R.I.P. Its sad to because this guy was to graduate the next day, and this happened right by my cousins school and the driver of the truck was speeding, naturally, because the cops, not all of them, dont seem to that much out in these parts.

Actually the dump truck driver was going the posted speed, which was 45 miles per hour, he was not speeding, per the article in the Lenoir News Topic, and investigation done by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

When trucks park parallel to the road at that store you can not see when you pull out into traffic....

I know, and that is the main cause for the wreck.

Something needs to be done about that. If the owner of the store will not put a stop to it then the government needs to do something. Some concrete dividers to prevent parking too close to the road would work.

Well see thats the thing the managers just swithced at the store, and and transfer trucks park right in the way and no one can see around them so its a wonder that there hasnt been anymore crashes than there has been.

I guess Stanely Wheeling still owns the building unless he sold it when he stopped operating it.

In any event it is a safety hazard that needs to be corrected, by force of government if necessary.

You must have been misinformed because the dump truck driver was not speeding...the idiot truck driver that parked illegally that prevented the boy from being able to see the dump truck coming and didn't offer to help direct him out as he sat in his truck looking at the boy is the one at fault and I hope his conscious keeps him awake everynight since that accident.

And Stanley has had that area next to the road marked for years for no parking but he can't do anything about the people that don't abide by the laws/rules. Perhaps the next time you see a truck parked like that, remind them of this boy's tragic death instead of trying to blame it on the property owner!

I seriously doubt that their minds are on what is or isn't being posted on Topix. Not everyone in the county even knows about this site nor has computers to access it at home. I came across this thread and responded to inaccuracies. It was a horrific accident and my heart goes out to this young man's family but I also hope that others will learn from this accident and think twice before parking in such a manner that impedes another driver's vision of the road while leaving the store. This could have happened to anyone at anytime and could happen again unless people become aware of the problem. I was by the store just this week and saw another transfer truck parked in exactly the same manner! Awareness of the circumstances can be beneficial!
