I was told by a source that the soup kitchen in deridder ,which i found out is run by Grace church, suppose to feed the homeless.I was told that you see everyone, eating but the homeless, driving fine cars and wearing suits. They go around DeRidder and ask local food eaterys for left over food to feed the homeless.I was also given that info from a establishment that was asked for theirs. Was also informed of another woman whom has a organization for kids in DeRidder, that she went over there and picked up some plates for her grandchildren because she didn't want to cook.I think this is ashame,i am sure they are probably getting some kind of funding for the kitchen.Instead of taking the food to the ederly or homeless that cant get there they feed there friends and probably church members whom just dont want to cook and want a free meal.Anyone else know of this ?

Maybe you should post this on the DeRidder forum....

Leesville is NOT DeRidder.....

bembh is correct, this belongs in the DeRidder forum.

A couple of notes of interest to your post-
http://www.beauregarddailynews.net/article/20... #
Pg 1:
"Soul Soup is an outreach ministry of Grace Church of DeRidder that provides dinner, or supper as Southerners say it, everyday, free of charge to help the less fortunate in the community who are experiencing financial burdens, low or fixed incomes or no incomes, no questions asked."

"Those who go to Soul Soup are given a place to sit down and are fed without any question being asked about their personal, financial, or spiritual situation.

Funding for the program is entirely from the community. It is a community effort."

Pg 2:
"Donations to Soul Soup are made by Boise, Beauregard Electric Cooperative Inc.(BECI), Amerisafe, Meade Westvaco, Boise Federal Credit Union, Pizza Hut, Ms. Emily's catering and many other businesses throughout the area.

This mission is not funded by state or federal funds, so there are no stipulations or regulations, and the mission can provide for anyone needing a meal.

Many churches and citizens also donate to the ministry by providing food, donations, free man power to serve, and by monetary support to pay for food, rent and utilities for the kitchen to operate.
Fourteen churches help with the materials, and service. The ministry itself accepts any denomination because of the community effort."

"The dining area is like a sanctuary to some. They go just to have fellowship with one another."

"And to those who need a hot meal at the end of the day, but are down on luck, feel free to drop by Soul Soup in DeRidder."

I did not know of this, but thank you for your post bringing it to my attention. I think it is a great thing for a neighbor to reach out to another without judging them the way you just did.

I wish people would just accept the way things are ..... and as close as deridder is to leesville you might as well assume that it affects us as well. For some reason I don't understand why some have to be negative about something so little.... it seems some need to open their eyes as it could end up on their front door before too much longer then it won't be such an imposition that someone posted on their thread.

I have to say that what you have heard a bull! THey make the food in the back and serve to everyone!!! The so called "suits" pay for their food, in which goes back into the kitchen to buy more food. Not only does the Church fund them their are several church camps (Dry Creek) that support them as well. Everyone that works in their do not get payed neither. You need to go down, eat their and ask about the mission kitchen.

I just asked a question, for that i was told this by a few people ,and i was no way judging anyone. Some you are so rude. You dont know me as well as i dont know you.I am ,but have not always been about giving, but have changed my life over the years and have given thousands of dollars, that i worked for ,to help the less fortnate. Now i am all about helping people, but to be misinformed about what is really going on is wrong. Now i do know that what i asked is about DeRidder, but there are people who live here and are from here whom know DeRidder and Leesville like the back of your hand. Now i do appoligize if i have offended any of you,you people need to learn not to be so mean. You dont have to get so angry over a question.May God bless us all.

I agree with your statement that I don't know you. But you can't believe everything you hear. We do have some very mean people in the world. And they will say things they have no knowledge of.

Why do you think its a shame because the grandmother went at plates for the little grandkids? The grandkids should go hungry because grandma is lazy and didn't cook. She fed the kids!!! According to you, yet you say thats a shame. Shame on you for feeling like that toward the little innocent kids.

I rather enjoyed reading it though. Maybe you should not read it, if a 23 minute drive separates the two

You are the dumbest, and goofiest looking old man I've ever seen! Seriously, the statement, "don't judge a book by its cover" is not directed towards you. First glance at you and one thinks, "who is this stupid looking old man?" Then they listen to you speak, or read what you write, and they too realize the same thing everyone else does. What a fool!

My looks serves a purpose, at least I hope they do. Prayerfully when you look at me it gives you the impression, I best not touch that damn fool. My looks are God's way of looking out for you damn fools.

No. When I look at you I say, "What a goofy looking bastard" and "What a damn fool" as well as, "Such a loser who thinks he knows so much".

That's all

Par for the course. I would imagine that the part you enjoyed best was where it rants about feeding the little kids.

You are right. I will give you credit for that comment. The only one you've ever made that is correct.

Because apparently your mother and father (if you know your father) had the same problem with raising you. "There was nothing they could do" to make you right. I guess that little issue runs in the entire Hopkins family?

Lol... Louis, I have a nice career that I could possibly lose if arrested for such an offense as that. So you are right again. I am scared of losing my job and explaining to my kids that daddy can't buy their toys because I placed myself on the same level of this old fool who can't even speak like an educated grown up. So yes Louis, I am chicken... Bock bock.

Some of you are soooo mean and immature.
No joke, seriously, 100% please just stop the nonsense. When you put someone down or belittle someone you just end up knocking yourself down a notch. Come on people have a heart, have a little decency.

Kids, Dad/Mom is home with yellow all over their face and backside! How does BEING YELLOW effect your job? Havemercy, by your own admission, was right once again. Your childish like behaviour needs to find out what is so confusing about life and follow one path to salvation. He can also read what your intentions are when written. Hell will be full of your kind.
