All you need to do is call Ben Griffin or call his office. He is funding three of them. They check in everyday for their orders. He's attempting to buy this election. To answer your question I know at least 7 of them have facebook accounts.

This the link to one of the facebook pages. Feel free to ask your question.

I see as that there are those who make assumptions without asking, and we all know what happens when you assume.

It is evident that there are those here who have no idea what they are saying.

Starter, there are obviously idiots on here that have their own personal agenda and no real desire to try and research those running for office and make an informed and educated decision on who to vote for. I am as clueless as you are as to who to vote for. I would also like to have a place to be able to find out what their positions are. Let me know if you find one! Thanks and have a great day!

Could someone elaborate on which candidates are being supported/endorsed by Ben Griffin? That's a good place to start by eliminating those with no chance for my vote, or my family or friends' votes.

I understand that Barlowe is strongly endorsed by Griffin for Commissioner. That's another one to avoid voting for.

Just my opinion though. Everyone should do their own research and make informed votes. The worst thing you can do is vote a straight party ticket, for either party.

You must be blind to the fact that Ben is bank rolling their campaigns. He designed the signs, hats, and passes out their trash at football games. Everyone knows about their private meetings at Ben's office. Look where all their signs are on his property. I agree please research, but we don't need anymore puppets.

Really Now,

Full of assumptions you know nothing about. When have you contacted any of the candidates you are talking of?

I for one plan to vote for change on the school board. I want responsible people who know that they are where the buck stops.

If you want the status quo vote for the incumbents. If you want people who have a different approach to being accountable then fill the board with new blood.

This is what elections are for.

It is obvious and not denied that there are 3 candidates backed and funded by Griffin. There are enough running to vote for to get change without the change being Griffin getting his hands on the school board. Griffin does not belive in the mission of the public schools so why change to have anti public education people in charge. We sre going backwards in this county fast enough as it is.

Ben is a conservative so it makes sense that he would try to help get other conservatives elected. That does not tarnish the people he supports. If anything it helps them in my book. I want people in office who will look out for the tax payers and make decisions based on actual needs and not on building legacies or appease a certain group of elites. That is what Ben has done so far and made a few enemies along the way.

I always considered myslef a conservative. Ben is out for himself and the builders and uses a conservative label. Not many years ago Ben could not have been elected keeper of the dump because of unethical dealings. Now this county has forgotten his reputation and sold its soul for "low taxes"
I am amazed how many folks take up for the egomaniacs like Ben and Trump on a national level. Don't be fooled-it is all about power and himself.
There are reasonable, conservative candidates on the board with proven characters that we do not have to vote for either incompetents or those who march to Ben's orders.

At first I lol'd at this post, then I threw up in my mouth a bit, since Con here seems sincere.

Go back to the commissioner's meetings last February and March if you think he doesn't make decisions based on pleasing a certain group of elites. Those elites include himself, of course, and his developing/house building buddies and minions.

Sorry, I find myself wanting to laugh again.

I have had a few dealings with him and I have never experienced him being unethical in any way. What did he do at the February and March meetings that you object to?

Ben and the rest of the current board of commissioners seem much more conservative than the last board. They have not borrowed a lot of money and had to raise taxes to pay for it.

I keep hearing that he has done things to help himself while a commissioner but I have only heard accusations, no specifics or proof of any kind.

They totally destroyed the planning/zoning/solid waste department, cutting eight of nine positions. They then cut two manned environmental health positions (and one open) from a staff of six due to "overstaffing", when the Caldwell County staffing level was three positions LOWER than that of Wilkes County, and four less than Burke at the time. IF you want the longer version, please see my post on the other active thread concerning BG and dealer tags. I know nothing about the dealer tags, but the conversation takes a slight turn on down the page.

You can also watch both meetings from where they are offered on the county website.

The question that begs to be asked is this: What benefit would a couple of landowner/developer/builder commissioners gain from destroying one department that regulated their building/developing activities, and effectively hamstringing another that would not allow them build on lots unsuitable for sustaining an operational septic system?

Another point of interest is the fact that both environmental health employees had recently worked on lot projects for these guys, but those projects had not gone in the Big Two's favor. If you watch Bollinger on the tapes of those two meetings you can easily see that something personal is there.

I am NOT voting for Becker or Barlowe, if they cant manage their own bills I sure dont want them managing anything that deals with me as a taxpayer.

The cuts to environmental health and planning took place over a year ago. What ill effects have we suffered? Sounds like they cut some fat out of the budget. From what I have heard the planning department was a joke anyway. Just look around and you will see that there has never been any real planning in this county. We have single wides mixed in all around houses, 321 has lots of gravel drive ways that connect to it. With the local economy suffering the way it has I doubt Griffin or Bollinger have had a chance to benefit from any of those cuts. No one is building new houses right now anyway.

Keep all accountability in mind when you vote.

State of NC forecasts a $3.3Billion defict for 2011.

Do you want a this school board managing our school finances during these times? I DON'T.

I am voting for new blood on the school board all the way around. I want those who have been proven to be able to manage big projects and financial matters.

I think Sharrard, Wilson and Woodie can do that.
As a business man, retired defense worker/teacher and accountant for our local utility I think they have the muster to guide us MUCH BETTER than the ones we have.
