PS. I remember as a child in the old Leitchfield School. I was raised so poor we thought it was a sin to breathe all the air we wanted. I was in a class with some other students. The other students were well know kids in the community, their parents were the affluent, and they were my friends. One day in gym class the teacher said "Hold all the basketballs, no more shooting." One of the other boys shot the ball anyway. The teacher turned and saw who it was.(That boy is a successful business person in our community now, and still my friend.) The teacher would never had brought judgment against him, so he turned to me that happened to be standing next to my friend. He took his whistle strap and struck me across the neck and face. Drawing blood and leaving a large whelp across my neck and face. I was infuriated....not totally because he did it, but because he knew I was not the one guilty. I never accused my friend of being wrong, or being shown special honor.....but I purposed to climb out of the pit I was born into. I did that! And today I am thankful that I was able to take every negative happening in my life and allowed it to mold me into the person I was able to become. Just thought I would share that story with you.
VOW, I bet I know who this teacher was. I've witnessed similar things when I attended the same school.

Just glad my children enjoy the academics and are working toward REAL Scholarships not the pipe dream of "playing ball" into college.

Grayson County is no differant than most other schools i have seen its always more who you are vs being the most talented.

It is truely sad to do this to children but really folks if you see it it is real so move on.

sounds like you have all the answers. As usual... This is pretty easy to figure out who posted this. Since you are probably a 19 year old "know it all" who likes to referee and "coach". Why don't you go up to the coach and let him know how you really feel. You seem to tell everyone else in the community how awful the coaches are at the middle school.
I think last year you were referring to the 7th grade coach as a quote "racist".
What coach have you ever liked that has coached your family member?

Here is the thing. The middle school coaches have always played their own kids and the kids that hang out with their kids. If your kid isn't in the "in crowd" then their chances of playing are slim to none. The coaches can pretend all they want but the fact is you have to have a certain last name or have connections in Oder to get any play time. There have been several great ball players that has came through the middle school and never played because of middle school coach favoritism. This isn't a secret but it is a shame. The schools system should do something about this.

I don't know of any great players who have come through and not gotten to play. For that matter, I can't think of any great players who have come through Grayson County, period.

Ok I'll give you that but they have been better than the ones who did play.

Middle School basketball is the prep for High School. If you really think theres no favoritism involved, you are wrong. Anyway, it will never change as long as the same coaching staffs are there. The 7th grade coach is doing a great job, however. I havent seen any favoritism from him this year. He coaches to win. Look at who plays and who doesnt get much playing time or any playing time. Even when they are up 20+ points. I know one things for sure, certain players would get more playing time at other schools and win against GC middle if they faced them, 8th grade that is. Sick of it!!!!
