Will leaving Jones in there or electing Hutchings make the Sheriff's Dept better? Won't you please enlighten us on how? Anyone can make negative statements but can you tell us why or why not?

I don't blame you for feeling the way you do about the signs, just please don't jump on the Brackett bandwagon and think that will make things better - it will not.

The only way to get a better Sheriff's Office is to get Jones out. His poor decision making like with promotions and just not caring about this county the citizens or his employees. For example when Deputy Klutz was killed, Jones was no where to be found, he let the Sheriff from Burke County come in and bail him out. He is always out of the office or at some school padding his resume. Jones forces employees to contribute to his campaign and put signs in their yard and has BJ and Monty drive around on County time in a County vehicle to make sure the signs are up. Anybody in office would be better than Jones.

I have called them and neede their help on right off of the top of my head 8 times that I can think off. It was never the same officer but they didn't do their job not once.
Here are 3 of the examples.
I called about a DWI. Seen him pull out with a beer in his hand he was stone drunk. I live close to him the response was we have to see it. All they had to do was wait for him to come back drunk but they wouldn't do that.
Acidentally locked my new born up in the car and they wouldn't help. Said they may damage my locks.
My house was broke in but since the amount of stuff that was took didn't have certain value they couldn't even check for finger prints.
Now can you see why people are tired of this rinky dink police enforcement.
I agree, something needs to happen soon or else this county will go to hell in a hand basket

I guess the good sheriff should maybe go back to Quantico and learn about this policy. Hmmmmm, I hope there aren't any pictures or recordings out there, that would be just terrible.......lol.....

§ 153A‑99. County employee political activity.

(a) Purpose. The purpose of this section is to ensure that county employees are not subjected to political or partisan coercion while performing their job duties, to ensure that employees are not restricted from political activities while off duty, and to ensure that public funds are not used for political or partisan activities.

It is not the purpose of this section to allow infringement upon the rights of employees to engage in free speech and free association. Every county employee has a civic responsibility to support good government by every available means and in every appropriate manner. Employees shall not be restricted from affiliating with civic organizations of a partisan or political nature, nor shall employees, while off duty, be restricted from attending political meetings, or advocating and supporting the principles or policies of civic or political organizations, or supporting partisan or nonpartisan candidates of their choice in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the State and the Constitution and laws of the United States of America.

(b) Definitions. For the purposes of this section:

(1) "County employee" or "employee" means any person employed by a county or any department or program thereof that is supported, in whole or in part, by county funds;

(2) "On duty" means that time period when an employee is engaged in the duties of his or her employment; and

(3) "Workplace" means any place where an employee engages in his or her job duties.

(c) No employee while on duty or in the workplace may:

(1) Use his or her official authority or influence for the purpose of interfering with or affecting the result of an election or nomination for political office; or

(2) Coerce, solicit, or compel contributions for political or partisan purposes by another employee.

(d) No employee may be required as a duty or condition of employment, promotion, or tenure of office to contribute funds for political or partisan purposes.

(e) No employee may use county funds, supplies, or equipment for partisan purposes, or for political purposes except where such political uses are otherwise permitted by law.

(f) To the extent that this section conflicts with the provisions of any local act, local ordinance, resolution, or policy, this section prevails to the extent of the conflict.(1991, c. 619, s. 1; 1993, c. 298, s. 1.)

Thanks for your information. Does this mean that those who met with employees and "ask for" a $100.00 campaign contribution or $10.00 from each paycheck broke the law? If an employee asks another employee to contribute to the campaign of a department head then they have broken the law or were in violation of this personnel ordinance? What are the penalties for violating this ordinance? Who would need to be contacted in order to get an investigation started?

We are not all going to lose our jobs when Jones loses. We laugh when we hear someone from the command staff say; "if you don't kiss Jone's ass, we will all lose our jobs." Do you not know that we are smarter than that. By pushing us to donate our money and put those signs in our yards, we tell our families, friends, neighbors and anyone we can to vote for Captain Brackett.
We smile at you in the hallways and even talk to you, but we are smarter than you think! You can't stand it when we talk among ourselves, but we still do. You guys are sure worried about something lately........ We are looking forward to May!

I have talk to alot of people about losing there jobs from the sheriff dept. They seem to have no good reason to dismiss these people from there jobs. No good reason or proof has been given to them I know that Sheriff Jones may fire people if he wants to but this is rediculous. Can any tell me why that nice deputy lady was fired when no proof of the accusations were given? And there was mention that one of the officer's wife was fired from the dept. and was given 3 different reasons why she was fired. That is 2 positions that I have just heard about that will cost more tax money to train people to fill the positions for no reason. Does anyone on here know what happened. I was told the lady deputy was fired because Brackett's home health care helps her with her mother and that no one really knows why the officer's wife was fired other than a poorly trained new supervisor.

Wow. If I were him, I would resign. Another election on all this already coming out? I heard a bunch of people at Walmart talking about, then again at McDONALD'S this morning. The seniors aren't pleased at all. I know a few girl who the new captain has bothered to no end. That man in charge of patrol.....what a joke. Stock up on ammo people, you don't even need to bother calling this department for anything....unless you are into swinging or need a boootay call. What a stinking mess. One deputy said this is just the tip of the iceberg, well, somebody tell Jones the Titanic is ready to be boarded, he can get right on in there. Tell his sleazy new Captain he can harass every female on board. That new Captain is the the equivalent of a funeral director who fondles every "guest" they embalm.

You are right. He needs to resign and even then the damage has been done to the republican party in this county. Next sheriffs election is a sealed deal for the democrats because of jones and the republican party isn't happy. They will probably be giving a no confidence vote soon or they had better if they want to salvage anything of their party next election.
