Louisiana is a community property state meaning you will have to equally divide your assets and debts. Child custody, child support and alimony will of course be determined at the court's discretion. One major problem encountered with military divorces involves military benefits such as medical care. For example, let's say a military husband has a civilian wife and two children. If they divorce and the wife gets custody of the children, the wife and children are no longer considered military dependents and thus they must surrender their ID cards which renders them ineligible for the military's TriCare medical benefits. In some cases, military members have been ordered to provide civilian medical coverage (Blue Cross/Blue Shield, etc.) for the children to offset the loss of military health coverage. If you've been married to a military member for at least 10 years of their career, you may be entitled to a percentage of their future military retirement pay. When the military member discloses their income to the court, they must include ALL allowances such housing allowance, rations, special duty pay, re-enlistment bonus, etc.

Hoot,

Are you sure on that medical business? I thought the kids were still covered. They are still considered military dependents and the soldier is still responsible for the medical coverage.

Why would poor people need America's best attorney for a divorce where there simply don't exist a lot of legal details?

Your grammatical prowess suggests that you might not be the best judge of an attorney's competency.

Elvin Fontenot is a great divorce attorney. He will get the most for you. Yes he is expensive but you get what you pay for. He does not pull any punches and he does go for the throat if you let him.

You want to try Jack Simms. Probably a third of his cases are transfers from other lawyers who don't do their jobs.

Attorney, Tony Bennett, in Deridder.

So my husbands ex had an affair with Joe Rankin...yes the radiologist, after meeting him at a stripper bar in Alexandria. She was attending Nursing School in Alex and decided the travel to and from Ft Polk was too long, so she got an apartment in Alex and unbeknownst to my husband started working as a stripper and an ESCORT.
She later married Joe but not before giving custody of the kids to their father after he found out about her nightlife.
Fast forward .....after she marries Joe Rankin and she becomes Mrs Tanya Rankin she needs to get the children back because she's now a respectable Dr's wife. She did some unspeakable acts against the childrens grandparents who happen to be the "family care plan" while he was deployed. These grandparents came in from Nigeria while working as missionaries with the Southern Baptist Convention.
The Ex wife having the resources to back her, hired 3 of the BIG Guns from Alexandria and then Elvin Fontenot. She walked away with nothing, in the end she even lost Joe Rankin ,she relocated to Colorado.
She has since remarried , had a baby at 43y/o and now is working through another divorce.
All this to say, Tony Bennett, played her like a fool, reduced her to tears numerous times in court, The Judge had to counsel her lawyers to get her under control. Court room drama at it's finest. Tony was a pro. When it was all said and done he retained custody of both kids, his parents continued to help and eventually we met and were wed. All ended well, the son is persuing a medical degree and the dgt a musical career.
If you're an active duty soldier/spouse there's a possibility you had medical care from my husband, for obvious reasons I'll leave his name out of this, just giving this bit of insight to who and what we are, even while we were stationed in Germany and my now husband was deployed (twice) Tony cont'd to take care of everything for us.Such a relief to have him in our corner.
Fee's more than fair and reasonable, more importantly though he was obtainable by phone when we had questions. That was important to us.

Go to JAG first. Under the UCMJ he has committed adultry with this other woman. This is an offense punishable by Court Martial. Under Louisiana law he owes child support and you can ask for alimony.
I do not know if he will have to give you his housing allowance for child support, but, it sounds logical since the cost of housing is considered to be supporting the child.
Just so that youo know, I spent 20 years in service and my first wife and I did use JAG.
I agree.
