Full story: Fox4KC

A metro man who says that he is just trying to persuade people into opposing the culling of the deer population in Shawnee Mission Park poured a bucket of blood on himself as a protest against the planned deer hunt on Wednesday night.

And in just what way did this actually make him look smart. So making a fool out of himself...not to mention the amount of bacteria that he just dumped over his face that could cause illness, helps his cause??????

I think I'll just stick to hunting, COOKING, and enjoying the outdoors.

So he would rather the deer starve to death from the overpopulation? I guess seeing the deers' ribs sticking through and dying slowly would be better than killing some of them so that the others can have enough food and not spread disease.

Well the reason the media and people are not allowed to view the shooting of dear, is that idiots like this don't get in the way. David said it best, he would have the dear starve a very painfull death than to have the dear population controlled in this way.

Wow what a crazy person. I have been to the park several times. There r soo many deer they have to do something. There is no way that they can trap em all, and remove them. Crazy animal rights whacko's. God put the deer/animals here for us to eat. They r not just killing the deer. They will b used for food or something. If they were goin to just b destroyed, and nothing done with the animal I would have a different comment. I was one of them out there. So go rant and rave somewhere else...

They say every village has a village idiot.... And I think we just found one. Have you ever seen a deer after he has been hit by a car? The deer thrashes about, writhing in pain until someone humanely puts it out of its misery or its body finally gives up. That is what overpopulation leads to. Since we have few (if any) natural predators in Shawnee Mission Park, the natural scheme of things has been disrupted.

With this option, the deer dies quickly and humanely. The meat is processed and will go to help feed people who are hungry.

Death is a part of the cycle of life. Whether it is a coyote or other predator tearing the deer's throat out, a vehicle running him over in the street, or a hunter with his rifle, the deer is just as dead.

I find it interesting that no one has addressed Anthony Marr's affordable, non-lethal method for controlling the deer population in Shawnee Park. We should not lead our children to believe that killing is a solution to ANY problem.

The ABCs of Atrocity

sow the seeds of future perversity.
Animals are the means we use to teach
our children not only the basics of speech,
but to give them the tools they’re going to need
to begin elementary reading.

We ask “What does the cow say?”
“P is for pig” we tell them
while their animal friends scream in agony
as we mechanically and mercilessly slaughter them,

renaming their dismembered body parts
beef, pork, mutton and poultry
in order to distance the abattoir
from the innocence, the purity, of the nursery.

And as children learn that they are complicit
with their nuggets, wings, ribs and cheeseburgers,
they lock it down deep in denial,
repressing interfamilial murder.

Further, children learn god has given them
“dominion” over all other animals
and some of them practice what’s termed
“animal husbandry.” The 4-H is an example
of the indoctrination of impressionable children
into support of this hypocritical debacle.

It teaches children to care for an animal,
to feed her and groom her and name her,
grow up with her, win a blue ribbon,
and sell her to a restaurant in a stone cold betrayal.

In another perverse twist, we take kids into the woods
and arm them with deadly, high-powered weapons
and teach them to hunt down their animal friends,
who are essentially defenseless against them.

And since we no longer need them as food,
having made factory farms a mass murder industry,
their desecrated bodies are abandoned,
their stuffed heads prove their killers’ masculinity.

Thus what were once
bunnies, Bambi and myriad birds,
cows, sheep, chickens and pigs
who taught us our very first words
are changed into “game”, trophies and edible commodities,
which are undeniably tasty and outrageously profitable.

The point, however, is not sport,
not animal husbandry, nor even macho display,
but to inculcate in children that the value
of friends, love, loyalty and especially fair play

may be dispensed with in simple self-interest,
in particular with regard to “the other”,
thus turning them all into Cain, that they may
more easily make money off and murder their brothers.

It divorces the force of children’s emotions
from the consequences of having a conscience
in the service of their Financial Masters,
for whom they are willing to perpetrate violence

and from responsibility while feeling entitled to rape,
slaughter, plunder and excuse mass atrocities
with not an inkling of compassion or compunction
for either animals or the rest of humanity.

Spilling blood in Death Park may result in a littering citation?

I imagine many deer-killers will be surprised to learn that; or, perhaps this is just politically motivated law enforcement?

I think a story about how this meat will go to the purpose God intended it would be far better. Obviously this man is not in his right mind. There will be a lot of kids getting their bellies full this winter in spite of this guy.

Without debating the merits of how to cull the deer, it seems to me that keeping people away from the shooters is a safety issue. I'm sure the Parks Board wants to keep Mr Miller and others out of harms way.

So is the EPA or Johnson County County Health Department going to have him arrested or at least fine him for creating a biohazard by dumping the blood on a public street? How about littering?

What a moron.

Oh, and just in case you didn't know, deer carry ticks: http://health.jocogov.org/docs/lyme.pdf . And a lot of Deer carry a lot of ticks. Have fun jogging through the Johnson County Parks trail system.

Maybe bloody-boy should cover himself in deer ticks to protest the slaughter of the deer tick hosts.

My father hunted, and one thing he taught me was to respect what you kill by not wasting any part of that animal. If these deer are to be slain then they should feed those without food, and cover those in need of warmth, and one should say a blessing for life given to a life saved. Just killing because they are in the way makes me feel shame toward my fellow human. We live in a world of great violence and people have become weary.

If you thought yesterday was fraught with tension the temperature rises a few notches again today, as Mars turns retro in your house of finances and values. What's eating you? Maybe you're annoyed because your spare time is being eroded by duties that are weighing heavily on your shoulders. You might also be miffed by the flippant attitude of a certain person who you think should be taking life a lot more seriously. Calm down or you'll blow a gasket.
