Good question! Why is it taking so long? There is a family grieving. Waiting on this investigation is not giving the family the peace or closure they deserve.

Brooklyn Coons died Jan 20, 2008 under questionable circumstances. According to the Coffeville Journal there is an active investigation underway., that the law enforcement and the legal departments are waiting on the medical examiners report and for it to be deciphered for all to understand. That was four months ago. How long does this stuff take? Was this baby’s death and accident or was it murder? Has this baby been forgotten? There are family and friends waiting to hear the out come of her death.

Hey the detectives that are working on this case is also working on the Dennis Homicide. They have done an excellant job on the Dennis Homicide and they did not file charges for several months more than this. I know people are grieving but they should be patient and give the detectives time to build the case. When you hurry or start getting pushed by people while doing these cases then you start making mistakes. The detectives are her voice now, let them speak.

Your point is well taken. However, having to share the streets with those that were responsible for how she and the other children in that home were being cared for is more than a family should have to endure. She was one of four children. Thankfully the other three have been permanently removed from their parents care. But why is this investigation even necessary? Why did SRS allow Brook to die so the other three could be taken out of harms way when they knew what was happening?

It seems that SRS didn't do anything to prevent the death of that baby girl. I wonder if they will be investigated along with the ones who murdered her. It would be nice to see some actual anything from the police office on what is going on and if they have any leads. I understand that they shouldn't be rushed..but 4 months knowing who killed that baby girl and not doing anything. If they are doing something then I would like to know about it because it sure seems like doing nothing when the killers are walking the streets free and happy. And the truth is... no one, not even the police have even said what really happened to Brooklyn. I know she had to have been beat or something because the other kids were taking out of that home real quick after the baby girl was taking to the hospital. Just seems fishy that no one is telling the community anything.

The police are not saying anything because it is probably going to trial and if we get a jury pool they can not pick a jury pool from people that read the miquoting Coffeyville Journal. I have heard that the case has been sent to the county attorney, what a coincidence just in time for election time. As for SRS, I think the people that investigate them are either the Kansas Attorney General or KBI, I do not think it is left up to local law enforcement. We are all concerned about her or they walking the street.

Its a two year old little girl, police and EMS were called and found the child not breathing. An investigation insued and she died from being shaken.

from what I here the father and girlfriend have told two different stories to different people. to one person they said that the kids were playing and one of the kids jumped on the little girl and she stopped breathing and when I saw them at the bar less than a week after it happened Randy said that the girlfried was trying to save her from choking. What's the real story here?????????

It is my understanding that these two have come up with a number of different stories that don't fit the medical information. Does anyone have any idea what really happened to this little girl? Choking to dying of brain injuries seems a stretch.

Question: What kind of father is out drinking and partying less than a week after his baby girl dies. Has anyone seen this --- guy (difficult to think of such a person as a man) shed a tear?

The only story they haven't come up with is the truth. But I am hoping that they will not need to confess to get charged with murder. I have heard that she did say she shook that baby and I believe Brook died from SBS=shaking baby syndrome, so that is a confession to me. They both need to be put in jail for a long time.

A little girl lost her life dont you think people want to how and have the person to pay for this? Everyone is questioning how and why this could happen. HOW RUDE-THIS IS LIFE!!!

I find it interesting that a murder way out in Western Kansas can generate such interest but the death of a baby right here at home seems to go largely un-noticed. What's the deal? No one has answered my first question. What happened and who is involved?

Perhaps most people realize losing a child is a sensitive issue and think posting a bunch of uselss opinions and half truths on the internet will not aid in getting justice.

I still see nothing in the Coffeyville Journal about this. Has nothing been done? Are charges going to be filed? Seems daily the news carries reports of similar situations and the abuser has been arrested and jailed immediately. Are these two still walking the streets hand in hand like nothing happened and this little girl never existed?
