If you really want to know get off your lazy allegedly disabled ass and contact the SSI office. I for god sake you don't have anything else to do other than live off if hard working taxpayers. Surely you are not too stupid to pick up a phone and dial a number.

Hello, I am 23 years old and get ssi/disability which is $721.00 a month. I have a boyfriend who is 29 years old and on SSDI he makes $1100.00 a month. We been wanting to get married but where both worried I would get cut off if we do. I have multiple disabilities and so does he. I was told for SSI we couldn't make more than $3000.00 a month put together. I just want to know if mine would get taken away. It's not exactly fair having to choose from marrying the man I love and not getting married because my money could get taken away even knowing both of us have disabilities.

OK. there is no reason to be mean about it. Do you have disabilities and cant work because of it. this person isn't stupid maybe they want to know someone else's thoughts before calling. is that what you think disabled people do is live off the tax payers? I'm pretty sure the disabled people in the world would love to get a fancy job and make tons of money like you. oh wait you problly don't make a lot of money and even have a job if you on here talking shit about something you no nothing about

it might be a little bit better if you were to not get on here proclaiming you make that much money doing nothing. Your 23? So that means you are drawing over 700 dollars a month having paid in basikly nothing. It's not that if you need it you shouldn't get it. But the majority of people around here that gets it can do what ever they want. Pull dear out if the woods, stay on 4 wheelers all the time, it's just a slap in the face to someone who is busting there ass trying to work and barely scrapping by.

How does SSI go about determining whether someone gets married? Do they check the records of the person's state of residence? If so, can the person go out of state to get married, so the records don't show in their home state?
Just wondering

Ok buddy, I worked my ass off for 35 years, paid in more in taxes, social security and Medicare than you've probably made in your lifetime. I was in a work related accident that busted my body up. I can't live the life I used to but I'll be damned if I give up hunting along with everything else I lost in the waiting process, or that I physically had to give up. I have good buddies that help me and make it possible for my deer to get drug out. So maybe you should know what your talking about before you let all that shiyt fly out. I had my 4 Wheeler before the accident paid hard earned money for it and out enables me to get around, so again you are clueless. Want my pain? I'll give it to you.

For the record, if you are getting SSI then yes they will combine your incomes. If you are only getting disability social security then no, they can't.
Its stupid to punish disabled people who are in love.

So please tell us what your disability is. We are all entitled to know since we are the ones paging your way in life. I'm sure you think the government is paying you well they are not. It is me and anyone else who as a job that is paying you.
Its comments like yours that pray that God allows sickness to come on you..Pure ignorance..So if you got cancer and couldn't work or you hurt your back..Should one say go homeless..Its not cause someone did something wrong and needed it..they got sick..you can't help being sick.....Social Security is not like welfare..You can't go and just get approved so there illness's are real...who are you??? your not the judge not only that I am sure you got a bunch of spider weds in your life which makes you a horrible person...There innocent sick people pick on someone else...

Right On! I am so sick of these lazy f-uks laying around while I work 12-16hrs a day 6 days a week. The ones I really cant stand are those obese f-uks on the scooters that think that being fat is a disability while loading their shopping cart with cakes and ice cream and pay for it with food stamps. All of which WE have to pay for. I think those nasty smelly lard asses should be exterminated....

I am 40 years old. I draw SSI after a TBI 3 years ago which left me without the use of my left side at all. I lacked 1/2 of a work credit to get SSDI when it happened meaning that I had worked all my life up until then so I have paid into the system. I also receive Medicaid.

I have a great guy in my life. He brings in around $450 every 2 weeks and does not own anything aside from a 99 model toyota car. Rents his home and owns no land.

Would I lose my check if we were to get married? Please no rude comments.

I believe from my understanding of it all as I too am on SSD and am pondering the whole marriage thing to my soulmate that I have know for 15 years and have shared my life with for 11 of those wonderful years that the coment that came on June 23, 2012 from WHAT IT IS has it backwards. SSD is when you don't work (like myself) and SSI is insurance for when you retire. THEY CAN'T TOUCH SSDI WHEN YOU GET MARRIED, atleast that's what I've gotting from my research. My problem is I'm still trying to figure out my food stamp situation. And if there's a lasp time on the SSDI check being deposited into my savings, will it still go in on the 1st of the May if I get married on the 15th of April? And does anyone else know if they can take my maincare? From what I've seen so far I don't think so. Now onto the SPIRITUAL CERIMONY....if your gonning to be with someone and l
