobs and make their own way and thank God none of them has drug addictions.

Well said, one "old school" issue many people have forgotten is called " parenting" Many but not all tend to think the schools should raise their kids and do not get involved in the kids lives enough. I always thought my parents were strict but they always knew my friends, teachers, my activities and at least had a basic idea of who my friends parents were. They taught us right from wrong and gave us direction on my moral compass. did I always follow it? Of course not but I always knew in the back of my mind my up bringing which in turn did reel me in more than one time from straying too far off course.

you have every right as a good parents to be worried.Things have gotten real bad in schools these days drugs gangs bad influences everywhere . I think that all teachers should be subject to random drug tests, not just state but nationwide backgrounds checks and their homes checked before their allowed to teach. There have been lots of sex offenders arrested after the fact, and drug dealers caught after the fact . old school says an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Apparently the prevention is not good enough if these offenders are still falling through the cracks and getting into the classrooms to influence our precious children.

Is there a law that prohibits every tax payer and parent in this county from filing a separate suit or complaint against this idiot for what he has done? Our school system has at it's disposal, the opportunity to set an example here -file a separate suit for endangerment of lives. They have US Marshall unlimited surveillance to comb through to see if any property or operations took place on school property. Even down to seeing if the guy used a taxpaid sticky note to write a drug bill note or meth grocery list. We can't wait to hope for a Judge who will punish him by ordering him wear a sign and parade 8 hours daily for 120 days on the square of Lenoir in all weather stating "I was a teacher assistant manufacturing meth" -it will never happen. We do have phones, emails and US Mail access to our school system to take further action with our voiced complaints. They could if they wanted to which would result that maybe somewhere someday, another school will not hire him. Otherwise, it's just court appointed attorney, probation and seeping through cracks to another school somewhere else. TODAYS parents pray, pray, pray all day long for our children who have to go to school with these people. Sit in class with classmates who do not live normal lives because the classmates have "children" of their own or a parent in jail for drugs or some with no parents or raised by great great grandparents. It's not 1970, 80 or 90 any more. Its a world that TODAYS parents sure do not want for our children. This county is overrun with 11-14 year old having child after child after child and nothing is ever said to stop the problem. Teaching your child right from wrong has nothing to do with sending your child to school with a teacher assistant who manufactures meth --it's like sending your innocent child into a war zone to fend for themselves. There is no telling how many times a strung out meth head came into the parking lot at school to get something from this guy or his car with children just feet away. But we'll never know because our CCSchool System will never do anything further about it. "Law enforcement is handling this" is as far as it will go because doing something furhter means paperwork for someone "busy" in the office. I know as a parent of TODAY -I'm sick of the crap we have to deal with. Like Hibriten -it hasn't been safe since Marine officer Brian Oliver left as the principal there. This place is a bigger pit than it was with jellyfish Lewis.

Not to minimize the school drug problems but let us be honest folks-this county is awash in narcotics and meth. Makes sense that the stuff is in our schools as it is in our neighborhoods, businesses and just about everywhere else.

What has that got to do with anything. We as parents don't want drug dealers for teachers. You can do everything right for your kids but teachers have a big influence on them.

His girlfriend was Lynn Smith...they had been dating for a pretty good while I believe. She dated or lets just say she was very close to Marc when he was in high school and she was a high school teacher at South Caldwell. She had a open marriage and she had quite a few close friends that were guys and yes everyone knew about it too.
