Now that the powers that be have done away with the girls basketball coach, what is to be done with the baseball coach? There are many rumors floating around that he may be on the way out. If true is is forced or voluntary?

If he is on his way out, it would be an answered prayer. It is time for the boys in LC to enjoy playing baseball, instead of being 'beaten down by a TYRANT who demands his way or no way'- regardless of whether or not it is for the good of the team/players. Why not try out Wilhite(one of the new football coaches)?? He has prior experience coaching baseball - coached @ William Blount. I cannot understand why nothing can be done about a coach who has been complained about for YEARS. When this years graduating class were freshmen there were approx. 14 who played baseball. By their senoir year, the baeball coach had succeeded in 'running off' all but four of those players. Mention his name around any parent of a child who has had anything to do with the baseball program @ LCHS and check their response. IT IS PAST TIME FOR A CHANGE--IT IS TIME TO STAND UP FOR OUR CHILDREN...NOW!

The following were posted on knoxnews.com at the end of the article about the new girls' basketball coach @ LCHS. How true they both are....

Janet McGhee has had some tough choices since she took over and is making them for the betterment of the teams and school. Now if she could do something about the no personality horse's hind end that coaches the baseball team, that would be another step forward instead of the "good ole boy" keep it in the family system.

I like the last paragraph of Anne123. The football, girls basketball, and baseball program are all connected by family. It's really time for a coaching change in baseball as well. This year, they did not win a single district game. They will get no better. Mr. McNish has had almost 10 years to move the program forward and it has not happened. There are certainly improvements to the facilities, but that doesn't make the team play better. His inability to motivate and encourage the players hampers his ability to win games. It would help if he would learn to communicate with the parents instead of locking himself inside his facility.

I am not connected to baseball other than knowing families whose sons play. I have heard how mentally demeaning this coach has been and continues to be. My suggestion is to talk to Ms. Gee. If there are several parents with the same complaint then she has the obligation to help you and do what is best for the student athletes.

LOOK...ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT THE PAST 10 YEARS OF LCHS BASEBALL KNOWS THAT MR MCNISH CANT COACH. HE DOESNT KNOW THE GAME NOR CAN HE TEACH THE GAME. HE IS A BASEBALL IDIOT, ONE WHO CLAIMS TO KNOW BUT IN REALITY DOESNT HAVE A CLUE. THERE ISNT A PARENT THAT HAS BEEN INVOLVED OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS THAT HASNT COMPLAINED OR WENT TO THE A.D ABOUT HIM, AND SOME TO THE SUPERINTENDENT, TO NO AVAIL. WHAT DOES THIS GUY HAVE ON SOMEBODY. IF ANYONE IN THE REAL WORLD HAD AS MANY COMPLAINTS AS MS. MGHEE CLAIMS TO HAVE ON MR MCNISH, THEN THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED LONG BEFORE NOW...WAKE UP FOLKS..ITS TIME TO BOOT BUZZ AND GET A COACH WHO CAN COACH THE GAME, TEACH THE GAME AND MOST OF ALL BE RESPECTED BY HIS PLAYERS...SOMETHING MR MCNISH FAILS MISERABLY AT

Gosh....let me think about that for a sec.....that sounds like some kind of sour grapes...First, let me just say, i have one currently playing and one that played for him 3 years ago. I cant say that i completely agree with everything he does on the field, but who will. As far as my kids are concerned, neither had ANY problem with Coach McNish. ON the field or OFF. He had done good things for kids he has coached, both current players as well as former ones. All I know for sure is, from being around this program for a very long time, it doesnt matter who you get to coach here. With the resources available and the talent abailable, any coach is going to struggle in this district. There just isnt any way around it.
......If you want a good gauge of the kind of coach he is, you ought to come to a few summer games. Different baseball, different mentality. The kids just plain have fun in the summer. NO stress......NO pressure...just playing ball.

i am aware of Mcnish's personality flaws, like one of the people above noted you cant say anything about the baseball team without someone saying how awful mcnish is, why not give the team to Coach Brown, he takes the young kids in the summer and teaches them the fundamentals and actually shows the kids respect, he has played at the college level and also helps Mcnish during the season so he is familiar to the school and the players???

Coach Brown is a great guy and enjoys teaching kids the game. He is now the Asst Coach on the Varsity. Coach Collins has the JV and Coach Freeman has the "D" league kids as they call them. Coach Brown has job commitments that i think would keep him from taking a head coach position...besides the fact that he isn't a teacher.

****you must be some kind of idiot or a ass kisser cause there aint a kid that plays there that enjoys playing for that s.o.b....and back to that gauging of a coach, lets look at his outstanding win-loss record...that speaks volumes 0-18 in the district...wahoo you go buzz your the best...GET REAL MORON...he cant coach his way out of a paper sack...regardless of what kind of talent you think he has, or even your son, if he could coach or teach the game he could at the very least be competitive in the district...NOT...if it werernt for panty waist teams he fills his tournaments with the jackass wouldnt have but 4-5 wins a year....bottom line...HE SUCKS AND NEEDS TO BE OUSTED

This kid is enough to turn any one off baseball. He is not up to the challenge of coaching these boys and some one is afraid to do anything about it. Probably becaiuse his dad's on the school board.Lenoir City has lost enough talent because of him to justify replacing him.

It is past time for a change. This man has total control of the facility, the children, the spectators, the money, etc for baseball, just like Joe Lee had controll of the gym for basketball. I can't understand why parents continue to give him money every year and the boys pay for this and that and nobody ever asks for any accounting. He keeps all his accounting in his head I think.

Why is that cause the parents want to baby the kids and dont wont them to work and get better? This is the same crap that went on with basketball. From what i have seen he tries to do more for the kids than anyone else they could get. He cant hit or catch or pitch for them. When it comes to the games my thought is it would be the kids playing the games.

you hit the nail on the head - these kids playing were probably something special in coach pitch and little league - now that the challenge is tougher it starts to show that the kids are only average - don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but let the boys have fun and cheer for your kids - more than likely this will be the last stop for them until they get picked up by the local church softball team - I watched them play twice last season and actually felt embarrassed for them - simply put it is just alot of father's trying to relive their youth - and apparently youth wasn't kind to them!

i dont have a kid that is playing or will be playing anytime soon but i love to watch a great baseball team, with that being said i believe its more than someone out to get Mcnish. How come these boys play so well up until they get to high school, not all of them are superstars but they have potential and its hard for someone who's only there for a paycheck and doesnt respect them to get anything out of the kids. Look at all our sports programs and tell me they dont need an enima from top to bottom!
