Tawt I Saw A Gator

Fort Myers, FL

Hi, new resident of Lehigh Acres, didn't move into the best side of town, but hindsight is 20/20, I suppose. Anyhoo, when traveling on 1st street behind WalMart, crossed a small canal behind the store and lo and behold, a gator, our first sighting in Florida. Didn't know they were around here, but will be more careful walking the dog along the canals now.

“Frak you all.”

If you see that you estimate to be longer than 4 feet call the FWC Nuisance Alligator Hotline so they can remove it. (866) FWC-GATOR

If the water is not in a swimming pool you can bet there are gators in it.

He was more than 4 feet, but he wasn't being a nuisance, just bobbin' in the canal and being nice and calm.

Well this years 4 foot gator is next years 6 foot gator then before you know it he or she is 10 foot gator crawling around in peoples back yards. Thanks for saying where you saw it, I will just report it myself, and have him relocated to Lake Trafford.

Not all way true. The Florida Alligator can be found in all types of standing water, salt, brackish, fresh, swamps, marshes and even swimming pool. So alway look first before you leap in or walk to close to canals. Oh as FWC found a alligator in the engine compartment of a car once in Miami. Gives an all new meaning to "you seem to have a leak in your engine". Also if you see one it is best to leave it be.

Oh, just leave him alone, we are invading their territory, not the other way around, they have been here a lot longer than we have. We think we can just "humanize" the countryside and get rid of the animals to suit us. It doesn't work no matter what, or whom, you relocate. Just ask the Cherokee.

FWC has not tasked out that job as yet but the ECWCD has been called on them as they are in their canal and will be taken out.
