Obviously the D.A.R.E program is and has been a complete and total failure. We all hear these tragic stories, and some people have a poor attitude about it.
Imagine for a minuet being a parent in this situation and blaming yourself and asking what you could have done different to prevent it.
Perhaps Carbon County as a whole could implement more realistic anti-drug programs rather than "Justic the Moose" Maybe increase the penalties of offenders rather than ARD being the damn answer. It's a big joke in this county with how things are conducted and people wonder why this is such an issue.
Much like the person who sold this drug, do you think he will see anything more than a few months in jail followed by probabtion? I doubt it, and thats the issue.
It is no wonder this county and its poltics are 20 years behing everywhere else. Everyone is ignorant to the issues we face and fail to properly address them.

Furthermore it seems as if the police cannot effectively do their jobs as it seems the rules and laws are designed in favor of the criminals. What is going on around here, wake up people, take a stand, let your voices be heard already!

nah yo ur totally wrong its really not the person who sold or gave the kid the drugs...hes an adult, him, n his family aint got no1 to blame but him, he made the choice....Honestly reading sad shit like this pisses me off, cus we r all american's we all have choices to make we live n die by thes choices n at the end of the day we have no one to blame but ourselves for our mistakes, i overdosed when i was younger almost died myself, but my overdose i didnt blame dare, the police, the person who got me what i needed, nope cus i made that choice its my fault....U wanna b an american then u gotta live n die by ur choices, but most americans are just to ignorant to blame themselves, always looking for sumone else to blame its sad...

Thank you to "doesn't matter"! That is exactly what I am trying to say. I want to do everything I can to stop this from happening to someone else. And I am really frustrated that I can't even really speak out yet about it.
I want to tell Brett's story so that it helps others, even if it changes the outcome for just one kid. I am a walking example that this can happen to anyone. Brett didn't come from a broken home; we had and still have dinners at the table where we talk to our kids about their day. We have family time with our kids. He was attending a private college, getting good grades, working his butt off in the summer to pay for his own things.
He had goals and ambitions, and this was like a freight train hitting a building for our family. People need to see that this type of thing can pick and choose anyone, it doesn't discriminate, and it needs to stop.
Brett took a half of pill, yes he thought it was something else, but he still took it. His alcohol levels weren't that high; but the combination was a devastating result. Kids and parents need to wake up; don't let this happen again.
he was 20 so guess he shouldnt of had any alcohol in his system, cus that would b just as illegal as the pill, but of course to you that is also someone else's fault.....NOPE sorry for ur loss but u cant blame no1 but ur son n contrary to ur belief, he bought illegal drugs n took illegal drugs so ther for he is a druggie, n if u dont like the realness i bring sorry for that to but ppl like u need to wake the f up, n stop blaming other ppl n let ur son b the only one that is responsible for this, cus truth is if he wouldnt of bought it n chosen to take it he would still b here, but then his choices let to wher he is

You sound like one of his fellow druggies, or were you his dealer, sorry on the loss of another one of your clients
You sound so intelligent....Let me guess your a typical white piece of shit/no job/lives at home with his mom. You have a lot of nerve saying shit about a person's son. I wish i could say shit about your son dying, but you probably don't have kids due to a variety of things which I don't want to say about you. You must feel so big behind a computer screen saying shit. If you were a real man then say it to my face, but once again you probably don't have the fucking balls.

n ur so intelligent, coming on here like a chump threatening, making fun of ppl...Now thats the solution, solving problems wit ppl who disagree wit u with violence IGNORANCE...grow up, i lost my mom to a drunk driver who was also on percocet, idc bout the person who got the guy drunk, n idc bout the guy who sold him the perc's i only care about the guy who made the decision to take them n then drive the vehicle...AMERICANS need to learn to take responsibility for ther own actions

dude for real, i am not trying to be disrespectful to your mom, you, or your brothers legacy...i bring nothing but the truth, maybe you're just blind but i'll try n break it down so you can understand it...every action has a reaction, your brothers decision making led to where he is now, no one forced him idk maybe he was unaware himself but he still chose to do what he did.....Your ignorance is so sad, you could be doing something to prevent stuff like this but instead you would rather be a tough guy on the internet and make ignorant and violant threats, like why not go and educate yourself, your family your friends and anyone else who will listen on the danger of drugs, and the serious danger of mixing drugs and alcohol so this doesn't happen again...That is all but sorry for your loss and hope you have a good day
