Well, I'll have to defend the cops, even here in Vernon parish. You are not defending us while you are over seas... You are defending the country that you are sent to protect. The cops in America, even in leesville, defend the citizens here, not there. They protect you and your family, while you protect other countries.

So thank you for saving the little Iraqis.

But on a real note, thanks for your service, even though you don't protect me cause I don't live in Afghanistan.

Actually, you are wrong. In fact , your entire post is wrong. Next time stop looking through your scope trying to zero in on the kill, cause you just might miss the point. You are talking all of this gibberish about being off duty as if I don't know how law enforcement goes.
What was said was that if an off duty officer is driving his personal vehicle, or whatever the case may be, he should not be treated any different than I would, if he were to break the law. Believe me, I know the code of on call 24/7.
See, you may have forgotten since you were fired from the agency you worked for. NOW, if the officer is on duty and does something, than sure, hit them harder. But off duty? No way Jose! He/she is a normal person and normal people make mistakes. In the uniform... Different story.
Next time, don't try and talk to me about cop life and rules, because I would school you on that topic.
School away, lets see what you got there.

Very well said Dander, I agree I respect the military and the job they do for our country, but I see where there is always signs etc that states we support our troops, and if you are military you get a discount just as a way of saying thank you. Even times such as the parish fair the military gets great discounts on tickets and arm bands for their family. Yet a police officer gets nothing, I spoke to some of the cops working the fair and they work it for free, they do not get paid for their time in anyway.

People do not realize your local law enforcement is your real home land security, while our troops are over seas putting their life on the line for this country (my prayers go out to you and your famlies) Your law enforcement remains here to protect their family while they are away.

My thing is this, why can't the town, parish , country acknowledge your first responders, all the way down to that volunteer fire fighter that enters the burning house to save people. I watched a video on you tube that was a town I believe was in colorado where they had a parade for the local law enforcement just to say thank you. I thought that was an awesome mayor that gave a speach acknowledging the dangers that law enforcement face.. It really would not be that hard to say Thank You to a cop, fire fighter, emt etc.
