Two people were killed in a three-vehicle wreck in Simpson on Tuesday, according to Simpson Police Chief Houston Burns Jr.

Burns said the cause of the crash is still under investigation. He said killed were 25-year-old Shawn Patrick Thomas of Leesville and 18-year-old Charles R. Emerson III of Simpson.

Prayers for the Emmerson family today as they lay Charlie to rest!! I am also wondering why this accident is so hush hush! Nothing is in the paper, news or the LSP web site??? Really weird!
I think they call it an investigation.... I would imagine that they were still getting the facts before they posted anything.

I sure wish some topic users would do the same..

the vpso and the state police are large agencies, they have a public relations person who releases info.

simpson police is a one man team, who is in complete control of the investigation, including the release of a news story.

its not hush hush, chief burns is busy investigating the crash, and just didn't do a press release. neither is he required to do so.

If you need the information on the crash, contact LSP, get a copy of the report, for a small fee. You can then gossip to your heart"s content. Instead of blaming the VFD, or whomever...pray for the families and stop whining that it wasnt in the paper.

ive never seen anything in the paper or on the news, but the fact that the simpson police department is working the wreck leads me to believe that they might be trying to cover up fact of what really happened.

chief burns is very qualified to investigate the wreck. it happened inside his city limits.

you cant get a report from lsp- they dont have one, didnt do one, and wont do one. it is simpsons
wreck therefore the report will come from that agency.

some of you on here think you know everything there is to know about everything.

reports dont take a few days, a wreck thie extensive could take weeks, there is no timetable

<quoted text> I was wondering the same thing. I have been checking the LSP website but nothing on this accident has been posted yet. An earlier post had said an investigation was ongoing but that shouldn't take this long. A conspiracy theorist might conclude that it is hush hush because a Shamerhorn truck was involved.
Or could it be that the Police Juror that lives in Simspson was involved. That bunch from Simspson can sweep it under a rug faster than you can imagine. And its still not on the LSP website, and never saw a thing in the newspapers.

It may have been inside his "city limits", but thats a State Highway and LSP should've been there also. Get a ticket in Simspson and see if the "City of Simpson" gets the money from the fine...nope you pay the VPSD.

The LSP was there and were investigating. Go through the LSP press releases, most happen inside one city limits or another but a press release is still done

They dont have mayors court in Simpson like every other village/small town in the state that has an elected police chief?

From what i hear tell the semi driver took heroic actions to avoid hitting other cars and he should be commended. He took his truck into the woods and came very close to being killed himself. The driver of the pickup truck, Mr Thompson, was techicaly at fault but it was just a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The bottom line is HWy 8 needs to be widened, have new bridges and have some of the bad hills leveled.

Two young people died in that accident. People should be praying for the families instead of worrying about the details, so they can go gossip about it. Quite frankly, it is not anyone's damn business about what happened in the accident. Pray for the families, and be thankful that it wasn't yours.

I agree with you to a certain degree but if we want to avoid future tragedies like this it behooves us to learn from this accident and make improvements to the road so it doesnt happen again.

But that isn't why people want to know the details. Accidents are going to happen, and the truth is, there is not a way to stop them. We can redo the roads to make them less likely, put up signs, blah blah blah, but seriously, they aren't gonna spend our tax dollars on that. This is Louisiana. The accident with Cody and Jaden Marshall a few months back was caused by the state not putting signs up. The next day the state put the signs up and pushed eveything under the rug. I have never read an article that says that the road was under construction at the time. That is the major reason the wreck happened. The accident with Charlie, Shawn, and the 18 wheeler was more being at the wrong place at then wrong time. It makes me sick that people think the accident is "hush hush." Well, what is there to discuss? So what if there wasn't a big article about it in the paper. Why read about their lives being taking from them? Like I said before, it is not anyone's business. If the state wants to take certain measures to avoid future wrecks like this, then they will. This might be American, but we really don't have a choice about what happens. Give it a month and this wreck won't even be thought about unless you knew Charlie and Shawn.
