Just figured it out.(I love a good mystery)

I’ve made a few calls. Actually, Mr. Bay is quite well known at the studio level here in LA - including Universal Studios, the granddaddy of them all. He was even given a personal tour of Universal Studios, as well as other studios in the Hollywood, Manhattan Beach and Culver City area. Culver Studios' president knew exactly who I was talking about. I know for a fact that very few people have ever been granted such a personal tour of Universal. Each studio said he’s done an incredible amount of due diligence at their studios.

One studio stated that he’d been there four times to educated himself on what Utah would need to provide to bring their services to town.

Next call went to the Utah Film commission. They knew exactly who Todd Bay was, and extensive experience in the film industry there in Utah. In fact, the film commission visited the set of his next television project just this last weekend. They spoke highly of him and acknowledge his extreme personal efforts to bring a much needed studio to the state of Utah.

What Tired of Illiterates failed to mention was that Mr. Bay actually worked with a Utah filmmaker for quite some time, and since Mr. Bay's departure, the filmmaker’s company (who I’m very aware of and who has been an utter disappointment to those of us here in LA - hoping for his success) has now performed so poorly, that it had to lay off nearly all of its employees, and cannot get anyone to carry its last project. Mr. Bay headed up all business aspect of this company – a position that I know all too well, thankless when it comes to being given “producer credits.”

My guess is that Tired of Illiterates is this Utah County filmmaker and what has to be a developer partner. Too much knowledge about bigger Summit County projects for this simpleton filmmaker to know about. Yet an unsuccessful developer- I’m mean really. Who spends this much time on petty blogs?(other than me!) AND, he has not responded to any of the political problems specific to this area.

Here are my 5 top reasons we should all support this development.

1. It will boost the Utah economy, which will equal more income tax revenue.
2. 100% of all income taxes go to public schools.
3. 100% of all income taxes go to public schools.
4. 100% of all income taxes go to public schools.
5. 100% of all income taxes go to public schools.

This petty blog is the local rag, and Tired is here all the time talking about all kinds of things. Comcast ISP has all park City folks listed as Salt Lake City, because we are just a little burg.
Why do you not mention ONE name, one company, one film, one tv show Bay is associated with - you just say he went on a freaking tour. Smells like more BS.

Oh yeah - change your handle - you are offending all the Park City veterans and our families by trying to make a stupid political point. YOU show outrageous disrespect to the military with your offensive chosen fake name. I take that kind of thing personally. I am not going to tell you again, buttmunch.

Get up to date on technology, UTAH FIRST - the IP address shows the location of the Internet provider for the computer on which one is working. I use Comcast, and that shows "Salt Lake City" even when I am sitting in my Park City home, just off Park Avenue, near Thaynes, a short distance from Quinn's Junction. Nowhere near 900 S 300 E. When I travel and use a local wireless network, my IP address might show Mobile, Alabama, or Bangor, Maine - depending on where I am at that moment. But I live in Park City. I pay property taxes, register my car, license my dog, renew my driver license, and participate in community charities and activities in PARK CITY, SUMMIT COUNTY. Unlike those who sit in cafés on 900 S 300 E.

Instead of building an 800-room monstrosity, how about giving 50% lodging discounts in Park City to military families? not like we don't have enough bed space & rentals, I am sure discounts can be done if a military family just asks. Will the Utah lawmakers foot the bill for that?
Military folks can have a 50% discount on renting my place any time they want, and lawmakers (well taxpayers really) don't have to foot the bill for anything. Beats having it sit empty.

Why would you build a huge condo hotel in a down market where you can't sell the units and can't rent the units? It just doesn't make sense. Only the developer/builder of the project stands to profit; the result would be a shiny new ghost town.

At least the people who build Promontory *thought* they were going to make money.

Everyone who has ever tried to build in Park City or in Summit County adjacent to PC knows how infuriating the process has always been. Some say that local government is just protecting the interests of the community. Others call to corruption, plain and simple. Back room deals, cronyism, good ol’ boy networks, even practices that could be defined as extortion are all just standard operating procedure. The nightmare and abuses concerning the hospital are well known throughout the state.

The legislator’s who passed SB 216 didn’t do it blindly. They are not uneducated. I think they knew exactly what they were doing and how it would affect this property dispute at Quinn’s junction. Maybe they were trying to tell local government that their behavior would no longer be tolerated. Those who do not like what happened in the legislative process this year can thank those who’s actions made laws like SB 216 an eventual surety.

Since it looks like we may get a new hotel and motion picture sound stages built in Summit County, maybe we’ll get lucky and have some independent documentary producer use the facility as a base to do an expose on corrupt county government. It would not only be the perfect irony, it would also be something that I would pay to go see. Maybe we should call Michael Moore and see what he’s doing.

Are political donations in Utah available for us all to see. How much was given to get this law pushed through without more time for Park City's officials to rally support against it?

Can the city require the hotel's operators to run a shuttle bus back and forth frequently enough to alleviate traffic problems?

This is really getting tiresome. People are actually claiming that having a tour of Universal Studios is some kind of credential - like you can't get a tour for a fee (general admission $67; "front of the line" pass $94). Idiots - and I mean that literally - who think that 100% of all taxes go to public schools. Can any of the "friends of Todd Bay" answer a few simple questions?? For example: What movies has he produced? What television series has he produced? In what state, and in what form, is "Bay Entertainment & Media" formed? What credits does he have for ANY existing productions? What real estate developments has he headed up? What publicly-listed companies has he run? How much money has he raised for this new development? From what sources? What training and/or experience does he have in venture capitalism or studio production or real estate development? I don't care if you think he is a really swell, standup kind of guy. Give us some specific examples of his bona fides - what has he done, how successful has he been, what backing (SPECIFICALLY) does he have? So he sat next to Ricky Schroeder at a basketball game?? Have you heard of Bernie Madoff? Many many people lost their life savings because they thought that "anyone who knows [...] must be a good guy". No matter how much his partisans try to cast him as a "visionary", the plain fact is that Todd Bay has no experience, no expertise, and no proven ability to manage a development of this magnitude. He is an outsider, a bit player, a poseur, an inexperienced "wannabe", and I challenge ANY of you to prove otherwise. Don't bother defending him personally - I have no doubt that he has a loving and devoted wife and that his five children think the sun rises and sets on him. I am talking about entrusting a multi=million dollars development to a driving school manager. Prove me wrong. PROVE.
