I dont know why the middle school had 150 kids show up for tryouts when they already had the players they wanted picked before they ever started. They wasted a lot of peoples time and gas. Isnt it something that all of Kyle Cannons aau team but a couple were the ones picked. I guess so Majors boys would be picked by Cannon in a couple years. Politics will never go away. I miss coaches like Don Lee who played the better players. I guess certain people enjoy having a political reputation. Makes them feel special. You know, the look at my kid kind of attitude. Ive vented enough.

Did u ever stop to think maybe the kids on Kyle's team were the best ball players. Kyle didn't pick bad players to be on his AAU team.

Kids were picked before tryouts started? Don't suprise me if its true and it sure looks that it could be true. Politics are worse in basketball than any sport in GC.

TRUTH IS--the boys aren't just picked for their athleticism. They're also picked based on their attitude, their maturity level and their character. Some weren't picked because theyve got poor attitudes, they're silly and run with the wrong crowd. ITS CALLED LIFE. The coaches dont want boys on the bench playing checkers or looking at the girls, they want em watching! Quit crying kf it were meant for all the boys to play-theyday wouldn't be called TRYOUTS!!! QUIT CRYING

if you watched all 3 days and you thought the coaches kid was better than the rest well your blind and freaking stupid. He got on the team because of his dad plane and simple and if you argue this point your an idiot. HEY think about it--- if they were picked for their attitude and maturity level why did they pick a kid that is known to cry in games almost every game. Just saying and to be honest the first day the coaches stood in a circle and didn't even watch the kids it almost looked like they had a cirle jerk going on and thats the truth total waste of time for the kids I have nothing against any of the kids I just want the county to be honest and say hey we picked our buddies kids

Its ok. If these kids are the best choice, we'll see! I hope they do well, but from what I see, the 5th grade class will struggle as 6th graders. Talent drops of below our current 6th grade class. So these picks were totally political! I was taught that you earn what you want. When its handed to you with no effort required, you tend to lack appreciation and desire. There were kids who were well deserving to make the team with GREAT attitudes and maturity and were cut all because they aren't in the crowd. If this is how the coaches pick, I don't want to be in that crowd anyway.

Its not based entirely on who the parents are-one boy picked wasnt even from here. I never said one was any better than another. But- what was Kyle cannon even brought up for? That'll be on topix when ur kid goes to high school I'm sure. if it weighs so heavy on ur mind-let ur kid play at Church of Joy where nobody has to try out!

All I have to say is that the buddy system needs to stop . We all know why some of the kids made it and it makes me sick.i agree with most of the comments on here that this is rigged. What we should do is go to the school board with these issues and try to get butt kissers like "cry baby Cannon" out of the system.I know there are better ball players that were cut than half the ones picked. It's not hard for everyone to see when kids on the ball team get thumped by ones that the "inn crowd" didn't pick.

I have watched Kyle cannons kid play several times and he is pretty good. Yes, some of the kids that were picked are all in the same crowd, but did you ever stop to think it is because these kids all play a lot of ball. When all you do is eat sleep and breath ball more than likely you are going to be friends with people who do the same thing. Therefore yes these kids and parents are in the same crowd but it is because they all play so much ball and doesn't it make since that the kids who play the most ball and are the most dedicated are the best players. Think about it!!!!!

Kyle Cannon is a bully and yells at the kids like they are animals and not humans. He has his own kid crying at every single game I have watched. I know that there are parents of freshman that are ready to go to the school board as soon as he shows his butt the very first time. It will happen, believe me, he can't keep his arrogant mouth shut. He is a fat loser that no one likes but gets where he gets because of his family, certainly not by his own actions.

"Plane and simple"?......well honestly, if he can fly a plane he should make the team. That's a pretty neat talent for a middle school kid.

On a lighter note, I hope that this isn't a disgruntled adult who is calling this kid names. If it is, you should man up and go lay down in front of a train. Any grown man who has the audacity to get on a website and call out a kid doesn't deserve to breathe the same air as other decent people.

I say you would be better served to take a grammar/spelling class. They have them for adults here in the county and they are usually free of charge.

Finally, get out and do something productive. Mow your grass, help an old lady across the street, figure out how to distinguish your a$$ from a hole in the ground, but please, leave the children alone.

your right captain obvious calling out a kid is wrong but cutting better players so a coaches kid can play is wrong too.It is very sad to see how our county has turned into what it has good luck this season

We all love our kids, and most of the time it is hard to see our own child with eyes of truth. It is easy to set on the sidelines and call a game. Any time you have about 70 kids trying for a few positions, a lot of hurt feelings develop. Some parents make the ultimate sacrifice for the development of their child's skills in certain sports. I think all of the kids who made the MS basketball team were kids that are dedicated to the game, and play it 12 months a year. Also, any child who is good enough to be chosen to play on an AAU team is more likely to make the next level of ball. In AAU the child faces, and plays against, far more sever competition than they will face in Jr Pro or in the Church of Joy ball leagues. AAU is for the best of the best, committed and dedicated kids to the game. Most of those kids play basketball daily....all year long...and give up other sports to excel in the one sport. With that said, I commend those kids who have paid their debt. A lot of the kids who have not made the MS team, If they would join leagues in the county, and play for the next 12 months, might find themselves making the team next year. I commend our coaching staff for their dedicated work, their hard work, and the thankless sacrifices they make. My kids might never be chosen to play, but I will accept part of the responsibility for that. 1) Have I been willing to commit them the time to develop the skills they need to play? 2) And am I honest in my evaluation in their ability to play. I would never pull out a child's name and make statements that would crush them. Congratulations to the kids that made the team, and I am sorry for the ones that did not. Maybe next time. Work hard and continue to play and you might see your rejection turned into acceptance. Larry Bird, a great NBA basketball player, and Hall of Fame ball player, was first cut from his HS team. He committed himself to shot 1,000 foul shots per day for the next year. After a year of practicing shooting, he returned to make the HS team, and on to college, and the NBA.

Kyle Cannon was ask to come and watch the tryouts. It was a courtesy call. I have no kids playing AAU, but wish I did. However, playing AAU can be any player in Grayson County, or anywhere else. Any parent can develop a team and play AAU. I comment the parents that are willing to make the sacrifice. If I had a team, an AAU team, I would pick whom I wanted. I am not friends with anyone involved, but neither am I an enemy. AAU ball offers the player to play in competition different from league playing. Playing advanced competition builds players. We don't get much better playing people our equal, but we are forced to improve as we play people above us. Kyle, I understand, has made that sacrifice. How many of us are willing to work all week, and then spend all day on Saturdays and Sundays in a gym with AAU. That's what I am stressing. Why should I expect the same promotion of my child when I am not willing to make the same sacrifice. I know Kyle, coach Majors, and coach Ray make that sacrifice. They spend their off times in gyms training their boys the game of basketball. A child that has committed their time and work to the game should obviously get further rewards. It is not kicking down one and lifting another....it is setting priorities and that paying off. I comment you (Kyle-Shawn-Rusty) for your commitments. If I have not made the same commitment, I certainly refuse to knock those who have. If you take your sons hunting, fishing, playing baseball, or soccer, and divide their time into every department.....why would you think they should be promoted above the child who loves and plays basketball 12 months a years and does none of the other things. If I got to a restaurant, and am willing to only buy a hamburger, I really should not be critical of the person in the next booth that is eating a T-bone steak. WHY! Because he is willing to pay the price and I am not. The same is true with life. And certainly true with sports. Pay the price and reap the benefits.
Thats right
