Just made a post on Synthetic Weed. I don't know what anyone else thinks but I am all about public humiliation when nothing else works. For instance, those that read any of my posts regarding cheaters know that I feel cheaters should be confronted, exposed and publicly shunned by society for their actions(kinda like wearing the scarlet letter) until they learn that this is something that we do not want in our society. I also believe that "out of control" teens should be made to wear a sign advertising what they did and walk around town wearing it. Folks should be able to approach them and question them regarding their behavior. Many other societies use the approach of public humiliation and do not have all the issues we have because of the individual's fear of this humiliation. I am not saying this would necessarily solve our problems but I will say our current approach to fixing things does not work. For instance, how many individuals adverise that they do drugs? Only a few select individuals know about their habit; and those tend to be the ones doing drugs with them. They tend to keep this to themselves because they do not want anyone knowing they do them because they care what most people think of them. Perhaps exposing them and making them wear their own "scarlet letter"!!!!

This sounds like the most stupidest thing, I've ever heard. So you're telling me you've never in your life done drugs, or cheated on a person or test or anything? If you haven't then you are apart of a very low percentage of people from grayson county.
If you have would you be willing to make an example out of yourself and wear your 'scarlet letter'? Doubt it...
You should like a hypocritical b|tch, but then again, that's all Grayson county really consists of.

Sorry to say I don't cheat, never have done drugs, etc. You apparently are the stupid person because you use foul language to cover the fact that you lack a vocabulary. I said like wearing a scarlet letter not actually wearing it but I am sure you have issues with understanding composition as well. For your information, "Primetime's What Would You Do" featured a show on this and the public's reaction. What do you know........generally the public had a more positive reaction concerning children that misbehave. Well, I really have no use in talking to you really as what I say tends to be above your level of comprehension so I will just say this is strictly my opinion which I am entitled to as you are entitled to yours. It is ignorance like yours that prevent folks from thinking "outside the box" to resolve some of the social issues facing our children and society today. This is not about Grayson County but if you are knocking Grayson County, your county must be fantastic with sooooooo many scholars; all whom use your language. Wow, you made me rethink my position with your knowledge, lol.

Lol - is it really that hard to believe that not everyone does drugs or cheats on a significant other/test/whatever?

Too funny.

Do YOU understand the term bully? What you are suggesting is a
form of bullying. When you suggest children or adults wear signs
stating their mistakes, you are bullying. What happened to talking to them and finding out what the problem is. This child has lost a parent, maybe this is his way of handling it. I am NOT
condoning what he is doing but I do think he needs professional help to cope with what ever is causing this problem. I also agree talking to the Police /Sheriff depts, some one is supplying this and they need to be stopped.
What about a 6yr old child that accidentally wets their pants
do you put a sign on this child too? Everyone makes mistakes.
Some more serious than others. I would bet that even you make mistakes. I know for a fact I make them. I do NOT smoke, drink, do drugs nor cheat. I was raised in Grayson County. I do not have a college degree. I am not perfect in any way nor do I claim to be. I do not have to use fowl language to get my point across. What I am is a parent, who talks to my child and listens when they talk to me. When I am wrong, I apologize to my child.
I am curious as to why you seem so bitter. Education does not make any one better than anyone else. An education may help you recognize typo's, but it doesn't always make your opinion correct.
I do agree that you are entitled to your opinion.
I hope 2013 brings you health, happiness, peace and love.

Judge not lest ye be judged also. Judging people's behavior is God's job, not yours or anyone else's. If you read the book, Scarlet Letter, apparently you did not get its message.

Oh, I got the message alright. You folks are taking this to an extreme. I am not saying that this would apply to everyone but in some cases, the behavior warrants public humiliation and I believe if the threat of this was present, perhaps the youth of today would not be so prone to do some of the things they do.

Also I should say that if you think about jail, which is a form of humiliation,it has been glamorized by our youth today. I am not saying 6 year olds, but think of the teens. Perhaps another form of punishment would deter this teens from some of their behaviors. Look at the post Synthetic Weed and see how this mother is trying to cope with her child. Would public humiliation help? I don't know but I sure would be willing to do anything to keep my kid on the right path.

I completely agree with you addiebfree. I am a parent and if it meant my child's life,(such as the synthetic weed), which by the way if these others knew what they were talking about has been the cause of several deaths lately, I would gladly choose the option of public humiliation. Today's teens think they are invincible, and parents don't know what they are talking about, so they tend to do what they want. The repercussions of the humiliation will eventually fade, and if that is what it takes to keep them from doing it I would be willing to take that option. Nothing else seems to be working, look at JC's cigarette outlet, they got busted a few weeks ago with thousands of dollars worth of it in their store, and guess what they are still OPEN FOR BUSINESS. So do you think that reporting the ones selling it is the route to go. I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Why shouldn't a store be shut for carrying something that is an illegal substance in this county? So what if it says not for human consumption, meth shouldn't be either, but look what people do with that.

You obviously have some issues yourself. I think you are a repressed, unfulfilled woman who secretly desires to have sex with another man and resents that it hasn't happened.

If you could read, which obviously you can't, she was talking about the parents. If you had of taken the time to read the forum that started this one you would know that she was talking about the parent's options to choose. Now who is the idiot?

I did not say I was a judge! You appear to be the idiot!!!!!!! That would be entirely left for the parent, judge or police officials. I reared my children to know better and applied punishment as needed. The problem is that parents like yourself that think that children should run a household by age five, wonder why their kids go astray as teens. They then try to correct them and realize they can't. Truly, I know I have some thoughts they may differ from others but I don't criticize you for expressing yourself. As I said, everyone has a mind and makes their own choices, and can express themselves. This however does not mean that I am not free to comment or make my own choices. You are a hypocrite if you think otherwise.

How do you know I have children or how I raise them if I do? At least you didn't come right out and call me a hypocrite. You have no idea what I think or believe in and I could care less what you think. I'm busy enough taking care of MY business, not sticking my nose into everyone elses.
You, my dear, are a trouble maker that needs to get a life. There are better places than Topix to express yourself....oh, you can't do that though, can you? Topix is the only place you can talk your trash anonymously.
I have no more time for this silliness....Good-bye and Merry Christmas!

But I see you keep coming on trying to find out if I replied to your post. How silly is that when you are the one complaining about my comments?

Not really angry, just highly opinionated. Most of time I laugh at how my opinion makes others angry. It's crazy to get angry because someone does not agree with your viewpoint. I will attempt to lighten my banter.
