Public humiliation. Just... look at that title. "Humiliation". You're a bully, addiefree.

Okay. There are a huge amount of logical fallacies littered throughout all of your posts. First, the only "evidence" you state that public humiliation is great punishment is from a television show. Now, this evidence only proves one thing... That in some random city, there is quite a few people who agree that public humiliation is a valid form of punishment.

I'm sure that the public's opinion is something that is always, always correct and completely, one hundred percent, to be counted on, right?

Okay, besides that, give me scientific proof that this is a good punishment. Personally, I can see how it could have massively detrimental effects. Listen, a child's psyche is a fragile thing. Adults, especially here lately with all of the world's problems, also have a thin line between good mental health and bad. This could be incredibly traumatic and give both children and adults psychological problems (I could see suicide rates going up). Besides, this type of punishment showcases everybody the flaws of a person. Bullying will ensue. Prejudice will ensue. Blackmailing will ensue. Reputations are all but dead, and for some people... They truly don't deserve something like that. Because, like everybody's saying, everybody has flaws. Everybody has a skeleton in their closet. Addiefree, I can guarantee you that you're not a saint, and by advocating this type of punishment, it is very hypocritical. This is bullying.

Also, show me the societies that use this type of punishment. Are they societies known for being extremely conservative or traditional? I mean, women who cheat on their husbands in certain countries get publicly stoned to death. It's a humiliating death, but I'm sure it keeps a lot of women from cheating, right? Threaten people with a bad, humiliating punishment, and they'll be too afraid to do another bad thing. That's your logic. Tell me though, is this right? Is inducing fear to keep people in line really a good thing? No. It's not. Here's some examples of governments that have ran their countries based on fear: Nazi Germany, Iraq, Soviet Union, etc.

Also... You've done drugs. If you've drank a coke, smoked a cigarette, or drank alcohol, you've done drugs. Alcohol's symptoms and long time effects are worse than weed. Some prescription drugs are much, much worse than acid or weed or that synthetic shit that burns holes in your brain. They're legal, yet they can do so much destruction to your health, mentally and physically (Methadone, oxycotin, etc). The subject of "drugs" is very shaky and to say that somebody who smokes weed is a terrible person is just wrong. Oh yeah, your view on morality in general seems very naive and ignorant. Some people do bad things for different reasons. There can be a lot of build up. Nothing is ever black or white. Have you ever heard of psychology and sociology? Delve into them and study. You'll learn that environmental factors, among other factors, can do some strange thing to a person's personality.

People got upset with you because you got completely offensive with how you stated your opinion. Also, you insulted people. If you want people to take you seriously, look up the principles of a "debate". Actually, first, look up its definition. If you find that too boring, then go ahead and argue. You're just going to make people dislike you. You'll be wasting your time.

I also don't think you know what the hell composition is either.

I TOTALLY agree with addiefree....with adults afraid to confront these young idiots when they are seen doing stupid things and behaving in an inappropriate manner, yes, I will be the judge of "appropriate behavior," they have no guidance and continue on their stupid path to a nonproductive future. A future of children with unknown fathers and dependent on OUR tax dollars to exist. Bad behavior is easily recognized and we adults should be bold enough to challenge it. We have become a gutless society and are kowtowing to the ill raised youth around us. Tolerating despicable language and behavior is showing our lack of self-respect for ourselves, our loved ones as well as those behaving poorly. We have allowed the inmates to control the asylum...time to retake what is ours.

Just made a post on Synthetic Weed. I don't know what anyone else thinks but I am all about public humiliation when nothing else works. For instance, those that read any of my posts regarding cheaters know that I feel cheaters should be confronted, exposed and publicly shunned by society for their actions(kinda like wearing the scarlet letter) until they learn that this is something that we do not want in our society. I also believe that "out of control" teens should be made to wear a sign advertising what they did and walk around town wearing it. Folks should be able to approach them and question them regarding their behavior. Many other societies use the approach of public humiliation and do not have all the issues we have because of the individual's fear of this humiliation. I am not saying this would necessarily solve our problems but I will say our current approach to fixing things does not work. For instance, how many individuals adverise that they do drugs? Only a few select individuals know about their habit; and those tend to be the ones doing drugs with them. They tend to keep this to themselves because they do not want anyone knowing they do them because they care what most people think of them. Perhaps exposing them and making them wear their own "scarlet letter"!!!!
..unless you're limiting your offenses that warrant public humiliation to doing drugs or cheating on a spouse or a test, I would guess that we all, including you, have done something that deserves the same punishment.
..i sneak fat-free items into fat peoples cart at Houchens..I tell 4-5 year olds their Daddy doesn't love them..I do drugs..(this s a little embarrassing) I showed a boy scout troop my wiener 2 or 3 times..ACCIDENTLY; I'm not a weirdo!

