Meet the Candidates: Kerry Johnson

Lance Corporal Kerry Johnson is running for the Lexington County Sheriff seat this year.

A really good point about being active and out in the field of law enforcement, something the others running for office can't claim. Lexington County needs some new ideas and Mr. Johnson's enthusiam to bring about change.

Law Enforcement in Lexington County has been a joke for so long, just about anyone could turn the Sheriff's Department around. Johnson would bring faster response times back to the citizens and bring the "top heavy" Sheriff's Department back down to size by getting rid of those fat and sassy brass, and putting workers in there to make the necessary changes. It is time for a change in Lexington County!

I am all for new blood in the Lexington County Offices, It is time the citizens spoke up and quit lettting the "upper class" decide who runs our city!! Kerry all the way!!!

It is time for a change. Ever since Metts spoke to the lady whose daughter was killed the way he did, I lost all respect for him. He also handled the Lisa Rucker murder case in a shotty way. He does not respect the citizens of Lexington County that are on the other side of I-20. We are nobody's to him and he has made that perfectly clear. No one shuld ever be spoken to the way he has spoken to several citizens of Lexington County. He should be ashamed of himself. Everyone, please vote for Kerry.

Libby has a point, Mr. Johnson currently being out in the field he knows what it going on. Lex CO needs someone in office that is in touch with the community, not sitting behind a desk. Sitting behind a desk yelling a mother who just wants to know where her little girl is and why..... the sheriff hasn't put the bad guy in jail!!!

I have not voted for Mr. Metts the last two elections. Ever since my spouse worked at "his jail" several years ago and then were "TOLD" to vote for him, I stopped voting for him. One day, and I hope it is this election, I will see him leave office. As long as there is a camera involved, he is involved. I totally agree with "Help" on his/her post. Time to say Ba-Bye to Metts.

I have heard Mrs. Metts was on the board of direct.at LCDC and some food supplies are purchased for a family member's business. Does your spouse know anything about this?

Metts does seem to care about people and has done a pretty good job but it is time for a change. I think Kerry Johnson seems to be on the ball! The guy is out there on the streets of Richland County taking calls & fighting crime everyday. Man, if you can handle that you have got my vote. He must be good at what he does if he is a trainer. I remember reading in the state news paper back in the 1980's that Leon Lott did try to tell people/RCSD and Sheriff Sloan that gangs were on move toward Cola but no one would lisen. Why did LCSD do away with the gang task force? Do we not have gangs in Lexington County?

Kerry Johnson came across very impressive. I believe he will be just the new man for the job. It is time for a change. Metts is old and is just trying to buy another 4 years for retirement. He is ineffective as an active Sheriff. He may be the sheriff, but does NO work.

Lexington residents have kept a Sheriff in office that is rumored to have been a part owner of a strip club, rumored to have purchased a vehicle, that had been seized, for $50 that others never had the chance to look at, rumored to have had a long-standing affair and rumored to have hired a political rival to keep him from running from office against him. We don't have a gang unit, but he is rumored to have a fundraising person on staff who is paid by the residents of Lexington Co. If Johnson did get fired, what a compliment to not be on the same page as someone like Metts!

Bad boys know, with enough Money they can buy the silence of James R. Metts! Lexington County has become A Haven for Big Time Drug Dealers. We can change this by Removing James R. Metts.
