Its called RECALL. If you can get enough signatures, you can intiate a vote to have him removed from office. There was talk of a recall back when Bill Stone got in office several years ago.

I think you have to get the legislature to pass a bill allowing for the election to occur to decide if a candidate can be removed or not.

Here is a link to the Bill passed in 2007 to have elected officials in the town of Pleasant Garden recalled or removed from office.

my question is this. Why is it ok for the old commissionn to screw us by upping ou taxes and nobody was screaming to get them out but it's a whole different story when the wealthier are getting screwed?

well honestly, It is hard to say, but I think what Ben is doing by going after the 1 department that he delt with as a citizen makes it look fishy....the tax increase affected us all, firing the Planning Staff doesn't affect me (i live in Hudson) but it "Looks" like he is trying to make his and Clay's pockets deeper....I think everyone was divided certian issues...but when it comes to corruption NOBODY here will stand for it.

They are firing the COUNTY inspectors not city.
What's the difference in party labels? Don Barrier the Democrat voted lockstep with the old crowd.
So much for Party affiliation once they are elected.
Why is everyone so shocked over BG's decision?
We all knew his motives long before he was elected.

The recall fantasy is a pipe dream, We have Ben and Co. around our necks for 4 more years, this is horrible, the only answer is to move away from this horrible county. I may come back when he is gone, but he has the whip and he is going to crack it on our backs until he gets it ALL! Maybe its time to give up.

I am hard pressed to see where the wealthy are getting screwed. I see MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE working 40 hours a week for a paycheck and are having their jobs removed or their hourly pay reduced for NO GOOD REASON.

These Planning Commission people's salary and the money taken from the wages of County Employees will never make up for the taxes imposed on Caldwell County.

This is nothing more than ben's vengence.

God help us if gets his way. Nothing or no one will be safe from his misguided desires.

The creation of a Caldwell County Watchdog Group would put pressure on the politicians around here.

We need a group of people to investigate and question what the City and County Official are doing.

The reality is we are stuck with the commissioners. If it makes you feel better to talk about recall, I say go for it. The truth is there will not be a successful recall. Everyone here knew or should have known beforehand what these three would do. Caldwell voted for them. Now Caldwell must pay and pay hard.

I said wealthier meaning they are wealtier than the people that got screwed by the first commission. No they are not the weatlhy but they are the ones that could deal with a tax increase when the out of work homeowners could not and no exception was made for the unemployed in a time where the tax increase was ridiculous.

wealthier, huh?! Honey, you have NO IDEA what County Employees make. You're going off your own "un-educated" opinion. So, allow me to educate you (ahem) NOT ALL COUNTY EMPLOYEES MAKE THE BIG BUCKS!! you guys just assume that the title "county employee" means that county employees make all this money, and we own all this fancy stuff.. get your head out of your butt, and recognize!!! WE'RE NOT ALL RICH, AND THIS CUTBACK WILL DEVASTATE FAMILIES! geez...

you are wealthier than the laid of employees that had to pay higher taxes. I know not all are rich but I didn't say rich I said wealthier that means better off than most. That is why I said it should be looked at on a case by case basis. I'm sure if you made it on what you made before the raise you can make it again. At least you have a job. It's not like making a third of what you made working. Which is what most laid of employees get. You can not justify a 29% pay increase for one person while another gets less than 1%.

Meeracheculz, give me a break with the "holier than thou", attitude about an employee wasting tax payer $$$ being on the internet. Do you know their schedule? Do you know whether they are even at work today? Maybe it's a family member married to a county employee. Nothing you can say will defend the actions of the misguided, ill-prepared, self-serving commissioners. Quit acting like you are better than anybody else.

I think the point she was trying to make is that nobody seemed so upset when the furniture workers were losing jobs but still had the worry of the tax increase. Nobody made a fuss about trying to impeach the commissioners then, why should such a fuss be made now?

Let me remind you: I have 3 family members who are county employees who are affected by all of this too! I'm not agreeing with their decisions, it's just interesting that some seem to think the jobs of these county employees and the effect of their unemployment is more significant than all of the furniture workers who lost their job.

I understand that point.. HOWEVER the thing is, we are not fussing about not mkaing "more" money.. Most of the county employees are fine with not getting future raises.. but our gripe is simply this.. taking away whats already been given. We are very sympathetic to the ones that werer laid off, and we HATE that it happened, but there is NO reason to make others suffer to "help the taxpayers" when we, as couty employees pay THE SAME taxes as every single one of you guys! so, if you WANT to look at it that way, technically, we, as county employees are paying our own salary.. so, REALLY where is this money from the cutback going? Your pocket? NOPE my POCKET?! DEFINITELY NOT.. ole' BENNY BOY!!!(cha-ching!!) hmmmmmm makes you think, huh?

yea, well... just for your INFORMATION it's called "BREAKS" ever hear of those?!? OH!! thats right.... according to you guys, THATS ALL WE DO, and we don't DESERVE to have this job... geez... I hope that one day soon, you will finally realize that the label you put on County Employees is not at ALL what you conceive it to be... you may hate us, but regardless, if you ever need anything, you CAN come to us, because we WILL help you... I can PROMISE you that.. some of us here are MORE THAN WILLING to help people in need.. and honestly, it really sucks that people like you think that we "deserve" good luck in all you do, but I cannot continue this conversation with such an opinionated, narrow-minded person.. Just know that our doors are open when you need us

Nope don't hate you. But there are those that should not be there. Just like there are drs and nurses and teachers and others that should not be doing the job they do. As for the county employees weed out the the ones that just take up space and reward those that actually work.
