The Journal had a big article about Jensen a couple weeks back and haw they had a great year last year. Didn`t someone get killed at Jencast last Oct. and they still had a great year anyway?

hmmm - Would I pay for a daily newspaper 10 years agao - Yes certainly - Would i pay for a daily newspaper 5 years ago - Maybe yes if just for page 3 - Would i buy a daily newspaper today - Absolutely not for gods sake - Online news is far better with links to media and live comments - WHY would you? I cant see any reason for me to buy a daily paper ... In my opinion of course.

I see more news just going to work everyday, I have my moble Scanner that tells me, what's going on right here in town. Would you believe it never makes it in our town news paper. When i talk about it, people act like It's bs, WOW ! sometimes you depend on the Journal to pick up on a good news story now or then. BUT NO !! WHAT IN THE HELL IS WRONG WITH OUR NEWS PAPER ? The Coffeyville journal has had different owners and they still can't get a good story out to bring other readers to their interest. You have better news in the Independence Reporter. G**DAMMIT ! that's 20 miles out of town and they are getting the Coffeyville Customers more update than our own home town news paper has to offer. WHO reads our paper ==If i want to know about a fire or theft nextdoor to me I buy the Reporter.. The funny thing is, I only live 3 blocks from the Journal here in town..{ I tell you what by God ! The COFFEYVILLE JOURNAL SUCKS !!!} No if or buts about it ! bunch of lazy no good for nothing workers too.

Having a paper with local news is great. But why can't they follow up on some of the stories they start? You can get interested in a story, its then dropped and you don't know what happened after that.
For example the bank robbery. It was robbed, the guy caught, was to have a prelem, then what? Was money found, was he booked, where is he? None of this was in paper.

the journal is worst paper around! the new publisher has not helped at all. the new editor needs to back to school and learn how to write and spell. i take the reporter, get more cville news and it is a top notch paper!

Try Calling them when your news paper don't show up ! after our paper girl quite because it was wet outside. no one on our whole block didn't get a paper. this was on a friday, there was no answer at the office, but a recording === sorry we missed your call, leave your name and Number we'll return your call.sure next Week more like it ! Our paper girl was replaced and now a girl drives by in her car throwing our paper in the street to be ran over a few times before my son picks it up.. We bought a Journal box, Ha ! No Luck she's to fat and lazy to put our paper inside the box.. after a week with her, I asked to be taken off their delivery route and demand my refund back for 6 months. It's been 3 months since then, I still don't have my refund money back.. I souldn't have to trace people down to get good service in my own town. I take the Indep, Reporter and I'll never go back to the Journal ever again.*** Mark my word people I get what I pay for and I'm happy Now !*** Yes the journal news SUCKS $.

I ran Ad with the journal awhile back, I swear no one ever reads them. My son wants to start a lawn mowing Business up in town. without good advertisment, he don't have much of a chance geting customers, so he can mow their yards this summer in town. anyone got any ideas there ?

Try the Good News. It seems more people do read it.

Good News is the paper to advertise in, it gets around to a lot more towns and it's cheaper. Everybody reads the Good Ol' Good News.

The Journal did a follow up on the bank robbery story. Told where he was booked and what he was charged with and when the trial would be.

Lots of people gripe...but do they take the time to talk to anyone at the Journal? I did and I got my item in no problem at all, in fact they were very nice to me.

Some of you need a critic to come to your job every day and tell you every single thing you do wrong just to see how it feels.

I just like to see effort. At least we're getting that, and in the past, I can't say we did. Nice to see a Journal face at some events. THey can't do it all. Neither can you at your job. Or wait, is every single person on here a wonder wiz at their job doing every single thing right all the time?

WOW, you must work for the Journal!

I think the journal has slipped severely in that last few years. For awhile, the best local coverage they had was in the sports section. Since Kevin Krier passed away and Jake Wade and Erik Casebeer left the paper, the sports coverage has slipped in line with the rest of the local events. Sports was the only reason to buy the paper. The local coverage with the boxscores and all the added features are sorely missed now. They also have not had an editor who has cared about the paper since John Burris left. David Mink didn't really have the experience and Joe Thomas....well, thats a whole other post!

where do you buy local news ? Surely not the Coffeyville Journal. the editors suck and the only thing local here in Coffeyville is the word of mouth.... I wouldn't waste my money on the Reporter from Independence Ks.. They don't give you any detail on anything, unless you give them the facts yourself.. Bunch of NO GOODERS when it comes to local news..Anyone know why we don't get the funny pages in the Sunday paper anymore..? suppose to save them money, but the paper still cost the same. WHY BOTHER BUYING THE NEWS PAPER ?
It's not even worth stealing in my book, and it's like sandpaper to wipe your ass with too.. so it's no good no matter how you talk about it !!!!

Every small community needs a source of local news...wish we had one in Coffeyville. Chamber of Commerce press releases ,self-promoting 'informative letters' from the publishers favorite Republicans and sprorts scores are not actually local news. It could be Mr. Taylor is just too busy with his other publications to care. Why not let someone who does have the time and the inclination take it over and give us back our local paper?
