I want to know who can really do that job. I don't mean which candidate has the most frienda on Facebook either.

You wouldn't vote for somebody to be sheriff who wasn't an experienced0 LEO.
You wouldn't vote for someone to be GS judge who never practiced law.
It seems like for property assessor you want someone who had plenty of years assessing the value of homes. That means somebody who maybe was a real estate agent who sold them for years and who can look at properties and correctly assess what they are worth.

But this is a strange place. A lot of people think being a city bureaucrat for years qualifies you for any county office. Like if you've been a court clerk and collected lots of fines from speeders then you must know all about property deeds and can be Register of Deeds.

And now a woman who issues citations for not cutting your grass or having trash all over your property, and who does building code inspections and makes sure the wiring is safe says she can appraise the value of property. The job she has is important but how does that qualify you for this?

Who can do this job that didn't learn from Doyle Arp how to kiss developers' arses?

I say if you really are looking for a job done right then put a woman in office. They are much more honest and will work circles around most men. Yes I am a man, I'm just telling it like it is. Everyone that agrees with me type in "Hell Yes"

My vote is for Larry Brown who is intelligent, has work experience, etc etc etc. Oh an by the way. He will be honest but fair. True to his word. We will never have to worry about Larry Brown.

I'm glad to read that he is honest.
So has he done work that involved appraising the market value of property? Or will it be on the job training?

Here is his site. See what you think about him. I think he would be right for the job and not fall into a hole like the other one did. I am not talking about the previous Tax Assessor. Chuck did a good job and he learned very fast. I know that Larry Brown with his experience with KUB and others would be a good manager of this office. And nobody would push him to give better assessments to the rich or good ol' boys. I like this man for me but everyone has a choice. Here ya go!

Thanks! I think that he has my vote. Very impressive record. Not like Johnson who stated that she was just 'following the money' when she was 'given' the job she has now. Bless her heart she can't understand the codes for LC. She took puppies away from a family and then had to give them back. Sad that.

seems all you people want to do is bash someone who is willing to step into the public eye and be a leader for the county....not sure what web site you are looking at but Johnson has a Master's Degree..cant be that stupid now can she? at least she is not family with half of Lenoir City or she would be working at LCUB. she also has many years of public experience managing departments with public money...you dont hear that she is paying for campaign material with public dollars or mismanagement of her office..Larry Brown worked for KUB...so what does that have to do with being a manager for a public office....figure the ones who just want to bash dont do thier homework and will vote for who ever they are told to...but then that is Loudon County, right? The job is about representing a county office as a professional....looks like the woman is the only one who know how to do that now and do it well

SO what if she has a masters degree, that just means she's over-quialified. I for one wouldn't trust anyone that works under the same roof as you know who and who's picture did we see on that same billboard at the pilot? Ya, I'm guessing there are some campaign donations that helped with that one. I don't know any of them but I'm going with the one that hasn't held public office. At least they might be fair for the first term at least. No one will be able to fill chucks shoes.

I did not bash Ms. Johnson..i just gave everyone the Larry Brown's site and said they could make their own decison. That is the American way. Vote your way and I will vote mine. Larry is a life time Loudon Countian and I like his philsophy. So vote for Leslie. That is ok with me. Ease up!

Beside the bashing by people who want this to be a typical Topix board I did find some of the information I asked for in post number one. Here is the site of the man that the commission chose
http://votemikecampbell.com/mike/...
"My career has been in the independent fee appraisal service and real estate brokerage over the last 20 years"
Does anyone have more info like this to offer on the candidates?

What difference does it make on where a leased billboard is located & what difference does it make on who leased it??? I am sure campaign donations possibly paid for it-that's called politics, Dipwad. Lamar advertising is happy to take anyone's money for their ad business (look at the top of the billboard-LAMAR owns & rents it- & no I'm not related to them or work for them-or the city or Ms. Johnson or Mr. Aikens. People amaze me who just have to complain & guess about facts but freely say what they don't know.
just another opinion

better check into your titles on people...just because someone use to sell real estate - probably would still be selling for a high commission if the housing market was better, and just cause you have a license to appraise property - check that one too, campbell is limited to houses only with a maxminum value of 250K.... titles and licenses are not everything.

show me who is the best person for the job in question and i will vote for them. they all three are smart (i guess) and the state will train them on my dime anyway! so I want someone who is not just looking for a steady check or a way to escape retirement boredom.

Johnson may not be liked by everyone but she is the only one who is working for the public now and what the pay for the job as assessor is not much more than what she makes now! go figure?, her intentions must not be too bad.

i would just stay on that gravy train in LC if it were me! Johnson, if you read this, let them two fight for it, you have it made now!! if you win, can i have your job? oh, bet that one is already sold. we will see

You are right on that one Shug. Billboards all over this city and county have the name LAMAR on them.
Being on the same billboard Aikens was on does not mean he is behind her campaign. It just means her campaign is paying some money to this company since they don't do that for free.

I don't see anything mean or off-topic but I do agree that it is funny. What is 'mean' about a website domain? I didn't create the domain, she's the one that chose to use it. uh-oo looks like someone is oversensitive. Please weigh in on the meanness level on a scale of 1-10, as if anyone really cares.
