If u don't like troopers and cops .... It's probably because u are doing something u shouldn't!!!! If u don't have anything to hide from them . Why are u people so against them . They are doing their job!! Nobody's perfect ....not even those complaining and whining ! Respect the law and those sworn to uphold it. If there is a question or problem with a police officer handle it with dignity and respect!!!!! I am glad they are out there to protect and serve! You guys may need them one day!!!!!!!!!!

To the troopers who tell the public to mind their own business and don't worry about what the troopers are doing. In this country, the public not only has a RIGHT to know what govt and law enforcement are doing with THEIR property, time, and on THEIR behalf, they have the responsibility!!

That's right, 20 weeks of pain for a lifetime of pride! I'm a Mississippi State Trooper and I can tell you a lot of times the reason we don't run lights and siren is because of driver's that freak out and don't know what to do when they see an emergency vehicle. More times than a few, drivers simply stop in the middle of the road when they see those blue lights coming. If you don't believe me, ride with a Trooper, you'll see! It's a lot easier getting where you have to go without running your lights if you can help it.
Windows are blacked out because law enforcement vehicles are exempt from the tint law. It also provides us with a little bit of cover in case we are targeted by some individual that might want to cause us harm. Believe it or not, we have to wear a bullet proof vest to work everyday, because their are people out there would love to kill one of us. So while you guys are sitting back in your office chairs, complaining about how Troopers drive or that you got stopped and ticketed for driving fast, we'll be out there keeping YOUR highways safe from drunks, reckless drivers and drug runners. So feel free to criticize us as much as you want, we will still be out there, day in and day out, serving the public. By the way, I work Hwy 25, maybe I'll see you out there one day.
What are the laws as far as uniforms? Is it true a MHP must be wearing his hat as part of uniform when making a traffic stop?

Can a MHP legally make a traffic stop & write a ticket without his hat on? I've always been told they can't,& I've never seen one exit his vehicle before reaching for that hat, until today.

Why do you worry about what everyone else is doing? Just obey the law and you won't have to worry about getting a ticket. You think you know everything but you are not in their shoes and have no idea what is REALLY going on. By the way, law enforcement transports dignitaries so that is why they have such dark windows. Once again, you don't have all the facts and are getting bent out of shape for nothing. Mind your own business and you will be much better off.
Your response represents an attitude indicative of someone who has been granted authority to perform a duty but abuse the power. Law enforcement personnel who violate the speed limit and may or may not cause injuries or death. Whose business is it then? You set the example and others, in most cases, will follow.

I am a Louisiana resident who drives to Jackson, MS to visit the Jackson Cancer Center several times a year. I drive with cruise control set to 69. MS State Trooper never stops me. Earlier last week, while driving to the cancer center on Hwy 84 East (speed limit 65) through Lincoln County, I came upon a Trooper ahead who had just finished with another driver. He pulled into the left lane and there was a driver ahead of him about two car lengths. I reduced my speed to 67 and moved over to the right lane. I waved at him but did not see a response because of the cruiser tinted windows. He moved his vehicle to the right lane behind me and turns on his light. I immediately pulled over, complied with his instructions and accepted the ticket. I showed him that my car cruise control showed 67 and he replied, "You need to get it fix. I clocked you at 69." This is stated on the ticket.

I drive throughout this country and never been stopped while cruise control set on 70 in 65 Mph highways. Yes, the law is 65 and therefore anything over exceeds the speed limit. Therefore, Troopers should ticket everyone driving more than 65 mph on 65 mph highway. Someone realized this would not be smart on a major highway. I was behind (approximately two car lengths) him doing 67; he had to be driving a little faster and the car in front of him driving faster than his car.

This Trooper, unlike the majority of MS Troopers, needs to understand the power given to him is not to be abuse. I will pay the ticket and I prayed for the Trooper as I turned on left signal to enter traffic and go to the cancer center. By the way, when I called the municipal court to find out the amount of the fine and the young person could not believe I received a ticket for 69 on a 65 MPH highway.

I agree with you. However, not all of us sit behind the desk every day. I am a retired Army Officer who understood that when war or combat comes, I agree to go. I agreed to participate in training every day that could get me killed or seriously hurt so that you can do your job safely. This is not to say my job was more dangerous than yours was. I point out each of us made the choice to serve and understood the dangers that come with the job. When I trained cadets, I made sure each understood what the Army requires and expects.

Extreme rights violations are being committed by mississippi highway patrol officers....especially against minorities and gays. Feds need to investigate constitutional rights being violated by a state that is known for rights violations.

My Mom & I was on Hwy 25 yesterday (Mon.).
Traffic stopped bc a 18-wheeler overturned around 3:30 or 4 PM.
The traffic finally started moving but very slow. While stopped I did have phone on record but as I do a lot I had my phone with both hands on the steering wheel but I wasn't looking at the phone at all.
We got around to where the police were parked and this stupid idiotic patrolman if that's what you want to call him screamed at me to get off the phone. Well, I did what he said and laid the phone in my lap.
He screamed at me again and said pull over now and he got in his patrol car as if I was going to leave or something and the stupid idiot drive his car about 5 feet behind me.
He came to my window screaming at me and said when I say to do something then you best do it and threatened to take me to jail several times. I never talked back to him but I said yessir and nosir.

This was totally uncalled for. Little does he know that I only laid my phone in my lap but it didn't turn off as I thought it had.
I got his patro car number and video of him standing talking to other officers and then it shows the sorry dumb idiot scream at me and the conversation is on my phone so Mr PSYCHO officer. It's officers like you the reason people hate police officers. He's very lucky it was me a very easy going non violent guy bc there are some red necks that would have fought him but the way I'm getting him back is I am posting the conversation on YouTube and I am also contacting the highway patrol and I'm filing a major report.
There's a way to tell someone to put their phone down and the way this stupid idiot did it made him be a shame and disgrace to law enforcement. This happened on hwy 25 in Fulton, MS. I hope this man loses his job and is never allowed to practice law ever again
My Mom is elderly and it scared her so bad.
I'm NOT going to put up with it.

I will go do whatever I have to to get his stupid butt in trouble.

I truly believe the way he looked while screaming at me that he could have shot me but I just happen to be a Christian man and I not violent but he won't get by with this. I hope he does this same thing to someone some day and they give him what he needs
