http://www.beckywatkins.com/2012/07/security-... No you cannot be on the county commission if you are on either one of the county's school boards Rosemary. You cannot vote to give yourself money to spend.

Why not? Bobby Johnson Senior does it. He serves the City of Lenoir City as a Councilman, School Board member, and Lenoir City Utilities Board of Directors. He holds every elected office with the City of Lenoir City with the exception of the Mayor and City Recorder. Why can't Rosemary do it if Bobby can? At least she is running for a county office instead of another city office like Bobby Johnson Senior has done.

I believe Councilman Simpson holds the record for the number of offices held within the City and County with compensation totaling well over a hundred thousand a year plus various other benefits provided by the city government, the county government, and LCUB. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You can take all the said members mentioned here and put them in a bag and shake real good and open the bag and they will all come out SMELLING the same..ha..Needless to say you can figure out what smell I'm talking about..go figure..I agree with Becky if it was them needing the funding they could find it and approve it quickly. They are kicking the can on the security of the students and they potentially will be the ones to fall thru the cracks. I wonder who they will point the finger at if..God forbids..if a student or students are put in harms way? Thanks Becky for putting it out there like you did, and the voters take note. Hopefully the voters will do the right thing and get it right. I hope the voters don't forget how some of the board members have dropped the ball miserably on some previous issues. I was wondering too, SOME of these board members have been on these boards for a while and/or one of their family members before them, do you think by now they have got all their family members a job at the utilities or city by now?..Pretty soon hopefully they will run out of family members to hire.

I heard that Van Shaver hand picked Rosemary Hines Quillen and his stooge son endorsed her before he resigned as commissioner. If there are any voters in his district, vote Van out of office, PLEASE.

Do you think the Lenoir City Schools are city funded, just because of their name? WRONG!

County Commission funds both of those school systems. What they earmark for education, two-thirds goes to the Loudon County Schools. The rest goes to Lenoir City Schools.

If Rosemary can serve on both school board and commission, what's to stop Scott Newman, Van Shaver, or Leroy Tate from doing the same thing?

And they will. They'll claim if she can, we can.
They'll also get fearful that she wants to change the funding equation. If Lenoir City Schools get more than one-third of those funds, that is less money for the county schools. They'll want on commission too so they can protect their own interest.

I'm not against Rosemary. If she'll promise to resign the school board if she wins, I'll probably vote for her. But if she won't agree to that I'll probably never vote for her again for anything.

Since she already has one paid board seat maybe she can afford to help Councilwoman Scarborough convince the rest of the commissioners to give back half their salary to help pay for SROs in County Schools. Who pays for SROs in the Lenoir City schools.

Whats wrong with this picture -- just about everyone in local government is related or connected and half of the voters think that its ok and the other half don't give a dam?

The City funds the SRO's for the Lenoir City Schools. They provide all benefits, cars, equipment, whatever...they used to have grants but they ran out. I know this to be true because I called their office and asked one of the workers.

Tomorrow, Thursday August 2nd is the day the voters in Lenoircitygov City will decide if they want to turn over their tight to vote for the City Chief Financial Officer (City Treasurer).
We have had a young local resident who has a qualified through the Election Commission to run for the office in November election.
If you vote the way you have been encouraged to vote (through ads from the LC Committee of 100 and the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce), you will be giving up a very important right to vote that we may never be able to get back.

Why the big interest in who gets the job as city treasurer by Chamber and Comm. of 100?

Ron Jordan's wife wants him to run for county mayor. He's scratching the backs of the good-ole-boys so they'll owe him favors.

That's the way the game is played.
Religion OR Politics.(I would think it difficult to have one foot firmly planted in both.)
On the other hand, I respect and admire Mike Huckabee and the way he has been able to keep his integrity as a Christian and run for President. I guess it can be done. Not many men with Huckabee's integrity around any more, though.
(No offense to Mr. Jordan...just sayin.)

Here it is, if there was any doubt:

Read the last sentence in the article. If elected to commission, Quillen has no intention of resigning from the school board.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

X school board member Van Shaver announced that sonny
boy was going to resign. His resignation dragged out until mid-July so the 2nd district commission seat couldn't go to the ballot for the August 2nd election. Then Van and Austin throw their full support behind fellow crony Rosemary Hines Quillen like in Lenoir City Councilman Buddy "Wimpy" Hines.

Nepotism just loves more nepotism... Shaver & Shaver & Hines Quillen & Hines.

Good that the voters got tired of Van Shaver's endless game playing.

Politicos don't like the websites because the people are no longer just sitting back believing everything they read in the local newspaper.
The mayor wants to EDUCATE US to vote the way we are told to vote.(There was a lot of money spent to put a quarter page ads in all the newspapers for the last several weeks and to send a 5"X8" glossy through the mail.(The ballot was printed out and even marked for you with BIG RED CHECKMARKS!)
If the mayor was really wanting the best person for the job, he would be more open minded and EDUCATE HIMSELF about the man who has come forward to exercise his right to seek the position as Recorder/Treasurer.
It appears that Ms. Hunt is their "candidate of choice."
Does anyone else wonder why they seem so against the possibility that an educated, qualified, competent person from outside their circle might be elected by the people to serve as the Chief Financial Officer of the City.

Maggie will kiss their behinds That's why they have her running.
Yeah I saw where our High School dropout Mayor said we the voters need to become better educated. Too funny.

Can anyone with a any common sense understand the reasoning behind a Mayor and Council not rallying behind a bright young man with the education and experience we need in the City treasurer position? I have met Mr. Brown and his wife. First impression tells me we would be fortunate to have him.
Come on Council. Stop playing politics and do what is right for the City.

Yes.
They are a bunch of control freaks, and this office they will not control if he is elected.
If he wins, expect major harrassment.
If they get him to resign, watch them say "See, it doesn't work" and then put this back on the ballot.

Understand a simple libertarian truth: People drawn to politics tend to be people who crave power over other people. It is not our best interest that motivates them.
