Mr. Henline says that we have enough of those (meaning poor) people in the City as it is.

I think he's trying to say that Lenoir city is a big enough dump already...and I would tend to agree

Who stands to make money from this project. It is never about helping poor people. It is about politics.

"I just don't see how we can afford any more of that type of citizens" says Mike Henline. He wants only people moving here who are "an asset to the community, not a burden to the community."

Then along comes Van Shaver with this article defending Henline:
http://www.vanshaver.com/facts_are_facts.htm

I understand both Shaver and Henline claim to be God-fearing regular church attendees. What happens if one of these not-so-rich people visits, then asks to join, their church.

Do Henline or Shaver question whether or not the church can "afford any more of those type" of members? If they can't buy high-value property and contribute heavily in property taxes to the city, they won't do much for the church.

As Van says, facts are facts. There are only so many seats in the pews. Isn't it more cost-effective to have somebody more financially endowed occupying that seat?

The best question is why voters elect such arrogant jackasses to any offices.

There are kids in high school that could do better. All it takes is an honest code of ethics and intelligence to do better than what you have now. When you say, "next one you vote for could be worse" isn't showing a lot of respect for your family member.
Chip off the old block I'd say, if you enjoy seeing people humiliated by their government. Surprised they haven't recruited you to join them, or maybe they have.

No not hard at all. Maybe you don't have family that takes up for you and i can see why. Such an embarassment to them. Imagine that lol. Aside what you think he is a great family man. You could learn something about that.

So now you say my family doesn't love me, and Bob has an elementary school education. Hurling insults because you know your position is untenable doesn't win a debate.
I'd bet Bob, with his elementary school education,
could spell "embarrassment".
Go lick your wounds.

My friend, you have made it clear that you only defend Mike Henline's behavior because he is your relative. That's the only reason anyone would do it - unless you are Van Shaver. Is Van a relative also?
You are in the untenable position of defending the guy who says the town population needs to fend off more human riff-raff. Stop babbling, and just think about it.
I say the opposite, and will let your cuz read the savior's words borrowed by me here:
WHOSOEVER WILL may come here. Don't bother asking Mike Henline's permission. You don't need it. If an unrefined citizenry bothers Henline, then he can move out.
I see 'For Rent' signs all around the avenues. WHOSOEVER WILL may move here.

What we need is more trailer parks for people to live. I say line 321 with trailers down that new road at Town Creek. Just think affordable housing and a boost for manufactured housing. The mexicans who bulid them can live in them. You know like Wampler did out on Hwy 70.
