People are quick to tell stories about Pit Bulls, they are wonderful dogs that get in the hands of the wrong people. I know personally that the person that owns the pit bull loves the pit bull and the pit bull is a sweet dog. Maybe it was just being protective. There are always two sides to every story. My son was once attacked by a pit bull, however, just the way that we stereo type people....we stereo type dogs as well. I ended up buying a pit bull and it is the best friend my son could have. Really people...do we have to always make this big deal about pit bulls...I mean any dog could have bit this guy.

Pit Bulls don't bite people, people bite people. Oh wait a minute, pit bulls do bite people. Pit bulls can be very dangerous. The thing people don't understand about pit bulls and other dogs like this is that a lot of them are inbreed and have issues. If you follow the blood line back and pay top dollar for one they can be good dogs. When I say top dollar I mean thousands not 50. So if you got the few hundred dollar or less it probably needs to be put to sleep.

Dogs who attack/bite people should be put down by law enforcement on the spot and charges should be filed against the owner. The only exception should be if the dog bites its owner.

People who abuse animals should be put down by law enforcement on the spot too then. Dogs behave as they are trained. However, I had a really good dog until someone hurt him, then he snapped at them out of reflex reaction. Like someone said above. There is always two sides to a story. The dog can't tell it's side. If she didn't see the dog until it jumped up and bit her, she may have accidently stepped on it's tail or foot. There is a difference between a snap, and an attack. A vicious dog attack would rip a person's face off. I'm glad she is alright. But, acting like it's because it is a pit bull is rediculous. People are more likely to hurt someone than a dog is unless it is trained to do so.

You mean a dog can bite you on the leg and rip your face off? Holy crap I need to be more careful.

No, that's not what I meant. I am attempting to point out that snapping someone is a reflex reaction to pain, sometimes. It doesn't mean an animal is vicious. If it was, it would not just have snapped at someone. It would have really torn into them. I wasn't belittling the lady's pain. Just don't think it is right to assume an animal should be put down for a one time incident. Humans have bad days, don't we?

For one thing the dog didn't need to be in the car in the first place it should have been left at home. I have been bitten in the face by a dog (not a pit bull) but if I'm not mistaken any dog that bites anyone has to be quarantined for rabies and then put down. It shouldn't matter if it was pit or a chihuahua.

well not true that dogs are corrinetened and watched for rabies and put down. I know as I am going through this process. I have to say it is biast that pitbull was killed on the scene but a dog rips apart my daughters face here and no it wasnt corrinteened untill four days later after we raised a fuss and went out of the county above the health dept here. So pitbulls get shot on the spot and choc lab who has attacked two ppl in a year, doesnt get put down doesnt have to be kept inside and no one sees a problem with this picture. Well I do my little girl is suffering and cant even smile now because of damage, the police reports are suddenly wrong, or stories are different than original one. But maybe thats because they never got our statement because there was no report made for four days!!!!! when will people stand up for whats right and any dog who bites someone should be put down. I know more ppl need to focus on the big picture of that victim was someones wife mother daughter or family member it is traumatic for the victim.

There wasn't a police report taken when I was bit. If I were you speaking for victims I would go to the county attorney and see about pressing a civil complaint charge (I believe that is what it is called) or get a gun and next time dog is on your property shoot it. We had a bog last year (a black lab) that chased my daughter from the bus stop to my front door and tried to bite her leg as she came in my door. We called the cops and they couldn't find it so the next day I went to Ward and told him I would shoot it, he said if it is on your property tearing up something or being threatening toward your family shoot it. I had been told that other people have been sued for this, he said I believed it was a danger to myself or my kids to shoot it. Quite frankly if they wanted the dog they would have found a way to keep it on their own property.

Well, any dog, especially a pit, that ever comes on my property and even comes near my kids the wrong way is getting shot. I get so tired of stupid people letting these pitbulls run around the neighborhood loose. If your dog is so wonderful and you are so concerned about it keep it at home where you can watch it. Owners are always called stupid in a pitbull case. The only thing all the idiots say is, its the owners fault and it wasn't raised right. Bullsh*t. I have known of people to treat these dogs like gold and they have attacked owners and children. Believe what you want, make excuses. I know every pitbull is not going to attack in its lifetime, but I am not taking that chance with my children. They are dogs, animals, and any idiot that would trust their childs life to an animal doesn't need to be responsible for children.
