The story in the Newless Harold is all bout replacing the Loudon County Rescue Squad with Rural Metro, just ask Mike Collins. The Newless just backs big money advertisers.

There's been alot of talk about Mike Collins ...

Our property taxes will go up just to take care of Mike Collins and the other rich fat cats lake dwellers. Collins can go back to Knoxville and pay higher taxes up there.

I went to the link http://www.loudon.xtn.net/story/4088 "… said Rural/Metro Division General Manager Mike Collins.” Who’s this Mike Collins? Is it true that he wants rid of the Loudon County Fire Rescue Squad so he can run the fire district? I smell a big fire tax.

I didn't read that in the Newless article so you must have some inside info that the rest of us don't.

Usually cities and counties buy equipment through matching grants but I don't know if that happened here.

So Mike Collins wants to get rid of the Loudon County Rescue Squad and he seems to want Rural Metro and a fire tax.

Is Mike Collins the same VIP with Rural Metro, does anyone know?

I guess Commissioner tax and spend Sharon Yarbrough is ok with that idea. Sounds about right, she also voted for the 20 cent tax hike.

We would be a lot better off if Rural Metro just came and took all the areas in the county that dont have a paid department. Loudon County, Greenback, Philadelphia, and Tellico Village all need to just turn it over to metro. Heiskell Fire did that in Knox county and have a lot better odds of having there house saved than we do in Loudon County with volunteer departments.

What are your chances if you have a fire and you live inside Lenoir City or Loudon City with a good supply of water and firestations; not too good!

Rural Metro tried to take over the county and commission stopped them in their tracks. I hope commission stops them again, just look at what happened with the ambulance service, rip off charges.

I read the article and looked at some old articles, I think that this Collins man is singling out the Loudon County Fire Rescue and no one else such like Tellico Village or Philadelphia with all the bad news they got or even Greenback.

I'm wondering about Mike Collins connections with Rural Metro. I don't favor a new tax just to put Rural Metro in business. I smell a rat!

No inside info. I was sure I read that Loudon co had donated a fire engine to NY. I usually get it right with the news. Today I can't find the article for what ever reason. I must be slipping, I ruin the news a lot but I don't usually get it wrong. O well, things change, I'll just have to live with it.

I found my reference "Loudon co Paramedic Accepts Star of Life Award" on Topix this page, under Lenoir City News. Paragraph # 7 , It was news in 2002 so its History now. Fire truck was gift from East Tn & not only LC. Mt bad, I was hoping when I shut down it would be all at once & not in dribbles.

Rural Metro almost lost it's franchise in East TN a couple of years ago when American Medical Response, owned by the garbage disposal co. Laidlaw, almost took over. It wasn't until Knox Co. Com. was notified about Laidlaw's organized crime connections, that Rural Metro was able to survive. If Rural Metro is involved in anything not quite kosher, I am sure that someone will blow the whistle on them just like they did AMC. So anyone who has actual knowledge of unsavory activity by this Collins person, now is the time to speak up.