What did you do?

I did not, I wrote on it but it did not show up. I am not going to go back and reread and write all over again. I basically stated you had some good points however I was not making a formal argument. I have taken Critical Thinking and was not using "Primetime" to validate my point. This is not a formal debate or argument; I am simply stating my opinion. I accept your opinion. I agree with some and do not agree with others. I believe personality has already been shaped for the age group I am referring to. Years ago, children were spanked in public for misbehaving. Had it not been for some folks taking it to "extremes", it would be more "common" today. I am sure the older generation can tell stories about when their parents used the "rod" on them and what lessons they learned from this. As I said before, each of us is entitled to our own opinion. I never said people should be stoned, just shunned or humiliated; there is a difference. Look at examples in a culture that is more realistic to my meaning such as the Japanese culture. You do not know that negative consequences would result from this unless you have read studies regarding this. Lastly, there is a difference between doing what is legal and illegal. Smoking or chewing tobacco, drinking soda, etc... does not lead to illegal activities to get money for these drugs. That is a lame excuse that lots of folks use to explain how some drugs should be legalized. Some folks may choose to use illegal drugs and that is their choice but they also have to recognize that these are illegal and there are consequences. If I am speeding while driving and I get I ticket; I should not blame the officer. The same principle applies here.

Sorry to say I don't cheat, never have done drugs, etc. You apparently are the stupid person because you use foul language to cover the fact that you lack a vocabulary. I said like wearing a scarlet letter not actually wearing it but I am sure you have issues with understanding composition as well. For your information, "Primetime's What Would You Do" featured a show on this and the public's reaction. What do you know........generally the public had a more positive reaction concerning children that misbehave. Well, I really have no use in talking to you really as what I say tends to be above your level of comprehension so I will just say this is strictly my opinion which I am entitled to as you are entitled to yours. It is ignorance like yours that prevent folks from thinking "outside the box" to resolve some of the social issues facing our children and society today. This is not about Grayson County but if you are knocking Grayson County, your county must be fantastic with sooooooo many scholars; all whom use your language. Wow, you made me rethink my position with your knowledge, lol.

I do not believe I earned a Master's from a prestigious university without knowing how to correctly use words to form sentences. Good try, though.

Google is not a prestigious university, and sticking your hand up 'your man's' ass, to make him nod for you, doesn't really make you a Master, either

Too nasty for me. I'm out of this rather unusual conversation. Google University? Really...if you say so.

It really sounds like Addiebfree just likes to stir some shit and get some people pissed off, this person knew that they'd be arguing, like they did.
Its obvious.
I just find it kind of humorous that this person "addiebfree" starts the thread off with trying to come up with just the most heart-felt resolution to the later quote "idiots" of Grayson County. It's clear that this person is not only a judgemental, meddlesome, confrontational, but this person seems to be a hypocrite, by listing all of the things a person should be publicly humiliated for, like he/she has a right to judge anyone for any of those actions. I understand it is important to take a stance for helping troubled teens, and that is noble, but the way this person has attempted their support, is kind of pathetic. I think that people have adapted poor parenting, and over time it has gotten worse. Punishment is important. Spanking, grounding, etc is important. Communication is important. So many young people believe that they dont have to answer to or follow rules anymore, and many have forgotten respect. Thats the day in time we live in. I think that if any young people are reading this, I just want to let you all know, that it is important to listen to your parents, and hang around good friends, and not the type of friends who would sell you into a lie, do pills, drink, etc.. If you are living in Grayson County, the last thing you need to do is hang around the wrong crowd, because Im telling you the court system will suck you in, if you are caught in a bad situation and it happens. Consider your name being in a newspaper "public humiliation" and consider that valid. I think people should be REALISTIC with their teens. There.
