The accident that happened this morning at the intersection of Connelly Springs Rd and Cajah's Mountain Rd is the second bad accident in 3 weeks. The accident this morning took the life of a local women. She had just passed through the light and a pick up truck owned by Caldwell County clipped the back of her SUV after the driver attempted to turn onto Cajah's Mountain Rd. before the light turned red. Neither person in the truck sustained bad injuries. The SUV flipped twice before coming to rest on it's top in the parking lot of the old North Catawba Fire Dept. The lady in the SUV was transported to Valdese General Hospital and then airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center. She passed away during surgery. Please keep her family in your prayers. She leaves behind two children,a son in his twenties and a daughter set to enter her first year of High School this Monday.I hope that there are charges brought against the driver of the truck. This was an accident that did not have to happen.

I agree with you Elsie and my prayers are also with Robin's Family. Let's also remember Brittany Chester's Family and the young man driving the car,his little brother and the man/ woman driving the car that clipped the back of Robin's car. There're so many people hurting and all we can do for them is lift them up to GOD'''

It's time something needs to be done regarding Cajah's Mtn. Road and Connelly Springs Road intersection. My husband was almost in the same kind of wreck as Robin Davis was in. He was turning right on Cajah's Mtn. Road and 2 boys were turning left on that same road, low and behold the boys almost side swiped him because THEY wanted to turn onto that road before my husband did. Thank heavens they both got stopped before another accident would have happened. As many of you know, at least a third of Caldwell Co. passes cars on the old North Catawba Fire dept. parking lot. I was almost hit because as the light turned green and I headed south down the mountain, mr. speed demon was trying to pass around me as he came down through the parking lot and he almost ran into me and the hill. I believe barriers need to be placed in front of the old FD building so no one can pass. It's also dangerous heading north because you don't know who is going to pull left in front of you. I occasionally see cops sitting there. If they want some quick cash writing tickets that would truly be the best place to earn a living.

I agree that something needs to be done at that intersection. I live in Baton and have to travel through there every day. I have almost been hit several times by people trying to beat the light and turn up Cajah's Mtn.Road.It's only been a few weeks ago that another head on accident happened there. This one was involving a truck and a car. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt in that wreck.Robin's accident should never have happened. If the lady driving the other vehicle had not been in such a hurry to beat the red light a family would still have their daughter, sister, and most importantly, their mother. I have heard the lady in the Jeep is having a hard time dealing with the accident and Robin's death. My prayers are with her,but I think that some type of charges should be brought against her.I am sure she never intended for the accident to happen. But being late for an appointment is no excuse for her actions.

The Connelly Springs Rd. is the most traveled secondary road in the county. It was suppose to be a 4 lane several yrs. ago but they keep bumping it back. As most of you know that when it snows it becomes a very dangerous road.

She broke her neck due to not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. I went and looked it up. If she had the belt on she would be with us today.Nothing to do with the intersection

I know her old boyfriend is trying to coax her daughter to move in with him. He is a loser trying to cover up something or start something. The Mike Lackey syndrome all over again.

How do you "know "this and what old boyfriend are you referring to? Taylor is living with Robin's brother and his wife. They have a daughter close to Taylor's age. Please be kind and don't start rumors or spread gossip. This child has been through so much the last two weeks. The whole family has. And for the record, we don't know if Robin did or didn't have her seat belt on. It was not like her to NOT have it on.There is a possiblity that it could have come unlocked during the flipping of the SUV. That is something we will never know. The point is,we have lost a wonderful friend and neighbor and a family has lost a loved one.

Her neck was not broken. She sustained a broken leg, head injuries and internal injuries. Her death was a result of internal bleeding in the lungs that the doctors could not get stopped.

Don't you wish that these people would get the facts straight before they post this stuff? I guess some people just like to spread rumors and gossip.

I agree!! They don't stop to think about the love ones left behind. I think there are people who thrive off others tragedies.

Not possible. Seatbelt wouldn't come lose if it did lawyers would be beating down the door. Don't care who lives with who or says what. Injuries like that are prevented by seatbelts and no the guy who said if he had it on he would be dead is about 1 in 2 million. National Traffic Institue look it up.

Often, seat belts cause more injury than they prevent. Do a google search on "Seat Belt Syndrome". You may be surprised at what you find.

I hate to even post this because it is veering off the whole point of the original post but "seat belt syndrome" is not necessarily common. It refers more towards injuries caused by seatbelts falling in the wrong place when they are improperly fitted (like with a child or a very large or very small adult that cannot place the bands where they should be). Even when someone is wearing a seatbelt, an accident can be severe enough that it doesn't help. Everyone can site that odd case where a seatbelt caused injuries, but more often than not, it will keep you from more serious injuries.
