Yeah right. The company was going bankrupt over a year ago or do you read the news. They just use that as an excuse but if you did any research into it you would know the labor union had tried to work with the company for several years even buying stock to help them stay in business. I am glad you are a millionaire business owner, I mean you must not be a worker or you wouldn't support a company paying chinese wages.

You think being non union will draw companies to the area. What happened to the 25,000 non union furniture jobs lmao. How did that work out for you? The only difference between here and hostess is they kept their jobs longer and made twice the pay and better benefits so put that in your non union chinese made pipe and smoke it.

Well the union didnt help that much. Which is better a little pay or no pay at all? Now there are 18,500 people with no income and their pride to be in a union. Don't bite the hand that feeds you!!

As I will be glad to point out again. Look around you at the empty non union furniture factories and they were gone before Hostess bailed out so I would say the union guys lasted longer with better pay.

There shouldn't be a mind set that some pay is better than none. These companies can in most cases afford to pay a decent salary. No one is asking to get rich but starvation wages like were paid around here shouldn't be accepted. Just barley enough to make it pay check to pay check and its enough to make sure you can never miss a day or argue working conditions.

These large companies have been more than happy to exploit workers in the past and don't think for a second they don't today.

yea some companys are greedy but you know I would rather work at a job making a little bit of money than nothing at all. The furniture factories let us down moving overseas. Our goverment should make them pay high taxes just to bring that china garbage in. I made good money in a factory and I worked hard. But I would do it again if they were still here. The younger generation thinks they are above hard work so maybe thats why the factories left us. Nobody seems to want to haver a manual job anymore.

Your point is what? They went overseas but what does that have to do with unions? Hostess didnt go under because of unions, they went under because its cheaper to sell out and close up shop putting people out of work. I have lots of friends that work in unions and they wouldn't work without one unless they had to. Dues are cheap so I dont know what kind of BS he is telling you especially when you consider all the insurance, extra life insurance and retirement pensions you get. Most unions offer free training and education opportunities not to mention if your employer screws you over they are right there on it.

A lot of companies are greedy and would take advantage of the employees like the furniture companies did. I agree they should be made to pay high tariffs to import from overseas. I worked in furniture and made some decent money but I was in a specialty niche, I would have made twice that as a union worker and they could have easily afforded it. I saw many more (the majority) barley scrap by week to week.

I also remember how they would make us work 21 hours a week, just enough so we couldn't sign up and how I counted pennies to make it till pay day. That was some straight bullsh*t just so they could live in wealth and keep from paying a dime in unemployment. If that had been a union company, that wouldn't have happened.

I agree some of what you say about the younger kids but that is a really general statement. I know many that will bust it just as hard as anyone and they have pride in their jobs and their unions. They just have learned they dont have to take the crap that generations in the past did. We believe in fighting for the American worker and the American way of life. We are not like our Chinese counterparts that have no voice, we will not allow us to ever become that as long as we have a fight left in us.

OV,

If you would have went out in the warehouse you would have seen furniture stacked 25 or 30 ft high in every warehouse they had all over the states. They the corporations did that while paying more per month in light bills, insurance, new mandates from the EPA, training for employees, workers comp, well I could go on and on about expenses, but silly bastards like you would never ever get it through your thick skull business aint easy and it can't always be nice.

By the way in 10 -15 years, you and all the other obama voters are gonna be bitching about freedom...still making a subsistence living. I hope some mongoloid goofy looking Chi Com supervisor takes better care of you than industry and freedom has, because you have abused both. Freedom and the free market, the democrats are responsible for NAFTA.
