So, why would the school settle? They must feel some kind of responsibility, or guilt.

You must not be familiar with the court system. Sometimes it's easier and less expensive to settle out of court than to keep building legal fees and drag something out. The attorneys are the ones to profit when this happens. The school stated they didn't accept responsibility. At times it's better to give the plaintiffs something and move on. It doesn't mean guilt. Thats just the way it works sometimes. Insurance companies settle cases like this all the time. Trials and court fees are very expensive.

I hope the Walkers feel better now that it's over. Perhaps they'll use some of the money for grief counseling. My prayers are with them, as well as with the coaches, parents, school administrators and everyone else involved in this tragic event.

Coaches and teachers, and even parents don't know all the health conditions that a child has unless there have been signs and confirmation by a doctor. This boy very unfortunately died, but who knew he had any condition that would cause this? I'm sure the coaches would have no way of knowing unless the parents informed them. I feel bad for the Walker family because they lost a child, but I also feel very badly for these coaches who will always have this horrible incident with them. I'm a firm believer that when God is ready for you, you're gonna go no matter what or who is there to try to stop you. Prayers go out to everybody that's been affected by this. It was just a horrible, freak incident and nobody was to blame in my eyes.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WALKER KID, THE ONES DOGGING THE COACHES ARE JUST PARENTS WHO ARE ILL BECAUSE THEIR KID SUCKED SO BADLY AT BASKETBALL THAT THESE COACHES CUT THEIR KID OR NEVER LET THEM PLAY IN A REAL GAME.

I think the reason they sued was to try and find out what happen the last few minutes that their son was alive,it seems mighty funny that the only part on the tape that got erased was they last few minutes of this boys life, so I ask you if it was your child would you not want to know everything that happen?????

They know nothing will bring there son back. But what they have done has exposed the flaws in the system.
"Flaws in the system" had nothing to do with how he died? The Coaches had NOTHING to do with it, they got to go get drinks of water whenever they needed it. I agree to whoever said that suing them wouldn't bring they're son back. In my opinion, it was ridiculous to sue them, due to the fact that it WASN'T THEIR FAULT!

And you think that insurance is free?
First off today is the anniversary of Keith's passing!!
You are worried about insurance and the schools budget when a child has died? Apparently you are a heartless human because it's not about the money!!!!!! The Walkers have money, trust me!! All they wanted was for someone to take responsibility!! And whats worse is that all they really wanted was someone to just even say they were sorry and guess what------NEITHER COACH even said they were sorry!!! Not at all!! Who cares about the insurance and money a child died that should be what people are thinking about!! It couldv'e been ANYONES child!! Then would you be saying that?

It was never about money, they already have that. Put aside the childish comments for today, pray for this family ! They would give every dime they have to see their son one more time!
God Bless you Michael and Amy Walker.

FYI
If you are going to quote then quote it right
"The LOVE of money is the roof of all evil.....
My Comment: Money isn't evil. Money is accepted in the bible, we are commanded to pay our taxes etc. It is people's love and obsession with money that can be evil if it causes you to become evil and to stray from your faith. The American system is based upon money many times people are required to pay money for their wrong doing or their omissions of proprer care (Speeding Ticket). The issue with money is that all people use money but some are used by money. There are many people who have very little money that become obssesed with other people's money they become jealous. There are people who would rather lie and cheat to take money from others such as some of the people on welfare that truly do not deserve to receive it. There are those that abuse the system and work under the table to get around paying taxes which in turn require the hardworking folks like Dr Walker to pay for the slackers. Money is the tool we use in our society for commerce and and is provided as a means within the legal system for folks to be held accountable. If someone is to be held accountable for whatever reason and they are required to pay or chose to pay money it really has nothing to say about the person receiving the money. I know for a fact that there are hundreds of folks in Leitchfield that are receiving money illegally no one can say Dr Walkers case was illegal so before the stone is thrown look at those around you and take a good look in the mirror.

According to Barnes Commentary of the Bible:
For the love of money is the root of all evil - That is, of all kinds of evil. This is evidently not to be understood as literally true, for there are evils which cannot, be traced to the love of money - the evils growing out of ambition, and intemperance, and debasing lusts, and of the hatred of God and of goodness. The expression here is evidently a popular saying - "all sorts of evils grow out of the love of money." Similar expressions often occur in the classic writers; see Wetstein, in loc, and numerous examples quoted by Priceaus. Of the truth of this, no one can doubt. No small part of the crimes of the world can be traced to the love of gold. But it deserves to be remarked here, that the apostle does not say that "money is the root of all evil," or that it is an evil at all. It is the "love" of it which is the source of evil.
